DrAda:Is this blog post a research study. Have you read the journal where it was published? Who conducted the study? There is nothing to disprove. Do you know what 75% prevalence of HIV is? I earned a Doctorate in the field of infectious diseases, and our Diagnostic laboratory centers generate real-time laboratory data everyday. In fact, our Medical Scientists publish findings and trends every six months. We have not found such trend. A steep jump from 5% to 75% doesn't just happen overnight. Medical Laboratories and Hospitals would pick it up during clinical testing. I tell you that there is no research data that says HIV prevalence is 75% anywhere in Nigeria. It is totally unfathomable. That content creator 'Doctor' is simply feeding on sensationalism to gain attention. She is lying. Healthcare is beyond switching on ring light and opening your mouth in front of a phone camera. |

Until it gets to 95% before people take it seriously. That is, you are almost the only person that doesn’t have it. |

Anyone who believes this cannot be a doctor. 75% means that three out of every 4 people in the country have HIV.It is a big lie. HIV is a big problem, people should abstain or atleast use protection. But alarmists like this lady are not helping. DrAda: |

Dalohad:Pilot studies exist for a reason. Not all are destined to be published. She attended a conference, she claimed that the people who conducted pilot studies reported a high prevalence of HIV. This report may be true or false. As a researcher, my job is to keep an open mind. Investigate, do a lit review, repeat the study. As for waiting for this report of this magnitude to be published before taking a decisive action, not in all cases During the COVID-19 pandemic, noone waited for the reports to be published before taking decisive actions. The lady may have spoken out of turn but I have learnt not to shun any report until it is further probed. |

higgs:You will be amazed to know that there are published papers out there whose reports may seem very outlandish but they are in fact true. One of them happens to be a paper that I recently sent to a high impact journal. The reviewer said that it was impossible for me to get such fantastic outcomes in my facility. I replied by inviting him over to see things for himself. The same paper was accepted for publication this month. Go figure |

Sp33i:If I do, my privacy will be violated but will update this post by sharing some studies with 'fantastic' outcomes that are in fact true. Found some examples 1. Worms used to treat illness Doctors actually infected patients with live hookworms to treat severe allergies and gut problems. It sounds mad—letting worms live inside you on purpose—but it worked. And yes, it’s published science. 2. Faeces as medicine There are real treatments where doctors take stool (yes, poo) from a healthy person and transplant it into someone else’s gut to cure infections. It’s called faecal transplant. Weird, but life-saving. Published in top journals. 3. Maggots used to clean wounds Doctors use live maggots to clean infected wounds. The maggots eat only the dead tissue, helping wounds heal faster. Disgusting? Maybe. But it’s real and approved in modern medicine. 4.While smoking is harmful overall, studies have shown that people with ulcerative colitis who smoke often have milder symptoms than non-smokers. Even more shocking? Nicotine patches have been used in clinical trials to help manage flare-ups in non-smokers with this condition. And lots more. Like I said earlier, I have learnt over time and decades of practice not to shun any report no matter how weird it sounds. That is a rookie mistake. Personally, I enjoy researching novel ideas, otherwise I get bored easily. The more weird is sounds, the better. If I was in infectious diseases, I would have enquired more to see if there was some truth to this report. I won't dismiss it completely just because some lady failed to choose her words carefully in her narrative report. Something clearly alarmed her and I would try my best to find out the details from my colleagues who attended the symposium. |

Glimpsetv:Didn't watch the video but if she said the quoted, then she should be ashamed of herself. HIV cannot spike from 5% to 75%. It means 3 out of every 4 people are positive which didn't happen even at the peak of the prevalence. She should apologize for being dull. |

She recalled that the prevalence rate was around 5% in 2020, but it has now reportedly skyrocketed to over 75%.I think it's even more than 75%, Nigeria has alot of people that are living with HIV more than South Africans, some are scared to take the test because of stigmatization or fear. The rate at which Nigerians have sex without protection has skyrocket because most of them thinks HIV is just a farcade even among teens. it's so terrible. |

She recalled that the prevalence rate was around 5% in 2020, but it has now reportedly skyrocketed to over 75%. This suggests, she emphasized, that approximately one in every ten people may now be living with HIV. Statistics, she said, indicate that the highest rates are found in Lagos and Abuja.Ki la wa fe she bayi (Wetin man go con do Now) ![]() Na to do HIV test before sleeping with anyone in Nigeria sure pass now.
