bayelsaowei:Trump won popular vote, 86% of the counties and the electoral college . Democrats don't have a Kennedy Democrat anymore , they replaced them with socialists. The president thing for you is to give everyone illegal voting rights becauae 99% chance they will vote for anything with a D. I read selfishness, haughtiness and smugness from you. |

IjeBos:@bold, is why ingrates in the Far-left helped Trump win again. I said he was the most progressive President so yes he was progressive because there is no other president since LBJ that has had his progressive records records. Anyway enjoy your retrogressive president currently in power. Since you folks cannot recognize a good thing and are waiting for perfect candidates. Also, Mandani or whatever his name is is an anti-semite. Using the term "settlers" is from the anti-semite playbook and Palestinians do not own that land. He and many progressives are anti-semites. Whatever genocide happening in Gaza is happening in Sudan and everywhere else but no scrutiny because no Jews, no news. Rubbish. |

bemeruca:They have yet to rule . Their ruling was on federal judges jurisdiction on injuctions. They have heard arguments already but not made a ruling. Strictly speaking I don't think at the time that birthright citizenship was granted to every Time Dick and Harry who got born on US soil. Precedent and judicial rulings since then have interpreted it as a right to all. If the SCOTUS agree with Trump expect unimaginable protests. With democrats vowing to expand the Supreme Court judge numbers. With judges personal safety at risk. Some crazed liberal lunatic wanted to assassinate Kavanaugh after Roe Vs Wade. A man for that matter |

Oh I get what you’re saying. He might not be progressive for what actually constitutes progressivism but by American standards he’s been the most progressive so far. Particularly grateful for the progressive judges he put in place in lower and middle courts. People really don’t know how right winged America truly is. Our left wing is maybe center left in other developed countries and the “far left” is really just left wing. That’s why people who live in the UK and Canada don’t know that when right wingers lie to them about the extremism of America’s extreme left, they are basically talking about people who just want what basic left wing policies they themselves have been benefiting from for decades. That’s also why I don’t even see Mamdani as far left. His “socialism” is basically social capitalism where the capitalist systems still remain in place with enhanced programs that socially help people stay afloat. But I guess time will tell. Elon Musk is aghast at the Big Beautiful Bill for increasing deficit limit and eliminating subsidies. Trump response. @realDonaldTrump Elon Musk knew, long before he so strongly Endorsed me for President, that I was strongly against the EV Mandate. It is ridiculous, and was always a major part of my campaign. Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one. Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!! Trump is too brash responding to every accusation in public. Well if you are wealthy , you can afford to be arrogant. Like Ijebos generational wealth ![]() |

I've always said that some of the people who virulently support children gender transitions may be paedophiles. They want to sexualize young kids and rape them. A 13 your old boy for instance starting to look feminine will unconsciously desire approving glances from the male species.Normal girls going through puberty mostly know it's part of growing up. It's very normal for people making conscious changes to their bodies to want to show off their new looks. There is nothing a body builder loves more than being praised for his chest muscles , biceps , abs etc and will dress conspicuously to show off. Same to a teenager undergoing transition , attracting the attention of predators if they are not the ones prodding him to transition. Jk Rowling gets to laugh last. Loudly. Budaatum. This is one big reason I oppose the Lbgtq movement.

Ibime:lol, don't play the scripture with me You ignore the emphasis in the scripture you quoted.Jeremiah 31 Vs 29 'In those days they shall say no more The fathers have eaten sour grapes, And the children’s teeth are set on edge.’ You ignored the part that says "people shall no longer say the proverb of parent eating sour grape and children having bad teeth. Ordinarily children will suffer the consequences of their parents, but in a caring society and in the new covenant of God, children are not supposed to inherit the curses upon their parents. Read it more clearly from Ezekiel 18:1-4: (NIV) 18 The word of the Lord came to me: 2 “What do you people mean by quoting this proverb about the land of Israel: “‘The parents eat sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge’? 3 “As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, you will no longer quote this proverb in Israel. 4 For everyone belongs to me, the parent as well as the child—both alike belong to me. The one who sins is the one who will die. I digress. In the community I grew up before we started building all these gated houses, (not far from Awolowo's community) even though our fingers were never equal, but the community joined hands to raise all the children. At least to have the basics. All the children will not wear the same cloths or play with the same toys, but my community would not allow a child of school age roaming the streets during school hours. All that is changing now I know, but that is where the government can come in and give a helping hand. Like you said, a good lunch might not cost up to $2, that is not a lot for government to spend on a kid per day compare to billions of $ wasted somewhere else. No one is asking the government to make all children comfortable like Billionaire kids, we are simply asking that they should be given a chance to survive and thrive. That is a cheaper investment compare to the cost of dealing with the mess they will create when they become nuisances to the society. If we fail to spend that money in feeding a needy child now, we will spend more to feed him/her as an adult in a prison (after a lot of damages and atrocities committed against the society) while we continue to blame the parent. |

ObaIgwe1:I hail you for the scriptures, however the cost of Government feeding the children is not £2 per week, that's the parents cost Government puts milk. juice, broccoli, carrot, potatoes, pasta, cheese and protein on the childrens table costing about £3 or more per plate per day So instead of parents spending £2 per week taxpayers are now paying like £15 per week to balance their plate |

Ibime:I have no problem if the debate is to cut off the waste and unnecessary luxury around the meal. I also support any good idea that can identify and attend to only those who really need these support. And sincerely Government need to criminalize parents who have no will, time or means to cater for children they give birth to. If I have the power, a lot of parents will be in jail by now including a number that japa and left no plan or means to cater for children they left behind. |

AmazonTopaz:You're using the language of the far right. They called Biden a socialist far left progressive President, the same thing they called Obama. I don't think Biden lost because of his policies but because of the prolonged media strategy on the right. I'm not even sure half the conservatives know what socialism or communism is. And I'm sure if any Dem would have suggested Social Security or Medicare today, the right would be calling it full blown socialism. As to settlers, that's what they are, that's what even Israel calls them and I believe they call their movement. They even have Government policies in place to support them like the "Ministry of Settlements and National Mission". As to who owns the land, I know some guy who lives in Ohio who becomes Jewish and decides to move to Israel doesn't own the land. What is happening in Gaza is happening with the aid and tacit support of the US. That is the reason why Americans care about it. Tell me how much money and weapons we give Sudan to kill other people. $0. But we have to stop using the word anti-semite as a means to stop debate and bludgeon people. Israel is a foreign country. And criticizing a foreign country does not make one hate all people of the Jewish religion. This in itself is a problem with what Israel is. They want to be a Jewish state than want to equate any criticism for their government's policies with criticism of their religion. There are plenty of Jews who criticise Israel's policies like Bernie Sanders. |

bemeruca:I believe they will rule against it. If you look at the context the 14th Amendment was clearly meant for the freed slaves. Doesn't seem to have been for everyone although it does explicitly say so. The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was adopted on July 9, 1868, during the Reconstruction era following the Civil War. It was a pivotal measure aimed at securing rights for newly freed enslaved people and redefining the relationship between the federal government and the states, particularly in the context of slavery’s abolition and its aftermath.Context Behind the 14th Amendment with Focus on Slavery:Post-Civil War and Abolition of Slavery: The Civil War (1861–1865) ended with the Union’s victory and the passage of the 13th Amendment in December 1865, which abolished slavery and involuntary servitude (except as punishment for a crime). However, the end of slavery left millions of African Americans in a precarious legal and social position. The 14th Amendment was crafted to ensure that the freedoms promised by emancipation were protected and to address the systemic inequalities that persisted. |

raumdeuter:You might want to first understand the difference between detained and arrested. You seem not to. And every one of my black friends talks to their children about Police interactions, how to manage them and that their parent's "success" won't afford them the same privilege of their white friends. You live in a world of cognitive dissonance. A world where one of the President's key supporters thinks dogs eat betterare cleaner than Africans and also in a world where that type of racism doesn't bleed into systems of government like policing. You're purposefully naive. I just don't understand what agenda it satisfies in your mind. |

IjeBos:Forgiving student loans, child tax credit, climate executive orders and so on are not progressive right? They are not the campaign promises he made to progressives abi? Biden is regarded as one of the most progressive Presidents in Legislation for decades. It is not a "Far-right" language but facts and there is nothing wrong with it because he had progressive legislation and policies he tackled that made him different from Obama, his judicial nominees and their records also add to the progressive label some experts gave him. Recognizing trans rights is even a progressive idea, something mainstream or blue dog Democrats shy away from. But Biden did and signed executive orders on that issue. I don't think Biden lost because of his policies but because of the prolonged media strategy on the right.Part of the reason why Biden isn't in office is because progressives decided to become ingrates and failed to tout his legislative record but instead began a purity culture on Biden because of Gaza. They forgot everything because of Gaza whereas their country was going to burn with Orange in power but they forgot all that because of Gaza and were "uncommitted, Jill Stein" voters. They played a part in the National sentiment against Biden which Republicans capitalized on when they started protesting in colleges. They used it to spread Islamophobia and anti-immigration sentiments, which was one of the reasons why Harris lost too. The Leftists player a part in it. They have been doing this nonsense since 2016. As to settlers, that's what they are, that's what even Israel calls them and I believe they call their movement. They even have Government policies in place to support them like the "Ministry of Settlements and National Mission"."Settlers" by Leftists refer to the entirety of Israel and not just the West Bank or East Jerusalem, same way they use the term "Colonizers" and "River to the sea" because they refuse to acknowledge the right of Israel to exist." It's pure anti-Semitism playbook. The Land historical was home to the Kingdoms of Judah and Northern Israel. Palestinians have no claim to that Land because they never exercised sovereignty over it, but instead were always under colonial rule. Colonial masters in anywhere always had administrative and governing control over their colony. Arabs are not indigenous to the region, they are not even indigenous to Saudi Arabia. That said, if everyone had agreed to the 1947 map nobody would be fighting today. What is happening in Gaza is happening with the aid and tacit support of the US. That is the reason why Americans care about it.Israel would still defend itself without America, When America was on its imperialists campaign to other regions, we didn't see Americans on the street despite their tax dollars being involved in those conquest. anti-Semitism, rightly applies to anyone who refuses to accept that Israel has a right to exist, refuses to acknowledge it's a country that must defend itself just like any other country would and believes that Israelis are colonizers who are not indigenous to the land. Many rhetorics like "globalize the intifada" "River to the Sea" "Watermelon" etc are all anti Semitic. When you criticize Israel the way you would any other country then you are not an anti-semite however when you use anti-semitic dog whistles and aim to target Jewish people like many critiques do in their rhetoric of the Far-left then indeed they are anti-semites. That there are Jews who criticize Israel doesn't water down that many criticisms are rooted in anti-semitism. |

IjeBos:How many of the people who post here and live outside Nigeria have been detained that frequently. So why always you. Everyone talks to their kids about police interaction even in Nigeria, If black friends talk to their kids about police interaction, Is it that no one spoke to you about police interactions? Or despite the talks you still get "detained" more than the average |

Ibime:Ibime, when I went to Nigeria, I was at a time selling eggs and can coke at the Lagos end of Ibadan expressway. Danfo would stop on my tiny foot while I try to collect 50 kobo, and when I get home some poor woman will be begging ma for food for her 5 kids. I'll let you imagine who's money they sometimes got. I got one Naira a week for school, which covered transport to and fro for the five days. Monday, I'd spend 20 kobo on transport, and being flush, 20 kobo on rumbling stomach alleviation. Food was not provided at school, and home rid not provide a packed lunch. Breakfast was ogi. On Tuesday, I'd spend 10 kobo on food and 20 on transport, and by Wednesday morning I'd have 30 kobo left. That left me with 10 kobo to get to school that day and the 2 days left in the week, so no food, and no transport money to get home, meaning I got to walk the 5 miles. My first job after school was at my uncle's sawmill for food and board, till I returned home to UK and worked at Favourite Fried Chicken for £1.10 an hour. I support school meals for underprivileged kids because its not their fault their parents can't or just don't provide them with a healthy diet. And investing in those kids makes it less likely they'd be a liability on society, and make them valuable tax paying assets. Our difference in opinion on this issue makes me glad there's democracy. I wouldn't want you to unilaterally impose starvation on underprivileged kids, and I wouldn't want the power to ban hard up or irresponsible parenting. And note. Free school meals and transport are simply an extension of the benefit system that is directly focused on the kid. |

cococandy:I have always maintained that money shouldn't be in politics. I know money is important in every area of life but what I mean is that, billionaires shouldn't be donating that's why Citizens United remains one of the worst decisions of this Roberts Supreme Court. Billionaire money, influencing policies shouldn't be in government. I would have completely criticized lobbying but I know that lobby can be for good. If I could I would support lobbying for women's rights legislation across the globe so I cannot be against lobbying because it can benefit even the underprivileged. I believe in government regulating Capitalism in the form of labour rights, ethics and practices etc but to end Capitalism to an extent where it stifles ideas and innovation and wants to regulate how billionaires earn money. No way. However, billionaires should be taxed, infact the higher your income the higher your tax, but I believe that everybody should pay tax. The tax the higher income is taxed should be used for government social welfare programs, that's only where government should intervene. Wanting to stifle Capitalists is why you see them influencing government policy in the first place, aside from the fact that many can be evil, corrupt and greedy like the politicians but it doesn't mean that non-billionaires cannot be terrible as these people. The difference between a poor and rich person is access. ![]() HOWEVER, if the said billionaire is paying their fair share of taxes, their workers are well compensated for the value of profits they bring to the company and MOST IMPORTANTLY they are not being propped up by tax payer money , then it’s their money and they have a right to itThis. Their workers should be well compensated, paid that's why labour rights/laws must be strengthened to avoid exploitation, this is where the government must come in. The Walmart family of billionaires for example makes sure they keep most of their workers under full time hours so they’d not have to provide healthcare for them by law. They also don’t provide paid maternity leave or a livable wage etc. they are notorious for being the largest company in the USA whose workers have to depend on govt aid and food stamps to feed.I didn't even know Walmart was owned by a family, many billionaire American families are evil. Look at the Koch family funding Republicans evil policies, these people should be out of government and that's why Citizens United I hope I get to see it one day, be overturned. Capitalism is good the problem with American Capitalism is greed caused by unregulated capitalism which is as evil as Socialism and Communism. |
