90% of Nigerians living abroad don't even have N20 million saved up or equivalent, and you want to go join them. You are funny and the comments are full of delusional people giving silly advice.
90% ? Na wha o. While I wont advise someone without a reasonable plan to japa with such money, it is also important to let you know that you can save 20M NGN in USA within a year.

If yes you can go thru diploma .. for Canada

Just have it at the back of your mind that you need to be determined and see yourself leaving this country for good. Do not let anyone or anything hold you back

Hy Fellow Nigerians,

I think I have accomplished all my missions in Nigeria and it's time for a new chapter. But I still have some bottlenecks to settle before making the best decision.

I'm late twenties.A Bsc holder. Here are my issues at the moment.

1. The right country to choose.
2. The right skill
3. In a serious relationship

My target countries are Australia & Canada but open to any European country( Schengen country) that would be good to start life as a family person and have an easier route to Permanent Residence or citizenship.

I'm a crypto trader and I don't think it's something that's viable overseas. Have been trying to learn Cyber security but I'm.not consistent with it. But would be open to learn any other skill that would ensure I settle properly and take care of myself and family.

On the last note, I'm in a serious relationship for the past 6 months and contemplating on getting married first before moving or moving first before adding any more load to my burden.

My friends advised me to end everything and save my head first because it won't be easy moving in as a spouse in a new country.

To be honest, I need to make a fast decision before the end of this year as everything seems to no longer move on my side at the moment since late last year, and I don't want to lose my savings before making the right decisions.

Looking forward to your valuable contributions why I read and make the most important decisions of my life at the moment.

20 million naira is just 13000 USD. I am only letting you know.
Yeah, 2014 before the apc miscreants came in 20m was $133,000.
When Tinubu came in after buhari 2 years ago, 20m was $43,000.
Today just after 2 years of this desaster 2m is just a little over $12,000!
From $133,000 to $12,000 in 10 years of apc, buhari and especially Tinubu and Nigerians are not outraged. Where in the world will this happen and the same people are seeking re- election and still having folks cheering them? How can anyone even support this based on eg ethnic cards?

What's the root cause of this japa syndrome?

Is it a kind of blind urge or simply sheer madness?

Having the sum of N20m in your bank account in Nigeria could give you and your family the good life if properly managed.

It's not always green on the other side!

One often hear of success stories of many Nigerians abroad but, mute on many who are languishing in penury and even in jail.

But for shame, many would want to japada.

Nigeria is a land flowing with milk and honey if you can think outside of the box.

Besides, East, West, North and South, home remains the best.

If all man japa finish, who go remain for Nigeria?

Nigeria na we own and na we go make am great!

We die here!

Stupidity is when you think you cannot make it and live in the best places in Nigeria with a multipliable N20million and plausibly just go for vacation, study or business trips, any where else.

With your current line of business, you are better off in Nigeria, making money in dollars and spending very cheaply in Naira.

Only the very frustrated church rats, would abuse or curse people advising you to stay. Why can't they just give out their own opinion and move on, without attacking other people?

I really do not understand you guys suggesting Canada PR like it’s something that’s easy or quick. It really takes times and there are points to meet for it to be considered. I believe OPs question is towards where his 20M can take him to comfortably and possibly still push him for a couple of months before he gets a job. In that case, I believe going to Europe. Op since you have 20M liquid cash, try the Germany opportunity card. Its straight forward. You’ll need to add some more funds cause to need to have a 12k euros block account. Or try other EU countries study route like Portugal, Spain, Italy , Belgium, Malta e.t.c with your money, you’ll comfortably pay your tuition and still have some money to sustain you for some months before you get a job. Other expensive options are Finland, Netherlands, Sweden, Ireland. Your money will get you there but it’s going to be a bit hard to sustain your self for the first few months. I say this because I’m a big fan of paying your full tuition before migrating, it lifts a lot of pressure from you. To work and pay school fees isn’t beans. You need to use your study time to also pick up a skill in I.T or else where, and you need to be good at it. When you are very good, you’ll get a good job in the long run.

Didn’t proof read, sorry for any typo errors in the post

Bro everything was sounding good... until you stated serious relationship grin

Frankly speaking serious relationship in some cases, even marriages & Japa don't belong in the same sentence... unless you are also preparing to come up here to give a relationship update #stories-that-touch 2years after japa.

If you are not planning to go the same time with her, then you are in for a verrrrry looooooong rope.

As for which country is good for you... bro it's simple: do your research, you know your preferences, situation, finances and hussle strength better.... for some people, Chile was good, for others Germany, some the UK, some Portugal, some New Zealand while others Uruguay, some even China!

So bro pick your battle.

There's a plethora of info out there for you to adequately consult directly based on your specific requirements and circumstances including AI engines.

Asking us, would just have us merely giving common suggestions to a serious matter, based on the basic picture we have from what you only used some few sentences to describe

Nice plan you have dude .
But don't forget before you travel make sure to counsel your " chi " ( Not church ) for guidance and fruitful journey. No just travel like that or else your village people might frustrate you.
Heed this advice.

Continue to play. I paid all my whole fees from Nigeria with the savings I had. My tuition fees for the two years was higher than what the op is holding in dollars. I also paid a years worth of rent. I learnt the language of the country I was going to. I had gathered work experience and knowledge in Nigeria and even with all this I saw hell. The op is travelling without any skills. What is crypto trading and he only has 13000 usd and he’s being advised to go to places like Canada, USA and co. Places where a month of rent is nothing less than 1000 usd a month. I will always advise anyone to leave Nigeria but if you aren’t prepared you are better off in Nigeria.

My candid advice are:
1. Relocate to Australia
2. Marry your fiance on a low key, do just court wedding. If you can't go with her now, she will join you later. That will give you a sense of belonging.
3. When you get to any country of your choice, do some certification training on the skills you want to learn.

Note: there is no woman abroad you will marry when you come. Don't allow anybody deceive you. Everybody dey hustle.

I join hubby 1year later after he moved to the UK. Now we are good.

Leave that thing called Nigeria and Japa asap. Trust me you will never regret leaving Nigeria.
In what way will marrying her give him a sense of belonging? You guys sha!

JapaProf:
For a start, consider going to an African country for a postgraduate course, Brazilian government scholarship (GCUB) is currently out, you can apply on one hand to see if you will get it, will make your relocation journey easy, after completing your Masters in Brazil, you can move to Australia for your PhD.

Canada offers a well defined pathway to citizenship, you can learn French since you are in your late twenties, ace TEF and IELTS and apply for PR from Nigeria.

Kenya, South Africa, Brazil.

This is your call to make but will advise you prioritize moving first. But can be an edge if you are considering Canada's PR.

True.

Also, important to note that to apply for a Canadian study visa, you need $20,635 as cost of living, as from September 2025, it will be $22,895.

The scholarship from the Brazilian government will close on July 13 2025, so make hay.

You can consider schools in the USA and possible funding for a research program, but you need a powerful letter of motivation/personal statement.

South Africa and Kenya have good schools too.
In South Africa
Wits University
University of Pretoria
University of Cape Town
Durban University of Technology.

In Kenya
University of Nairobi
Strathmore University.

If your age will permit you to start and do a Master's program before age 30 in Nigeria, do it and apply for PhD programs in Australia or use it to boost your PR application to Canada, actively learn French too.

Cheers

Japaying is always the best if you are going with rights to work.

Wether UK, America, anywhere as long as you have the right to live and work.

Most of those people saying abroad hard have no documents to live and work.
For instance, in UK, with postgraduate study visa of 18months you go save about 40 Million naira in just that 18months

Because you have rights to work you can do two jobs making like 2500 after tax

You rent all inclusive bills room for 600

Eat with 200

Transport and phone data 100

Miscellaneous 300

That is 1200 remaining 1300

Save 1300 x 18 =£23,400 about 55M

Is that not a good investment?

I agree with you absolutely. It's hard for me to see any wisdom in 'japa' if somebody has built a solid financial foundation for himself and has been able to legitimately make up to 20 million Naira right here in Nigeria and is capable of making more. What kind of comfortable life and paradise can you not create in Nigeria with that level of money making capacity? The japa thing just doesn't make any sense.

The guy is even sounding like he made the money by some accident and may exhaust it any moment from now if he does not japa fast
