TOPIC: It’s Time To Pray For Your Political Leaders

1 Timothy 2: 1-4
"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."

*MESSAGE*

God wants us to lavish quality time on raising incense of intercession for our leaders. Aside the fact that it will produce a good society that will enable believers tend their personal relationships with the Lord with ease, a functional society without violence and chaos will also make the work of soul winning and establishment flourish as it ought to. 

So, when God says we should pray for our leaders, He is also looking beyond those ungodly leaders, but looking towards the souls that will be brought into His kingdom when the society is now being driven by kingdom principles one way or the other. 

Jesus said: “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38)

It will be easy for labourers to come in and join themselves to kingdom ventures if we have a great and prosperous society. This is one of the major factors Europe and America could afford to send Missionaries to other parts of the world many years ago. 

As personal godliness cannot easily flourish in a dilapidated society, kingdom services will also suffer in a dysfunctional society. For instance, if there is constant violence in an area, evangelistic efforts will be frustrated. 

Hence, we must keep praying for our political leaders intentionally so that through them, the Lord can grant us a conducive society for us and His Will to thrive.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made concerning all sorts of men, concerning kings and all those who are in high positions, so that we may go on leading a calm and quiet life with complete godly devotion and seriousness. This is fine and acceptable in the sight of our Savior, God, whose will is that all sorts of people should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth. 1Timothy 2:1-4

Paul wasn't saying Christians should pray for politicians rather we are to pray so that they won't see our activities as threat to their rulership and thus make policies that will hinder us from preaching and teaching freely about the Kingdom of God.

What the scriptures teaches is that Jesus who is the Prince of Peace {Isaiah 9:6} is coming with his angels {Matthew 16:27} to destroy all human governments {Daniel 2:44} along with all their supporters {Revelations 19:19} who don't believe in the kingdom of God and His Christ! Luke 19:27

With this message true Christians don't participate in politics because Jesus taught them that Satan began the sole ruler of the earth right from the moment John the baptist and Jesus of Nazareth started calling people to put faith in the kingdom of God! Matthew 3:2; 4:17 compare to John 14:30; 2Corinthians 4:4; 1John 5:19

So supporters of human governments who have received the mark of the beast {Revelations 13:18} will feel offended and start hunting believers in the kingdom of Christ so our heartfelt prayer to God should be to divert the minds of these human governments to their opponents who are seeking way to replace them not we that rely on God's Kingdom!

And for them to make policies that will help keep relative peace in the society where we live in order for us to go about our preaching and teaching assignments that Jesus gave us! Matthew 28:19-20; Act 1:8
