Why don't we apply common sense here, is it police that would annul a marriage or the court? Police can only serve you the annulment papers but it is the actual court that issues the ruling. The article's failure to clarify this is what I'm pointing out not the moral justification.

Next, why would powerful people ridicule themselves this way? Sons and daughters of powerful people are so concerned about their inheritance they do not dare disobey their parents. You'll never see the children of powerful Northern people marrying someone without parental consent hence there's no case to present. If you have an example please share, as far as I know, not one single example exists!

Again I'm not here to litigate the morality of this but the actual legality, annulment is an actual legal document, Hisbah clearly did not initiate this, the initiators are the parents and Hisbah must still process it through Sharia court in order to get the actual annulment document.

Further, if you have examples of children of the Northern elites marrying without parental consent please share. Any other thing is just mere speculation! Sounds like you can neither prove or disprove the theory hence the argument lacks merit!

In the North, men are expected to marry at 20. He is 22. A female is expected to do so at 16.

That's what the responsible parents want so there's no need for further comments.

They are smart parents. If they don't get a court order to dissolve the marriage then the marriage stands by law.

The ex-bride should go prepare for her WAEC and JAMB next year and the guy should wait if he truly loves her.
