This thread isn’t moving because everyone is sending PM/DM I have received a lot of DM’s since I posted here about my sisters trip and I am not responding to any of them so you might as well stop sending it. Ask your questions here so that everyone can contribute |

Hi 👋 1.I flew Lufthansa Airline and in their defence, all the other airlines experienced one issue or the other so it wasn't unique to them. I have flown their airline at other seasons and experienced none of this. Thankfully they put us in hotels so the inconvenience wasn't too unbearable. 2. I travelled at 31weeks pregnant and my hospital had already collated my antenatal record up until my last appointment. I got a fit to fly certificate at the airport (the nurse basically checks to confirm that you are really at what stage you claim to be, measures your stomach and just issues the card- we paid 10k for this). I didnt experience any issue at all here. 3. No, I didnt try to dress my bump because I didnt anticipate any issues at the POE. If I did, I could have dressed and just said I came visiting. Again, I believe God took control here because it is apparently a problem to be coming here just to give birth. Best wishes. Towerofgrace: |

I want to know if this applies to Canada. Can i travel with a new passport along with my old passport that has the Visa? My passport is to be renewed and my canada visa is still valid. I know this is obtainable when travelling to US. I don't if it is obtainable to travelling to Canada. |

Please do you now have details of the midwife your sister used in Ontario, also you can please share how she got the emergency certificate that she used. Thank you for not responding in the DMs so all us can gain from it nwauwa: |

iykmon:yes I believe you can. Because the new passport quotes the old passport number and the old passport has the visa |

Hi Everyone, I have a few questions: Has anyone traveled between 34-35 weeks pregnant? What’s the lowest birth cost in Toronto & hospital for a visitor (between 6-8k CAD)? |
| Re: Giving Birth In Canada by njidekachi: 10:18pm On Jul 24, 2025 |
Yrs, I travelled at 35 weeks. You need to check your airlines rules Vannesa: |

Just send the docs to Ottawa. It usually takes 7-10 business working days to process ChisomGbulie: |

Hello @Vanessa poster, please DO NOT work with this lady here, I hope it's not too late and you haven't already done so. I used her and her family at Brampton and it was a horrible experience for me, they were terrible. I saw a comment on this thread about someone else's horrible experience at Brampton and I'm almost sure it was from this lady and her family. mummyDsquare: |

Good evening All Recall the post that mentioned that Medicom in Calgary has increased the deposit to $20k CAD. This information is correct. If you plan to birth in Calgary, note that you will now be required to deposit $20k CAD. An increase from the initial required deposit of $15k CAD. The administrative fee has also increased from $300CAD to $1800 CAD. The balance of your deposit will be refunded to you within 10 weeks after you have your baby. |

LilBabe1:@LilBabe1 I can confirm that this information is correct. It doesn't just apply in Calgary, it applies both in Edmonton (across Alberta). I wanted to confirm from you based on your previous experience, it's the process of refund when you don't exhaust the 20k CAD easy, can someone help you to clear the cheque if you have already left Canada. Also, please I will like to know the process of getting birth certificate, passport and visa on arrival timely, as my madam plans to leave Canada within 4 weeks after delivery. Thanks and waiting for your response |

My Birth Gist I will like to contribute to this movement by dropping my own experience I landed Canada 7th Nov 2024 POE was smooth, no questions about my pregnancy whatsoever. I traveled at 31weeks 6days but my belly was like I was 40weeks gone cos I was having twins. So I guess they just didn’t care about it or my God was not sleeping 😁 I came in with my mom and they just wanted to know who we would be staying with and if we have visited before. I stayed at Milton with relative so no no accommodation expenses As for getting a doctor, we just walked into one of the doctors office close by, she was even Nigerian, sent me for tests and scan. She referred me to the hospital where I gave birth (credit Valley) Breakdown I can’t remember the exact figures of all amount paid. Family doctor fee- 60 (every visit) Test- 320-400 1st scan at 33wks- 450 So twins pregnancy is considered high risk, so I have to do scan every 2 weeks and I was referred to MFM (maternal fetal medicine) they handle high risk pregnancy 2nd scan at 35wks- $370 (this was done in the hospital I gave birth credit valley mississauga) Hospital visit- $350 MFM visit- $720 Additional test- $120 Because I was already 35wks the doctor said I didn’t need another visit and would schedule me for delivery at 36wks but I asked her to schedule me for 37wks cos I wanted babies to bake well. For Mono-di Twins, they’re not allowed to go pass 37wks because they share a placenta. Obgyn- $3000 Hospital fee- $5300 Once the babies were born, OHIP kicked in, so I didn’t have to pay anything for them. After I got back home this pple still sent me additional bill of $750 for pathology 🤧🥴😩 I paid with tears I applied for birth certificate and one was processed and the second twins own wasn’t processed, had to raise a request for it to be treated immediately as we are traveling back soon. Birth certificate came, passport now decided to be unfortunate. Made the mistake of going to mississauga passport office, the crowd and queue was something else. The office is in a mall, but the queue started from outside the mall and it was during winter 🥶 I submitted the request but because my hubby was in naija he had to go to Canada high commission to sign. PS- if your husband is not with you, the moment you put to birth or even earlier try and book the appointment for him to sign. I was supposed to travel back Feb 3rd, the only available appointment date was in March. We had to send them email appealing for a closer date with travel documents and still the date they gave us was Feb 6th, so I had to move my travel date. The journey wasn’t easy but I met an awesome mom @aprilborn here and we literally went through the whole process together sharing ideas and information, having her made the whole journey easier. Hope this helps |

@leksite120 Thanks for sharing the information about your wife's experience regarding birthing in Canada. Please, we are preparing for something similar in Toronto this winter and I will appreciate any useful information especially as it relates to the contact with Charity Organization and getting a Doctors appointment. djsaintboss:@djsaintboss: Based on both my experiences, they always refund when you don’t exhaust the deposit made. Refunds are processed within 10weeks after after the birth of the child. The second refund actually came in less than 10weeks after the birth of the child. They can issue you a cheque or send you a direct deposit. They’ll ask your preference for this. It its a cheque, someone can help you deposit this as well. But I guess a direct transfer will always be easier. On the birth documents, you can process all within 4 weeks after delivery. I got mine under 4 weeks and left when the baby was 4 weeks. Its also faster to process when the father of the baby is around (in-country). But yes, its possible to process all within the 4 weeks timeframe. You need to apply for the birth certificate online, as soon as the baby arrives. It takes less than a week for that to come in. Once you receive it, you can apply for the emergency travel certificate (ETC), there is no visa on arrival for babies. Note that you dont need a passport to apply for the ETC, so you can do both at the same time to meet the timeline you stated. The passport can be applied for at the relevant office closest to you and can be ready in days or weeks, depending on your travel itinerary and when you indicate you need the passport for. For ETC, you need to share all the requested information to Ottawa as indicated on the website- reach out to the airline to include the child in the itinerary because you would also need to send this. The ETC also took us 2 weeks as well. Once you receive the ETC and passport, you are good to roll. I hope this helps. |
