Tinubu, ACN Contributed Insignificant Votes To Buhari's Election - Boss Mustapha by fergie001(mod): 1:26pm On Jul 09, 2025
Boss Mustapha is a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation under the Buhari administration

For the first time since 2022 when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a presidential aspirant declared he made former President Muhammadu Buhari Nigeria’s President in 2015, the immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha has dismissed the claims, stressing that the merger only produced three million votes, in addition to the Buhari’s existing 12 million votes in the North.

Re: Tinubu, ACN Contributed Insignificant Votes To Buhari's Election - Boss Mustapha by emkz:
Many of those who worked under Buhari have turned out to be ingrates because of unemployment.

In 2011, coalition talks failed as Buhari refused to concede the vice presidential ticket to Tinubu's camp. In 2015, the merger paid off when Buhari conceded the vice presidential slot to Tinubu.

The additional 3 million votes led to offsetting Jonathan's votes by 2,571,759.

Without Tinubu, Saraki and some others, Buhari would never have won that election and Babachir and Boss Mustapha would not have been SGF.

Tinubu contributed immenseley to rebranding Buhari and successfully removed the tag of religious fundamentalism from Buhari, which influenced Buhari's marketability.

Despite Buhari's team sidelining Tinubu during Buhari's tenure, Tinubu remained true to the party. Despite the party abandoning APC Edo during Obaseki's second term campaign, Tinubu supported the party. Despite many in Buhari's camp refusing to openly campaign for Tinubu, Tinubu campaigned as if his life depended on it. Buhari later joined when it became clear he was being unfair to Tinubu.

Now, many of Buhari's disciples who feel sidelined are now undermining Tinubu. Osinbajo himself undermined Tinubu by running against him and got served. It's been only two years, and many of Buhari's disciples cannot stay the course. Buhari and Tinubu were the arrowheads of APC. Buhari had his time, Tinubu also deserves his time. After Buhari, Tinubu took more heat on behalf of APC during Buhari's tenure.

There were rumours that some people in Buhari's government were more disposed to an Atiku presidency when the Ahmad Lawan project failed. The way they are trooping to the coalition, it is clear where they stood.

Even if Babachir, Boss Mustapha, Malami, Laureta Onochie and some Buhari's closest fellows detest Tinubu, they should be reminded that Buhari would never have been president without Tinubu's support.

To politicians, think of the future. Do not make enemies because of temporary hunger. You abuse Tinubu today. Tomorrow, you might need someone from his camp to support you. Why should he trust you?

PS: To the fellow below:
Typing:
This one is pained already. We told you people, the North will no longer vote for Tinubu. We made Tinubu President but Yoruba people don dey misbehave. We will disgrace Tinubu with our votes in 2027
I do not know why you assume I am pained. If Tinubu does not perform to your expectation, vote him out. That is your democratic right. If he fails, I'd support him to go home. My survival is not tied to Tinubu being in power or anyone else. But what we will not accept is the lie that those whose records in public office embarass them that they cannot even publicly talk about it are the ones to rescue Nigeria. We must rescue Nigeria from those who sold government assets to their friends. We must rescue Nigeria from those who destroyed NITEL and ruined power sector reforms. We must rescue Nigeria from those who used their positions to influence their wives getting 4 billion naira monthly to train Niger Delta women on only gawd knows what. We must rescue Nigeria from religious extremists who said EU election observers will return in body bags. We must rescue Nigeria from those whose accomplisments were prison breaks and declaration of public holidays. We must recue Nigeria from those who slap vulnerable women in shops asking "do you know who I am?" We must rescue Nigeria from those who built an uneconomic and voodoo railway from Kano to Maradi and refused to build a maritime university in the Niger Delta. We must rescue Nigeria from the Church of Emergency Messiahs of Nigeria of Latter Day Saints. We must rescue Nigeria from you!

That's an undisputed fact... Jonathan losing middle belt was what cost him the election

Plateau, tarraba, Benue, nassarawa, Adamawa this are where Jonathan lost the election

In 2019 it was so that if you remove all voted Buhari got from South he still won

This is like saying Tinubu Jagaban was inconsequential in the victory of Buhari.

No wonder he was sidelined during Buhari's government. And no wonder Buhari is silent now.

I wonder how he will be able to be useful to his own self in the next election as it's now evident that the north has left him behind and have scores to settle.

ÓMÓ TINUBU IS A OTP.

And Buhari was not in the race with a fellow northerner but a southerner who had agreed to a single term after completing 2 years for Yar’Adua.

The northerner had already commented on the low voter turn out from the west for Tinubu . They were shocked that Tinubu struggled in the west . Buhari won because of the north votes, same for Tinubu you can’t be president without the north.

Now I understand why almost all Buhari cabinets are against Tinubu.

They were working unchecked all through their tenure that they feel it should be business as usual under Tinubu.

Buhari weeps over nation’s problems

Says this is his last outing for the Presidency
=Says he didn’t touch any kobo while in office
=Challenges other candidates now and before to say same
By HENRY UMORU
ABUJA— IT was a solemn moment, Wednesday, as the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, and former Military Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, broke down in tears while lamenting the problems confronting the country.

The venue was the International Conference Centre, Abuja.     Buhari broke down in tears    at the  event organised by the party to mark the end of its presidential campaign.  Buhari wept intermittently as he managed to conclude his   12 page address.

Vice presidential candidate of CPC, Pastor Tunde Bakare, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, ex- Secretary of Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd.) who were on the high table as Buhari sobbed in between words were also moved to tears as they used their handkerchiefs to control sipping tears.
L-R CPC Vice presidential candidate Pastor Tunde Bakare, CPC Presidential candidate, Gen. Muahammadu Buhari (Rtd) and Former FCT Minister Mallam El-Rufai at grand finale of Buhari’s presidential campaign held at International Conference Centre, Abuja today

Ife Oyedele, a member of the Board of Trustees, BoT of the party, however, wept profusely throughout the period Buhari spoke.

Emotions

The emotions created by Buhari’s sobs inevitably led to the abrupt disruption of the question and answer session with newsmen that was scheduled to follow.

In his speech, Buhari had said that the 2011 contest would be his last pursuit of the presidency stressing  that while he occupied the office of military head of state, he never touched a kobo of public funds. He thus challenged other presidential candidates who had occupied public office to a public attestation of his claim.

“After being head of state, I am sure I could easily have retired into a life of comfort and ease as an elder statesman, as a contractor or as a beneficiary of anyone of the nation’s many generous prebendal offerings.

But that is not what I wish to do with my life. And so, if I don’t take any of these alternative courses of action, it should be clear that I am not in this for the love of office or for pursuit after personal glory or in order to achieve some personal goal. Far be it from me that this should be.

Re: Tinubu, ACN Contributed Insignificant Votes To Buhari's Election - Boss Mustapha by givedemwotowoto:
Gbas gbos. Tinubu barely won Lagos for Buhari in 2015, and Peter Obi won him in Lagos, Atiku won him in Osun. His political power is very limited to a few states in the SW, everything else is just gra gra

If not for what Wike did in Rivers, Peter Obi was ready to win so big in Rivers that his opponents wouldn’t have gotten up to 25% combined. If you doubt me look at Fubara’s votes, PO was supposed to get much more than that because Presidential election gets more turnout than governorship election. Rivers alone would’ve put PO at #1 and Tinubu at #3

Only Peter Obi as flag bearer of the coalition can guarantee Tinubu’s defeat at the polls in 2027.

Re: Tinubu, ACN Contributed Insignificant Votes To Buhari's Election - Boss Mustapha by Zincfingers:
Boss Mustapha must have developed senile dementia.
Anyway, the lousy clown was largely a peripheral figure during the merger process .
Clowns like Boss Mustapha were the reasons why the Buhari administration struggled to perform to expectation.
Would Buhari had become the president without those ‘meager’ 2 million votes with its attendant 25% spread - per the electoral act ??
Moving on,

The APC’s victory wasn’t just sealed on the day of the 2015 presidential election. The victory was won months before then.

- Buhari had contested albeit unsuccessfully in 2003, 2007 and 2011 . How come his 12 million votes didn’t take him to Aso Rock

- The merger was briefly muted in 2011 but it couldn’t pull through .

- The merger was a brain child of Tinubu. So the candidacy of Buhari was pre determined and all efforts were geared at the delivery of his candidacy during the primary elections of the APC in Lagos in 2014.

- The perpetual contestant called Atiku was pushed into 3rd position during the primary by machinations of the Tinubu block .

- Buhari hitherto known as a hardliner and an unelectable bigot was refurbished and polished as a democrat. The SW medial arsenal was successfully mobilized to achieve this

- Tinubu not only took Buhari to Chatham house to show him to the world but he also employed Barak Obama’s publicist to help with the campaign .

- Lagos became the epicenter of the struggle for Buhari’s ascendancy . The media , intellectuals, business moguls and traditional establishments in Lagos tilted to him

- Tinubu’s private jet , resources and contacts were mobilized for Buhari .

- I still remember vividly how Buhari visited UI numerous times prior to the election. The UI was the intellectual base that delivered Buhari . This is how Adewole emerged the health minister after he left as VCship of UI

- Buhari himself and Aisha knew what went down between 2012 and 2015 and they reciprocated the gesture in 2023 even when hawks like Boss Mustapha tried to do the opposite.

It’s now crystal clear that it was folks like Mustapha who were the so called Aso Rock insiders supporting Atiku against their own party in 2023.

Lilliputians like Boss Mustapha were no where the ground zero of events that ultimately produced Buhari in 2015 .
Buhari wasn’t deaf when Tinubu roared ‘emilokan’ in Abeokuta . It was a call to remind Buhari about their agreement.

The end has justified the means !
CPC has ruled and now ACN is ruling .
Boss Mutapha should keep his opinion where the sun doesn’t shine 🫵🏾

fergie001:

Boss Mustapha should know better. Revisionism or Amnesia. so let's jug up his memory.
By 2015, Muhammadu Buhari was a northern juggernaut with zero traction in the south. He lost three consecutive elections—2003, 2007, and 2011—failing to secure even 2% in any southern state. Buhari had reach in the desert but no bridge to the coast.

Enter Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The 2015 victory wasn’t divine—it was strategic. Tinubu brought the political architecture, the South West votes, the elite coordination, and the ACN machinery that formed the APC. That party wasn’t born in the north—it was negotiated in Lagos and midwifed across the Niger.

To now hear Boss Mustapha suggest Buhari could’ve done it alone is more than false—it’s dangerous revisionism. In 2011, Buhari won zero southern states. In 2015, thanks to Tinubu, he won Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti—securing the crucial two-thirds spread.

This wasn’t a northern coronation. It was a coalition presidency—and Tinubu was the hinge.

If the northern elite think they can return to power without meaningful southern alliance, they’re politically deaf. Nigeria isn’t ruled by nostalgia. It’s steered by negotiated balance.

👉 Don’t erase the bridge that carried you.
👉 Don’t bite the hand that delivered you.

Boss Mustapha should know better.

Who doesn't know...... with their inconsequential votes they have been barking up and down. The same thing happened in 2023 if not for the north either Atiku or Obi would have been president by now. It's good the north learned their lessons.
Tinubu never made Buhari president, he didn't. That you decided not to contest in the primary election does not mean you made the winner the president

Yes, those votes magically vanish and are not added to GEJ like they were in the past. Also those votes count nothing towards the 25% he needs to get in 2/3 of Nigeria.
