Russia Plans To Import One Million Labor Migrants From India by Botragelad(op): 6:24am On Jul 10, 2025

Russia is set to bring in 1 million workers from India by the end of the year, including highly skilled specialists, to address critical labor shortages in its industrial sectors, particularly in the Sverdlovsk region.

Andrey Besedin, head of the Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCPP), shared this plan, citing Indian colleagues. A new Indian consulate in Yekaterinburg will support the effort. Besedin also revealed that Russia is exploring similar arrangements with Sri Lanka and North Korea, noting their potential to fill workforce gaps.

The shortages stem from local workers joining the war in Ukraine and young people avoiding factory jobs. However, he cautioned that integrating these migrants will be challenging due to cultural differences and unfamiliar work practices.

Thanks to Putin, Russia has dug itself into a massive hole. They’re scraping the bottom of the barrel for allies, begging Iran, North Korea, Laos, Sri Lanka, and now even trying to recruit Indian laborers.

What do you call this? The war is destroying Russia from within, their people are dying younger, and now they’re so desperate for workers they need to import a million Indians. A million! Let that sink in. How far the ‘mighty’ Russia has fallen. Lol

This is good for India. They will earn FX and send remittances back home. Will also reduce unemployment, they’ll learn new skills and do skills transfer.
