My brother..... Your guess is as good as mine . They are all corrupt, they only complain when the corruption doesn't benefit them . One thing I agree with the millionaire grass cutter on is that APC is a failed political experiment
RealityKings1:
Seems Babachir Lawal needs some millions to cut grasses around the Coastal project grin

you say am as e dey happen. OBJ was the only one that reduce the debt and after that na spending galore by all these politicians.

we are not ready for democracy shocked shocked

nedekid:
Nigerians get what they deserve. They want to see projects costing billions as evidence a government is doing well, eg some will say a politician like Obi had no projects to show when he was governor, but obiano came and built airport etc. The issue here is timing.
Look at your personal life and business. Is it when your source of income or business is facing challenges, your stock is down, your capital is depleted, you are in debt, you then go and secure loans to use to build new office complex, furnish it, then buy new official vehicles, you then build a new mansion for yourself? On the other hand you collect either collect the loan or even manage whatever money you can find, invest the money in new goods in your shop, nurse the business, cut all unnecessary expenses, over time as sales improve you clear debt and then when the business is in the green you start spending on important projects eg the new office complex or vehicles out of your profit in a sustainable way. Your capital is intact and growing as a it is only part of your profit you spend.
Nigerians do not understand this even the common man, all they want to see is bridge, road etc and so the politician that has never ran any business before enters and sees those roads as a means to making billions of money from kickback.
Obi spent on the necessities as the state was in debt, he cleared the debt and put the state in green ofcourse his tenure expired and a new man came and saw the savings from profits which he should have spent on projects in a sustainable way eg you meet 100b in the bank, you spend 50b on projects, then save again until the money gets to 100b before spending another 50b. But no, the usual naija politician will see the 100b in the bank and issue contracts for 200b, half of the money will be for "awon boys", at the end of the day, the state is in debt.
Same goes for the coastal road and other elephant projects. With how the economy was met by this administration, all new projects should have been suspended until the economy stabilises, after that projects could have been done gradually in a sustainable way. Imagine spending and even borrowing billions of dollars to pump in that coastal road in shaky economy, yet you wonder why naira keep depreciating.

Untill we pocket our tribalism and support al neutral person like sowore for presidency before Nigeria can truly be great
God bless you brother. They said they wanted a ‘youth’ but guess who they presented to us to vote for? A 66- years old con-man from Anambra, who ruled the State for 8 years with nothing tangible to show for it. They were here in 2012, cursing him and even created series of threads discussing his failure here on this same forum but today, we are made to believe that anyone who doesn’t support him is an enemy of humanity.
If the igbos are being sincere and it’s not because Obi is their kinsman, why is nobody even talking about Sowore? Dude checks all the boxes; he’s never held any office in the past, no corruption cases on his neck, dude has been beaten countless times by security operatives while fighting for our cause but no, they don’t want him because he’s not an ibo man and they aren’t even being tribalistic, it’s the people countering their deceits that are the tribalists and bigots😂

Get the message and spare the messager short comings.
* The procurement process of this project was shrouded in secrecy.
* No advert was placed as required by the procurement act
* No competitive bidding as required by law
* All major construction companies with track record of performance were sidelined
* Awarded to a company once send packing out of Nigeria due to allege crimes
* The project was overpriced
* The project is not a priority road compared to the dilapidated Federal roads connecting the states.
etc
etc

Re: Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project Is A Scam — Babachir Lawal by ivandragon:
The coastal highway is very questionable given the secrecy, timing and actors around the award of the contract.

For a road estimated to cost N15trn, it means the road costs over N20bn per kilometre for 700km... there should have been more transparency in its award.

Let's assume the road has 15 bridges equivalent in length to the 2nd Niger Bridge, at N400bn per 1.5km Bridge, that would amount to N6trn for 22.5km out of about 700km... leaving N9trn for about 677.5km.

So, that is about N13.2bn per kilometre for 677.5km... seems excessive...

How can we all grab this power and give it to someone like Sowore for 4 years, we are in a mexx..... Bringing these corrupted politicians to book is the way out
@seunlayi

This is the second time you are posting this your support for Omoyele Sowore (who self-identified himself in a video I saw late last year as an Ijaw) on this thread page. Omoyele Sowere is NOT a credible option because he is far worse than those he criticizes.

He constantly uses his Sahara Reporters online platform to spread toxic disinformation and unverified news reports which he has done multiple times this year alone.

This is NOT the Omoyele we used to know back when he was the Student Union President of Unilag and a pro-democracy activist. His Sahara Reporters was a credible sources of investigative reports back from the 2000s but from 2019, I started noticing scewed repotage in SR and he started making outlandish comments. I initially thought it had to do with the pain from the loss of his younger brother who was kidnapped in Edo State and that he needed therapy.

For those of us who are VERY discerning of international geopolitical events, Omoyele has lost the vibe and is NOT a credible Presidential material for folks living in Nigeria. He has to even start from the local political echelons such as a Sate House of Reps member before transitioning to Federal House of Reps member or a Senator, etc, before he can be taken seriously for a Presidential role. He's ONLY made matters worse for his image with the lies and disinformation his news outlet gives out just the same way the very notorious People's Gazette does with fabricated news reports and headlines that have NO bearing with the body of some of their articles.

If this is how the Bendel State (now Edo State-born) iconic investigative journalist 'Dele Giwa and co-founder of Newswatch Magazine practiced journalism back in the 1980s before he lost his life from that horrendous parcel bomb explosion at his off Allen Avenue residence in 1986, we would NEVER have had a benchmark or standards for investigative journalism reportage from Nigeria. This is why I NEVER missed reading the Newswatch Magazine and 'Dele Giwa's columns when he was alive.

I
A project that has no immediate impact on the citizens
I disagree, people are already working on it at various levels, unless they are doing so for free, that's an effect on employment.

There is also a service economy supporting those people, food, drink, accommodation, transportation.

When it is finished, those areas they it passed through would be totally regenerated with a permanent service economy comprising things like restaurants to name but one.

A wonderful project.
