What does psychological abuse mean in this context.

You don't want to be told what is right and what is wrong.
/

You already know what is wrong and what is right. Haven't you heard of the 10 Commandments and what Christ said about love? The one on the pulpit is not interested in your salvation. He is only interested in retaining you as a paying customer.

Ohh okay. Yes Nigerian church's are notorious for demanding tithes. But it seems the pastors have realized that it is not obligatory. Or at least they want to pretend they have realized.

I realized its necessary to go to Churchs physically, though many do not have the zeal or strength like myself. We may try to make excuses or come up with our interpretations, but just as it is written in the book that we should not forsake the assembly.

If we do not attend at least give God all the glory at home and appreciate God, and draw near to the creator. Let us hold tightly to the faith.

Back in the days, not attending church for just 1 sunday in a month makes one feel so guilty and incomplete but nowadays, one can stay months without attending church or any church program.
It is even getting more worst as one gets more learned and exposed.
Can I maintain my relationship with God without attending church on Sundays?
Could this affect my faith?if yes, how can I rekindle my zeal for attending church on Sundays?
join a service unit in your church, like me now I teach kids and if I don't go, I'll be having this feeling that nobody will set up the TV for them or teach them.... I'm d only male in dat department.... So join a service unit...

It's about the energy in the church not about the pastor or politics, the energy is beneficial, once the people there have positive aspirations and mindset, a church has benefit. A word is enough...

“not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

Note that you didn't lose zeal for going to church, rather you're actually losing zeal in believing fairytale, therefore you're becoming wiser.

Just check the other thread, someone has posted that God puts rainbow in the sky and he/she quoted a Bible passage to support it. But a God has nothing to do with the formation of rainbow, rather rainbow form as a result of reflection and refraction of water in the sky. But the people who wrote the Bible didn't know!

And the wiser you become, you'll quit going to church all together.

This story has already been perfectly explained allegorically in the book of Genesis with Adam and Eve becoming wise and leaving the garden (kindergarten) as a result. That's what the real God wants everyone to do. Unfortunately, the story has also been damaged by those who needed religion to control society

That first part was a religious activity, there was no relationship with Christ that's why you're now comfortable with staying away.

your relationship with God has nothing to do with church.
John 3:16 says whosoever believes in him, not whosoever go to church.
first of all, you have to understand what your faith is.
Your faith is believing in Christ for your salvation. Is that synonymous to church going?
No!
if you truly want to attend church, make friends with people in church who they either benefit from you or you benefitting from them.
You must have a target of a tangible thing you want to achieve in church.
Whether you want to enjoy the relationship with the people or you may need some financial help which will require them seeing you coming to church all the time.
STOP MISLEADING THE PEOPLE!
•IS IT NOT WRITTEN IN THE SCRIPTURE (Bible) YOU CARRIED - 'DON'T FORSAKE THE ASSEMBLY OF THE BRETHREN '
SO,WHY ARE SOME OF YOU SAYING ' BUILD YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD' AND HOW DO INDIVIDUALS - WHO DON'T HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SCRIPTURE BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH GOD- 1•BY KNOWING / Seeking The Face Of GOD AND ACCEPTING CHRIST AS LORD AND SAVIOUR
2- AND BY BEING BORN AGAIN And
3- REPENTANCE FROM SIN- And Forsaking the SIN-For you CANNOT do ALL the above by yourself Alone - without going to Church and feed with the Word Of God on Timely Basis (Heb6v12).
Heb(10v31)-For it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God.

Are you implying that those who go to church always have the holy spirit with them, but those who don't go can't have?
not really but the fruit that you are a real child of God is when you make effort to be in church. Mainly waking up in the morning, dressing and going to church is an act of faith.

Last year Lost a Job interview because i was a Christian but not a temple Member of the organization church... I told them i was ready to be a member for the sake of the Job .. the HR on the panelist said NO! i should first identify with the Temple...

The name of the Organization is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints"

Too many different doctrines in Christianity... But Moslems are so consistent with there beliefs...
That church na low key Jehovah witness. They are a cult even all churches are cult. The freemasons built the church you can google the masonic anthem and mission you will understand better but be careful it might mess you up. Built the churches to balance the ecosystem. You create a problem and create a solution that later leads to another problem. Churches when it started had good intentions but life as we know. Satan entered the ministry

Since it gives you concerns, you know it's not good for you missing church services.

From my experience, as a regular church attendance absentee, it's not good for you emotionally, socially and most importantly, spiritually.

Start going. Just do it.

Ask a trusted and committed member to come pick you up each time it's church time, if you can't achieve this on your own.

Don't believe the lie of a lone ranger Christian. It's a ploy from the master evil strategist- the devil.

You dont have to put the attention on the church If there is any sin or disobedience on your path please deal with them . Your body is the temple where God lives and not in any building or denomination .
Secondly , don't condem yourself

Righteousness89:
Your Personal Relationship with GOD Is More Important than Going to Church..

But let's be Sincere, Very Many of us do not Have that Grace to be go on in this Race without Steady fellowship with the Brethren .

Except you are in a location where or in a condition were it's not possible.
We must learn to bring balance. There's no where it is stated in the scripture that your personal relationship is more important than going to church, it's an error that sounds true but it's not. The scripture emphatically stated not forsaking the assembly together of brethren in the book of Hebrews, bible categorically stated that believers fellowship together after Jesus ascended and we're also together when pentecost came, in the same book of acts, it always talked about believers together in fellowship, breaking bread and all that even when peter and co were released from prison, the scripture said they went to their own company, Christ is coming for the bride His church, not for an individual, but you must live holy and Christ worthy as a person. That's where you people now coe with the above statement. But a believer can not exist In isolation

To some extent you are truth to yourself,It is Satan devices to lure us away from God our source,an adage says the river that forget it's source will dry, Jesus also said in John 15:1-8 that without Him we can do nothing, please comeback to God like the prodigal son in Luke 15;11-32,read this and contact me for more steps, God bless you

Don't force it but stay prayerful. In shoes similar to yours but I have started having this urge to go to church since the beginning of the year, which I have started doing on and off. Today and last week, I was overwhelmed emotionally during the breaking of the bread, the eucharist, and felt my own tears (I am as rugged as they come) thinking of my beautiful childhood in the church.

Do not rush yourself, we are spiritual beings but manipulators in the name of God are the ones forcing us into their own schedule. God is love, He will find you on His own schedule.

The bible enjoins us not to forsake the assembly of one another. Coldness towards attending church is a sign of subtle backsliding.

One becomes an easy prey for sin and satan.

You really have to strengthen you will power to continue as a part of a living church
Re: I Have Lost My Zeal For Attending Church by EvangelistChuks(m): 4:53pm On Jul 13, 2025
The answer is that either you were not born again,or that you have backslided or that you are but you lack organic love for Jesus.
Imagine a man that genuinely loves his fiancée and rarely wants to visit her;that's how it is with going to church.
Fellowship with God is motivated by 2 things;1-challenges/problems & 2-organic love for Jesus.
Out of this two, strive for organic love so that in season or out of season you will NEVER have apathy for fellowship with brethren.
