Rest in peace sai baba
Great Patriotic Leader who lived an upright life. He was contented, disciplined and humble. Extremely dedicated to Nigeria.
But for his upright life and patriotism, PI& D may have ripped us off of billions of dollars.

No matter how much I oppose the APC today, I was a Buharist until 6 months or so after he was elected President. I realized I was wrong, he didn’t have it in him, GEJ was the best choice to continue.

I created this account to support his Presidential ambition, but ended up parting ways and being very opposed to his presidency.

I wasn’t a fan of GEJ but he was the best choice to be president over Buhari, and Peter Obi today is the best choice to be President so I remain Obidient
If GEJ continued in office, by now we all would be blaming him for wrecking the economy.

OIl prices were falling by April 2014 from over 100 dollars per barrel to 75 by May 29 2015. Anyone who was around from 1970-90 would recognize the signs. (Adiche alludes to it in her work of fiction...Americanah). The oil price drop meant that anyone who was winning in 2015 was going to face hard times. Northing like 'I am the best'...revenues were going to drop.

The tragedy with Buhari was that he did not do what should be done...cut government spending...including removing subsides, improving tax revenue, and cutting size of government totally. Instead he borrowed...of course he had to borrow, especially when we needed oil at least at 120-130 per barrel before we could have enough revenue to pay for budget...but he also borrowed to maintain high government spending. And then there was printing of money as well.

BY August 2022...the end of the line had come. That's why subsidy on petrol and forex had to go under Tinubu. Though tinubu still continues the same old borrow and borrow...because to take hard decisions is not in their blood.

Modified

in 1973, oil prices went sky high. Those were the days when the upper and middle classes in nigeria lived large, and life was good, when foreign products were easily available in nigeria at very cheap prices. Then in 1982, the prices of oil collapsed.....and until 2006, times were tough, very much so.

I had a dream few days ago when someone shouted that Buhari died, I rushed to Nairaland to check if such thing happened and also ask my partner if he said such word maybe it was from him. He said no.
Now I can see that Buhari left the world, rest in peace General Mohammed Buhari: you have done your part.
Re: A Tribute To A Fallen Leader by Danelo(m): 6:09pm On Jul 13, 2025
Can these people really rest in peace after all they have done?
Re: A Tribute To A Fallen Leader by emkz: 6:10pm On Jul 13, 2025
Many will write epistles to vilify Buhari.

Many will sing songs of lamentation that Buhari was the cause of their problems.

Many will think Buhari's passing will benefit them.

Those who think they have things to say, Buhari has completed his own tenure in life. His works are the testament of his own journey.

He has flipped his final page and those who wish to know him can do so by digging the bowels of history.

For those saying things, your own time will come to a close as well. And your own story will be told. You can't escape it.

May the Almighty grant Muhammadu Buhari forgiveness of his shortcomings. May his family receive strength to process this huge loss.

I thought he was horrible until Tinubu entered then I realized he was a saint. He should have left a legacy by sparing Nigeria of this trauma - Tinubu. Now we have to endure till 2031.

RIP to him

So no hospital that could treat him in Nigeria?

Thank you Sai Baba for your great sacrifice for our darling country.
Which sacrifice? International media will carry the news, " former Nigerian president dies in a London clinic". I guess that will bring honor to Nigeria? Since he couldn't build a single hospital during his 8 years reign that could look after him and his cronies. What a shame.

Life is truly fickle, no body, I repeat, no body will leave this world alive.

We will all give account to our creator.

RIP.
Can anybody give accounts and pass?! Absolutely not except the MERCY OF THE CREATOR. All we can do is our best but our best is never enough under the judgement of the MOST HIGH except He is MERCIFUL. May He be MERCIFUL to you and I and all of His creation.

He's dead, wasn't perfect, disappointed me in some ways, performed excellently well in other ways.

As bad as some of his negative actions were, we still miss him if compared to what we have now.

A Buhari government didn't start with agony like we have it now and we pray this current president won't continue punishing the people with agony since he started.

RIP to a gallant soldier. 82yrs no be beans.

As for those cursing leaders with death, he died at a ripe age.

Remember one thing, no one is leaving this earth alive.

Worry about your own demise, will you get to his age or fulfill 10% of his lifetime achievements?

Alas he died in London and not Niger republic.
Thought he promised to rest in Niger should Nigeria disturbs him. When they are done destroying Nigeria they will quick go die in another man's land.

Rest in peace The General, you live a worthy life to emulate. I pray to have someone like you as a leader very soon. At least you built two out of our four refineries and still gave Second Niger Bridge to your enimiiiiiy.

SUN RE OOO.
Re: A Tribute To A Fallen Leader by Ekpeitut: 6:15pm On Jul 13, 2025
I feel indifferent. It’s unfortunate that in his eight years as president, he didn’t prioritize building a world-class hospital as a lasting legacy for himself and for Nigerians. Instead, he chose to spend public funds on treatment abroad. Nonetheless, may he rest in peace.

Good luck for president. If PDP get Sense they should do this now
We don't need GEJ back
Nigeria is a country if more than 200 million, it's like they've registered "ruling class" in some of you people's head.
Why should someone like GEJ be given a chance again?

His rules was not bad, you don't buy fuel 1000/per litre, he never bullying opposition party to join his party, he allow level play ground for all. Dollar was subsidy not to let the price of basic amenities go up. He never declare state of emergency to Rob an elected governor

GEJ created new sectors of the economy. It was during his time that social media and content economy was created. I remember how FG was funding and promoting local content creators. Okonjo Iweala and Olusegun Aganga and others were doing great at innovation and bringing new investments into various sectors.

Buhari’s Presidency slowed down the economy very badly with his tight financial policies and lack of innovation. Tinubu completely destroyed what was remaining.

When you see a spade, call it a spade. I can hold my head high and say I am supporting good governance not nepotism or tribalism. What about you?

What sacrifice is that?

Does the sacrifice include spending the nations scarce resources on his medical treatment in the UK?

"In his final days, weakened by time and circumstance, he made a choice that will haunt generations. He handed over the soul of our nation to a tyrant one who rules not with love or law, but with fear and fire. Since then, we have watched our people drown in silence, our freedoms strangled, our dignity auctioned to the highest bidder."
