Man narrates how he shouted at a teenager for seemingly disrespecting her mum at the mall.

I was getting something at a mall just now. This girl, in her late teens or early twenties, came to get a birthday cake with her mum. When the cake was packed, the mum asked if she would carry it and she told the mum to carry it. Immediately the mum carried the cake, I didn't know when I shouted "Ah ah! Carry something jọ̀ọ́" at her. Almost like a soldier taking order from a superior officer, she quickly collected the cake from her mum. All these happened within 3 to 5 seconds.

She had collected the cake before I started thinking to myself "What's wrong with you? You don't even know this girl or her mother from anywhere. What if they both turn on you and give you the dragging of your life?"

I guess some things are hard wired into us and it will take conscious effort not to act them out. I'll be very conscious and deliberate about minding my business next time.

I couldn't have imagined my late mom of blessed memory being told by any of her kid without hell being let lose . Even the manager of that mall would be called out to quench the fire

The parents are the one over indulging the so called Genz.
It's unfortunate the the things you are wired to know by default are not being upheld by this generation.
From simple courtesy of greeting an elder, always relieving elderly of loads,not sitting down while talking to elder,or standing up for them to sit first.

What about the terrible parents of the past who raised the terrible children of the past who have now become mothers? Are they not [b]the elders of today[/b]whose grandchildren have no real regard or respect for?

It is easy to blame the current generation while conveniently ignoring the fact that the problem started long ago with those you consider your elders, the ones who failed to stand up for their rights as individuals and those of their children. Respect is best when earned, not demanded.

Yes the parents carry a lot of d blame as they dont instill the values they have into the children all in the name of wokeness. U see parents actually going to fight their children's teachers for simple discipline of the children... how do u expect those children to respect adults and u the parents later on and also be open to correction? Parents must know discipline is part of love for u apply the painful pruning tools on the flowers u want to look beautiful!!

am not bothered I might not be on earth when they eventually become leaders. I so such detest them am sorry is shouldn't be saying this but that generation is so annoying. I am a teacher please before you all come for me. Several times I have called to state why I disciplined a child who refuses to yield to teacher' command and values. Parents these days don't have time for their kids. These kids don't even greet. They think because they are big they can relating with you like age mates. Some of their so called Gen Z girls because of the big breast and nyash they carry at age 12-17 they think you should be toasting them. Rubbish. Not all.of them are bad I have made a few decent and conscious ones.

That is what happens when you want to be besties with your children, instead of raising them.
New generation parents want to be seen as cool by their children.

This samething bad upbringing makes me hate one of my oga's daughter she Always shouting on her parents and disrespect them and I tried to call the attention of both parents they both just laugh it off as if what she was s doing to them is normal, When she was admitted into university she came to me begging for some money but I declined because till today that her bad attitude always ringing iny head.

The question this girl was asking me,one would think she is the interviewer

What real values did these morals have for those who supposedly had them? Did it build for them a great society or country? Why teach these so-called morals, which most don't even agree on? Why not simply teach them to respect the rights of individuals and the legal codes?

2. For starters, all humans — babies, children, and people of all ages —deserve equal respect simply for being. But this is missing in the Nigerian situation. Any additional respect to be earned would be available through work or effort in areas where such opportunities are available.
