There’s a life line. The fact that he still hide it from you is still a good thing. Atleast he knows what he’s doing is bad and already he’s trying to hide it. Draw him closer.
Try these things:
1. Get him a job:
Yes, he’s a smoker and a drunkard. Don’t worry, responsible job will make him better.
I recommend uniform job. I know may that are currently the breadwinners aim their family and are still smoking/taking drugs.
2. Get him Married to the love of his life.
This should come after job.

I beg u in the name of God ensure that he doesn't get married until he stops completely. DONT RUIN ANOTHER WOMAN'S LIFE

Note : self awareness is different from staying woke and reasoning mindless things.

Only rock button can cause self awareness effect

I mean they have a high level of self awareness when they're not high. You can hold a reasonable conversation with you when not high. But once they get high, the awareness is over, until they become sober again.

Just get him to a rehabilitation centre either a private establishment or that of the NDLEA ,that would be a good starting point, I've seen ppl get transformed after that experience

Leave him to walk his path, if he succeeds then you praise the Lord and if he perishes then he'll serve as example to the generation coming behind him.
If the mother has washed her hand off her own son then who art thou to keep worrying yourself on someone who doesn't worry about himself.

ICE is hell.

My neighbor got introduced to ICE by a coded dealer who moved into the neighborhood then, a very nice Bangladeshi who was always wanting me to share his meals and smoothies.

Few weeks later, I heard commotion in the night only to come out to see this guy stark unclad, when I asked him wtf was going on, he mistook the cellophane waste bag he was holding for a trouser and was trying to fit his leg in.

At a point, he tried to jump feom the 6th floor through the kitchen windows. I had to physically restrain him and used his bedsheets to tie his legs and arms before calling the caretaker and police.

Why am I regaling you with this story? Stay off drugs. Don't allow anyone ask you to try a little and see how it feels..you'll be hooked for live. STAY DRUG FREE

What you can do is prayer, do praying and fasting for him, but to tell me that you can talk him out of it, Na big lie.

No one can talk a smoker out of that habit than the smoker itself. The best you can do is continue telling the person the health hazard, maybe someday, the person can have a rethink and change.

But this your cousin gat many addiction to change from.

Only one person Mkpurumiri(ice), colos, loud, marijuana, ciga...nawa oo.

Me dey stick to my Canadian loud, any day I wan change I go change. Thank God I'm not addicted to it cos I can go days without taking it.

Addiction is 2nd nature, very hard to quit, very very hard, mine is sports betting but I have decided to quit although I have tried many times but failed, am a married man with kids but I sold my plasma tv for 50k use the money to play bet9ja and still lost the money, each time my kids put music on home theatre and look on the wall for the pictures I cry in my heart....u see I was thinking that gambling will make me win millions and give my family a better life but hell no it destroyed me more, am in so much debt now, whenever my phone rings fear catches me.....my brother u see bad addiction is very evil

Addiction is terrible... As of betting, it requires discipline. I play Sportybet and I made 20k daily, that's my target. I don't play footballs, only casino and twice per day.

Gambling will destroy you if you're not disciplined and know when to quit.

If he's taking Colos he is lost already, he needs to get to a rehabilitation center, because his body is already use to the drugs and he is taking drugs to hide a pain that is always there and won't go away . Advice him to calm down, life is in stages . Everyone's finishing line is not the same even if we started the same time.

Convince him to visit MFM Prayer City in Lagos. They have a very effective and free drug rehabilitation centre there that have helped a lot of drug addicts to overcome their addiction.

You will be glad you did.

Only rehab.. coz of drugs, my only brother is running mad.. it months now I didn't even know where he is. Someone that was very brilliant and intelligent. He will have came back with first class from university of Uyo.. but he got himself into drugs..

He has to acknowledge the harm he's doing to himself first and have a strong desire to quit before any help can work.

Some addicts can't quit on their own because of the pains associated with withdrawal effects and that fear of withdrawal symptoms also help to fuel the addiction. So, I'll suggest you call him to a meeting if you want to help and discuss the matter with him. Highlight the dangers and consequences of using those stuff to him. Make him understand that he's cutting short his life and that his death is very near if he fails to stop.

Once you have established that he has a genuine desire to quit, then you can go ahead and contact the nearest NDLEA office to help him with rehab and management of the withdrawal symptoms.

Addicts only change when they have had near-death encounters or when they have genuine desire to change.

It sadden my heart reading this... I was once an addict of many drugs u can imagine including heroin all I can say my sister is redemption won't be easy for ur cousin. It takes only God's grace and self determination from him. But I suggest you get in touch wit pastor Tony Rapu, u can Google search about him. Maybe with God mercies he might be saved. I have been free from hard drugs for 7 years and counting although I still smoke weed presently and nothing else as substitute for hard drugs which was adviced by a professional.
Anyways try Tony Rapu foundation on hard drugs he might be of help. Take care!

It is not about giving up on them but them wanting to truly redirect their lives. I have worked in rehab units of psychiatric facilities and first hand observed the revolving doors of chronic relapse, majorly by those who were forced into it.

The key point is, they need to buy in, for that rehab to mean something to them.
