Car now fixed, but we only fixed the body never knew the steering rack was affected and its mounting bracket cracked, so we got another one tht gave head ache as the security came on and steering column lock got activated and had to be opened by SDD(Thanks lejun1) for you guidance over the phone) Power steering was gone but now resolved by jacking both front wheel up and steering from end to end to get rid of air pockets, in all t RRS roars again

New Preventative service to be ddone in thisour motor 1, Change of transmission fluid. 2 Change of transmission sump with filter 3 change of power steering pump and fluid 4 New fan belt 5 change of Heat exchanger of gear box fluid as it got toasted somehow and there is water inside the gear box 3 Likes |

erico2k2: Save yourself some headaches 😩, replace that transmission. So it doesn't give way midstream. Replace Heat exchanger with an original unit 1 Like |

LeJeun3:Change the whole transmission will cost more than N3m boss. My car has 58k .miles. Don't you think I should try this 1st? Money wise I got the service part for £400 from Landrover including heat exchanger and ZF oil and sump pan with filter plus magnet..I'm just awaiting a helping hand d to come or look for a place with a flush. So far shift is OK. What do U think? |

erico2k2: Transmission doesn't cost up to 3M tho. Don't flush that transmission rather do a drain and refill several times. Replace Heat exchanger, drain oil, refill with something cheaper say Detron III from NNPC or Mobil, repeat till fluid changes colour, remember to drive and select gears, do not speed. 1 Like |

LeJeun3:thanks for the heads up chief,well according to the cost over in the Uk, it will cost as much if not more for a new box, cos its moving parts, wont like to buy used ones cos of wear and tear. I have changed the Power steering pump. what a nightmare to install. I am changing the sump on the gear box,I have taken the under tray off and now faced with two sub frames, Im going to tacle that in the morning The heat xchanger will be done in the morning as well. I got the ZF fluid 7 ltre in all as a kit, when you say drain and refil with cheap stuff is that to get rid of old slugish fluid then refill with the real thing? As per shifting gears or was thinking I could do that with the pedals if I turn to the semi side of the gear ? that way I can do it in one place without moving the car? Smthing is wrong the NL I can seem to post or upload fotos |

Great all done car is moving smoonthly, Gear shifting, but Im still running with that cheap gear oil, 2nd group of using it, I done first cheap oil, ran the Engine drained it straight away, still creamy, so put 2nd group, driving around, will drain Saturday morning and see where we at. 1 Like |

sooperrescue:Howmuch do you call a token  MyB you are confusing this with a Toyota as per how water gets inside, well, that Gear box of these 8 speed has a heat exchanger for a cooler, with water from radiator running fru, once the fins in these get toasted, water mixes with the gear box fluids.This forms a tick creamy mixture like spoilt milk, the filter in these Gearbox are in built with the bottom plate, so you got to buy the whole bottom plate as you really cannot clean it.The you got to fight with the subframe to get it out and in.This Job takes the whole day!I must have recycled the gear oil with cheaper o ne from NNPC for at least 4 Gallons of 5 ltrs B4 I could refill with the original Oil I bought from Land Rover UK.Then re program the Gear box cos it has gone to limp mode. Do you still think this is easy? |

erico2k2:No, it's not easy because you don't do it all the time. The last one we did, we changed the cooler of the gear, the gear filter and used 2 set of atf like you did and cleaned the water can and entered the road from Abeokuta to Lagos at full speed. It took us 6 hours. The man begged us to come to Abeokuta instead of trucking it to lagos. That's the reason why we would have done it for you for a token |

Well my own has the filter attached to the sump of the gear box,I used up to 5 galloons of ATF and changed the Heat exchanger AkA coolr for a brand new one. 1 Like |

sooperrescue:Well yeah but I figure I will still need to go one more round of flusing ANy ways on the Ups side, I might need to buy a new chasis, ie just the whole body 2011 up, cos my chasis bent from that bloody accident with the container truck, do you know of anybody who has a dead RRS 2012 |

LeJeun3:Baba you too keep an ear to the ground, I'm having too much problems with the chassis and some other stuff after that accident, so I need another complete body. So a dead 201 or 2012 would do me. Will just transfer. Diesel Engine preferable. |

OK Nigeria has happened to my car now all the wheels get damages on that silly East west road, one Rim completly damage, the others wangling so I am changing all 4, so 4 new 22 inch Rims and Tyres 1 Like |
