Good day fellow Xiaomites,

I'm currently using Umidigi A9 Pro, a phone I've had for over four years, and I'm eager to upgrade to a new device. I'm looking to join the Xiaomi community and am researching which Xiaomi phone best fits my budget of ₦220,000 - ₦250,000.

My attention has been drawn to the Redmi Note series, particularly the Redmi Note 14 4G. However, after extensively reviewing this thread (more than 20 pages of posts, posts of since January 2025), I've come across some negative reviews for the RN14, which has made me hesitant as I want to avoid any regrets.

I initially considered the Samsung Galaxy A16 4G variant, but a friend advised against it. I also watched several YouTube comparisons between the A16 and RN14, where the RN14 consistently outperformed the A16. I noted that the RN14 4G was ranked 109th in the AnTuTu performance ranking, which seems decent. The promise of four years of major Android updates and six years of security updates for the Redmi Note 14 4G is also a significant draw for me.

I'm not very familiar with the Poco series, as no one in my area currently uses one. In my region, Xiaomi series, which is flagship brand, is out of my budget.

Given my budget and current considerations, am I making a good choice with the Redmi Note 14 4G, or can you recommend any other Xiaomi device within this price range? Just performance and battery is what I needed as I am currently using a cheap p-mtk device. Your insights are greatly appreciated!

Thank You 😊🙏.

For me get the Redmi Note 14. There are way more people using the device without issues than those using with issues. The Redmi Note 13 is another option. I would have said Redmi Note 14 5G or Poco M7 pro 5G but that is 100k above your budget.

Goodday Everyone

Please what are the disadvantages of getting a Chinese variant of Xiaomi phones compared to the Global version? I plan on getting the Xiaomi 11 pro but the phone doesn't have a global version variant

Please I need expert advice

Thank You 😊🙏 My Boss, I will just get the RN14, if I get more money after some months, I will sell it and get the Poco series since you highly recommend that. Thanks. Really appreciate 😊

I SMH when people talk down on MTK Dimensity. The ignorance level is extraordinary.

Apple's best IOS barely made top 10 but two MTK Dimensity made top 5.

When we talk about Poco X pro series, F series and Mi series, we know what we're talking about.
Those days are gone. They are all good chips. However, I think we are still not able to flash stuffs on MTK chips like that of SNPDRGNs.

Personally, I've flashed and rooted MTK device. All I needed was to watch some YouTube vids and follow the steps.

In these times I will advise you to stick with Global versions. And also why are you buying a device that is out of support?

Show the Geekbench comparison
Of course Snapdragon 8 Elite does better with geek bench cos geek bench only calculates CPU and GPu performances while antutu does an overall assessment. Geekbench is better when comparing between Android and other OS e.g iOS, mac, windows. Both aren't far apart. They are on par with slight differences here and there. I think someone uploaded the geekbench scores

I presently use the Redmi Note 14, and I can confirm it's a good device. I currently do not have any issues with it. I recommend.

The Xiaomi 11 pro looking at the specs and the price it's going for I prefer it to a lot of recent mid rangers... So update and support isn't really important am looking at the downside of getting a Chinese variant here in Nigeria

Network bands is usually the downside but I can't recall that of 11 Pro so do your research.

My brother, forget about update, it's not the thing that'll piss you off about china version. In fact, if you use china ROM on a Xiaomi device you'll love it at first cos of some UI differences and some sweet features. But when you're getting comfortable setting up your phone, you'll realise say nothing sweet pass Google services.

China versions lack Google services support, so if you paid for an app on playstore and want to use it on your china version, you can't. Even simple email, to login fit be wahala. Some important parts of the UI are in Chinese language, many small things we overlook everyday go turn issue on the china version.

Some say recent Xiaomi phones have a way to side load the Google services, but I don't know if it will be as good as the global version support.

You have said it all. My dad started that way too with his RN7 in 2019 and he got fed up after a while and I had to flash the global ROM

Kindly note that MTK is now on par with snapdragon. Not only can you use gcam, you can unlock bootloader, flash roms and root on MTK devices.
