Awujale Left A Precious Legacy, Placed Ijebu On World Map - Ibori by nairavsdollars(op): 7:13pm On Jul 14, 2025
Former Delta state governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori on Sunday commiserated with the family, friends, associates, subjects and the government and people of Ogun State over the transition of the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona saying the nation and most especially the Yoruba race has lost a rare gem and highly respected monarch.

Tne first class monarch joined his ancestors on Sunday, at the age of 91 few hours after the announcement of the death of his longtime friend and former President, Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement he personally signed, Ibori said the late Awujale was a man of peace who, during his lifetime, did everything humanly possible to promote the Yoruba tradition across the globe.

Ibori who said the highly respected monarch will be sorely missed for his fatherly role and advice, added that tne Awujale offered him wise counsels and words of encouragement during his travails.

"On behalf of my family, I wish to express our sincere condolences on the passing away of one of our illustrious traditional rulers, Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Ogbagba Agbatewole. He would sorely be missed by all”

" His leadership role in fostering peace among his subjects, promoting Yoruba culture and tradition and placing his town, Ijebu on the world map will forever be remembered. He lived and left a precious heritage worthy of emulation".

"I pray that Almighty God finds a peaceful resting place for the soul of the late Awujale and grant the royal family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss".

There's what is called redeeming ones image. If you join the right cause, you can redeem your image to a certain extent. If James Ibori joins the people of Nigeria to seek for good governance, his sins could be overlooked to certain extent. Understood?
