Joyful365:Will it any way affect treasurybill investors? If my investment get matured and capital returned to my account, the FIRS should see the source of the inflows and shouldn't tax me. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Joyful365: 7:30pm On Jul 12, 2025 |
Foodempire:From what I've read it looks like tax will apply on the interest payment. |

kristien4:Tbills Rate movement is normal It's a possibility. It has happened before, and then the rate was as low as 5%. It's not actually a new thing that the rate is going down. It's a normal movement. So let's be prepared. The TBills rate is determined by the economic situation of the country in terms of borrowing status of the government. Whatever rate the CBN comes up with through the decision at the MPC meetings determines the rate of Tbills. The lower the MPR, the lower the rate of Tbills and vice versa. For those of us who could take a little more risk, you can look at the way of fundamentally sound and dividend-paying stocks, with that, you are sure your money will still be working for you. However, stocks are better enjoyed when you have a long-term view, unlike Tbills which is a short-term instrument. |

emmasoft:for the 364days, what rate would you advice an individual to bid at the next auction, considering the current statistics? |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Peterpan222(m): 1:29pm On Jul 14, 2025 |
emmasoft:Baba how far na? Are you into stocks as well? Omoh, e be like Naija stocks are doing well. I'm thinking of gradually shifting focus from TBills to Stocks. My aim remains to keep earning my Monthly expenditure from passive income without touching my salary. Anything short of 20% for Money market now eh, I go start the dig into my Alawi. Baba help Ur boi na..Carry me along na senior man😅. Besides, looks like other MMF seem to be doing better now |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmasoft(m): 1:49pm On Jul 14, 2025 |
kristien4:It's always safer and advisable to go with the bank rate at this time. At a time like this, with a downward trend in rates, even the bank is not very sure, but still better than trying to bid individually. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmasoft(m): 1:50pm On Jul 14, 2025 |
Peterpan222:Of course, we dey any anything that is legit. You know how to reach me, just do the needful. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Odunharry(m): 5:06pm On Jul 14, 2025 |
kristien4:It's current the stop rate for last auction might still be retained or prolly improved on slightly. One determinant also is the result of the MPC if they decide to retain MPR at 27.5 or reduce further. You can look into Commercial paper(companies with good ratings and well known), you can look into stocks if you can take the risk or invest in fixed deposit with rate higher than what tbills is doing currently. In all, always diversify your investment.. Fixed income, stocks if you can, usd if you have etc |

| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by emmasoft(m): 8:35am On Jul 16, 2025 |
Emzedz:If you want to benefit from outrageous bank charges, buy their shares in that way, you collect your money back inform of dividend when they declare profit and in price appreciation of their share price; that is the only way because these banks are not ready to change no matter the policies put in place by the CBN. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by francisobiabo(m): 8:27pm On Jul 16, 2025 |
But boss, most of these big banks shares at the end of the day equals near zero. What is often made is next to nothing. What's really the way to go on safe investment with one's capital secured. emmasoft: |
