Senator Seriake Dickson Pays Condolence Visit Over Awujale’s Passing

Senator Seriake Dickson on Wednesday visited Ijebu-Ode to pay his respects following the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Ogbagba II, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.

Senator Dickson, a prince of the Fidipote Royal Family of Ijebuland and current representative of Bayelsa West Senatorial District, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the revered monarch, who joined his ancestors a few days ago.

Accompanied by High Chief Bimbo Okenla, the Kakanfo Awujale of Ijebuland, the Senator met with prominent figures of the royal establishment, including His Royal Highness Oba Tajudeen Kolawole Omotayo, the Olori Ebi (head) of the Fidipote Ruling House, and Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde K1, the Olori Omo Oba Akile Ijebu and Head of the Princes’ Council.

“I thanked them for the solidarity and support they showed Kabiyesi during his reign, and also for the dignity and unity they have displayed at his passing,” Senator Dickson said.

He was briefed on the ongoing funeral rites and traditional activities planned by the Ijebu Traditional Council in honour of the late monarch. He also visited the family residence to condole with the Olori and other members of the royal household.

“As a prince of the Fidipote Royal Family, it was important for me to be present and to share in this moment of mourning and remembrance. I hope to visit them again soon,” said Dickson, who is also a former Governor of Bayelsa State.

Oba Sikiru Adetona reigned for 65 years, making him one of Nigeria’s longest-serving and most respected traditional rulers. His death marks the end of a historic era in Ijebuland and in Nigeria’s traditional leadership landscape.

“May his soul continue to rest in peace. Amen,” Senator Dickson prayed.

He has never denied his ijebu roots,he has always made it unequivocally clear his mother is ijebu and we accept him and support him despite being in opposition....we were first and foremost humans before becoming APC or pdp or LP,we must never loose site of that...just incase you didn't know that's why we should always understand that politics is far deeper than what you see on the surface,we must learn to play it without too much emotions.

Exactly, we are first and foremost a human being before our parents introduced us to their religion which they also met not to talk about political party which can fade away anytime.

I agree to Seriake Dickson's own. In fact, I've read the past Awujale making reference to Dickson being part Ijebu.

But the current Emir of Kano is not half Ijebu. He is pure Fulani. His father apparently was the Emir of Kano (Ado Bayero) and his mother is the daughter of the Emir of Ilorin - Mallam Abdulkadir dan Shuaibu Bawa. However, I am aware he loves Ijebu people and respects them a lot.

Dickson's mom is Yoruba.

This is a know fact and she is from the royal family. That why Dickson is very arrogant.
