Nairalanders did I do wrong? This is a long post

How it happened.....

A customer contacted me on Friday for some sneakers and we concluded on the price after he chosed his preferred ones. Due to election on Saturday, i could not send it so we postpone it to Sunday. The dispatch rider that was supposed to bring it told me he will deliver it in the evening as he had other orders. Evening came, dispatch number wasn't going and customer called me that he is in the location I wrote for the dispatch to bring for him. Since the place was closer to me, I had to enter bus and go stand with him there while we await the dispatch rider.

Before I left, I explained to my lady friend that a customer is waiting for his order and the dispatch number is not going and I am going to meet the customer and wait with him. She said I should not go and that I don't know how to do business... She said since it has been given to dispatch, then I shud just stay and let the customer wait. Then I disagreed and told her that No, customer that wants to pay money is waiting and I, the seller cannot wait while customer is standing.. So I left to go stand with the customer while we wait for the dispatch.

Dispatch didn't call until after 9pm, then I was so furious because he promised evening. Then he said he will arrive to the agreed location by 10pm or 11pm... I was so mad but I had to apologize to the customer, he said no problem and we agreed to meet the next day.

So around 11pm, dispatch called and I went to collect it. The next day, the customer called that he is in the location and I went to meet him....He was glad that he got what he ordered exactly, it fitted him so well.. I was so happy too that he liked the two sneakers he bought. He paid and we left back to our places. On getting home, I explained how the business went and that I shared the dispatch fee with the buyer so as to appreciate him for patronizing me and for the time & stress.
Immediately she started saying "I don't know how to do business. Saying why would I bear dispatch fee with the seller. She said the seller is supposed to be responsible for the dispatch".

Then I told her that No, this customer saw a lot of people selling this thing but he contacted me... Since Friday, he never stopped chatting me, even when his packaged got delayed due to the dispatch rider, he never gave up on me. She kept saying that's not how to do business then I shut her up and told her that this is how I will do my business and she shud not interfere

Since then, she has been giving me attitude...

Nairalanders, what have I done wrong? Is it wrong to have empathy for my customer?

Beside, the customer came on nairaland to commend my service to him and he really appreciated my effort despite being the one buying óòo..

I am so proud of my service but this lady matter just make me feel sumaw but I don't plan to apologize as I did nothing wrong

I am so glad that I did well for the customer.... One thing about is that I have always had to employ empathy when dealing with customers.... I make sure I offer excellent customers service.....

I send to them what they ordered exactly because I believe that when you treat a customer well, you will get more recommendations.

True to his words Oga Yemi, Mr Denrele made sure that I got what I ordered for despite the rider not delivering on time from the Islands.
I am satisfied with what I got though I had to contend with my transport fare… way to go bro!
