OP don't blame the foreigners, we're the ones killing ourselves in this country. You see that NLC? It's one of the useless organizations in Nigeria, those in authority enrich themselves at the expense of the real hustlers.

I worked in an Indian company many years ago, guess what I discovered. Our salaries get slashed before they get to us, not by the Indians but by Nigerians who call themselves contractors....They don't do any work, they just sit in their air-conditioned offices everyday and gave us peanut at the end of the month.

If you carry out investigation and hear directly from the foreigners you'll be shocked the workers ain't getting their normal salaries......Some Nigerians there are the ones ripping them and NLC and EFCC won't do their job.
That NLC doesn't do its job doesn't make foreigners owned businesses blameless

It is very unfortunate that we don't have government that have interest in how the citizens are feeling and fairing.
Our labour unions are just not good enough for the betterment of workers in the private sector.

The situation with many workers in the private sector is as good as being in slavery.
For the situation to get better than we have now.
The government has to be proactive in terms of regulating the policy that will make certain things happen and some things not possible in the labour market in Nigeria.
God help us

All the foreign companies in Nigeria usually treat workers like slave, the ones that did it most is Chinese and India along with Lebanese companies are the worst, NLC&TUC need to look into workers affairs and stop being a puppet

From personal experience,Indians are not the problem.Nigerians are not good people. From government down to the people working in those Indian companies, they are wicked. You see your fellow Nigerian betraying you to an Indian all because he wants to prove stupid loyalty that he won’t be getting extra pay from. If you find yourself in that work environment, plan your exit. Nigerians can’t unite with one voice to fight for what will benefit everyone. Everybody is doing as if he is smart whereas na we mumu pass. The same way we cannot cooperate to fight for what we deserve in Nigeria is what is played out in those Indian companies. I no fit advice my worst enemy to work for Indian company.

U have said it all Baba. I remember PAPILON industries Ltd in Lagos then. They are now in Ogun State. Omo, I suffer for that plastic Company for almost 3 yrs between 1996 and 1999 before we staged a protest and everyone was laid off. Thank God I had already gained admission into College of Education. I decided to go school and become great in Life. Thank God for today.

I once worked in one at Agbara. The work pay is xoxo at least manageable but they had a habit of locking us in like animals during night shifts. It's a popular nylon making factory in the area.

Indians are saints when compared with the Chinese.

Most Chinese firms have no weekend, leave or public holiday.
Welfare is zero.

Some even do day shift of two straight weeks of 7am to 7pm followed by night shift of the same.

The funniest thing is that the Chinese are making a steady inroad into the country.

The have a cluster around Lagos -Ibadan express way and also operate a free trade zone comprising more than one hundred companies at Igbesa, Ota, Ogun State. Their labour practices should be investigated as a matter of urgency.

Even FG is borrowing money from them and going to them to finance our infrastructural projects. If the details of those deals are made public Nigerians will shout.

The Chinese are steadily colonizing Africa, not through force or war but economically.

And they have NO morality. The Chinese is more crooked and fraudulent than the average Nigerian.

That is why the federal government should make the economy to be good and better.... address and tackle inflation.. so that the costs of living can be low, prices of foodstuffs , good and services can be low and so that the naira can have value ..so that the salary a worker is paid has value and can address a lot of things and the worker can provide his needs and wants and can even save some money from his salary sef

I mean total blame shouldn't be on the foreigners, those in authority gave them the privilege to misbehave. They sold us out that's why they have the guts to enslave us in our country.

A child disrespecting his parents in the presence of outsiders is indirectly encouraging them to do same to his parents.

Dangote for instance can't go to Germany and enslave German citizens working in his factory, the government would hit him hard.........Our so-called leaders have failed us.

Even MultiChoice a South African owned company is ripping us in Nigeria, what's stopping them from doing per per view? Nor be people for government dey support dem?

I'm not surprised. This has been going on for decades even before the return to democracy in 1999. Many Nigerians are slaves in their own country but these same Nigerians will mock Nigerians abroad as "second class citizens". At least, a Nigerian abroad is not in delusion of his/her status abroad and can always move back to Nigeria and a comfortable life than many home-based Nigerians that have no options. As I have always said, a long as you are from a poor family, you are a second-class citizen in Nigeria.

You can't even blame these foreigners. They observe the way you lots treat your staff, drivers, gatemen, househelp or anyone socially below you and act accordingly. They see how your policemen and soldiers have reduced themselves to errand boys for anyone that has money and do the same. The buck stops with the average Nigerian.

Nlc are very useless, politics have blond their sense of reasoning.
I work like five companies at agbara, ogun state and what i went through really traumatized me, Indian, Chinese, Indonesia and Nigerian company are all the same, wickedness towards their employees, low salary, no safety and no job security, infact I don't know the impact of NLC to Nigeria employees, employees/labor work is not a crime but the Nigeria system make it seems that way.

Is not only in Nigeria o, back in the days I went to Cote D'Ivoire the Chinese construction company is paying 4000 CFA per day but you will only receive your money after 15 days.

Alaye you go work taya, Chinese, indians and Lebanese they are complete 'black man promax'.

Still went to Senegal the same, black man dey suffer no be small. But I think is better to suffer in a foreign country than in your own country 'E dey pain special '.

They only advice I have for such people still going through with such job is for them to Japa to Cote D'Ivoire because 4k CFA is 10k naira, still better than 3k naira.

Las las save enough in Cote D'Ivoire Japa far.

We need a government that shows it really cares for her citizens... and able to revive the economy...

The reason why these employers put Nigerians under those harsh conditions... is because they assume the employees have no other better job offer...

When we have a prospered economy... it means more jobs have been created... therefore employers know that without a good welfare package no one would apply to work there...

But then who do you blame? What can Labour do when Ministers/Senators and other government officials are the ones behind the setup of such factories in the country in the first place.
Trump is putting strict laws to safeguard America from foreigners who come through porous borders. And he is making sure he achieves that. We need a President who is ready to work and give directions if not, nothing works.
Ask yourself if only the President should do everything? If so why do they collect dues from their members and participate in National discussions. The Union is very useless to put it mildly.

Oga the workers have options, they do not have to work on in the Indian owned factories if the payment is as you say, they should go work in Nigerian owned factories or the Chinese etc.
Are there no apc, government even jagaban owned institutions, industries they can seek employment where they will be paid 900k monthly just as the Indian expatriates? If you decide to work in the factories the Indians setup (of which your politicians or indigenes have declined to establish) why then complain? Is it better the factories are shut down then you have no work to do other than Agbero and other nuisances? Why not the workers quit, certainly it will make the Indians increase salaries if they see nobody to man their equipments. I doubt that will work though, because as you leave the job, 1000s of people are waiting to replace you.
Bros you better put your head down and work hoping for better opportunities, last last those Indians will ship down 100s of workers from up north to come and run those machines at cheaper cost. I have seen Chinese bring in buses full of abokis to Lagos to work in a factory, they lived in a section of the place, they had their own catering etc, they did not mingle with the locals, after they finished their contract, they returned back to the north.
Next election vote for politicians that will create jobs, improve the economy and drive poverty away.

Let our youths learn a skill,no one will pay you well for lifting iron or inhaling smoke that cranes or forklifts and extractors can do better.it is whose fault when you see hundreds of people line outside the gates of these factories to take that 2k daily jobs, some will even do it for 1500.
An average tailor or call it designer if you like now takes nothing less than 15k to sew just buba and sokoto native style which can be done within 2/3 hrs without stress and if you are good you can make up to 10 in a week, that’s 150k. A barber or call it hair stylist now makes dreadlocks or braids not less than 15k for a man or woman in few hrs without any harassment or maltreatment from anyone,if he can make braids for up to 10 people or even more inone week,he will make up to 200k in a week…I don’t know why any one will go and queue up for 2k 8/9hrs job daily, even a keke rider in Lagos makes up to 15k daily after all expenses.
How will a grown up man not be queuing for 2k jobs daily when instead of thinking it is government and tinubu they hold responsible for their misfortunes, they don’t even blame village people again grin cheesy grin
Your assertion is very spot on
