I also advocated for a reinstatement of a vital democratic tradition, one practiced in our early Republics, whereby any Nigerian born in a State or who has lived there for over ten years, with good conduct, should be granted indigene status and its attendant benefits. |

naptu2:Yes, I said it and the reasons are glaring. We now have a so-called commercial capital, developed for over 80 years with federal funds, hosting the headquarters of banks, telecom giants, ports, and oil & gas majors. A city that functioned as Nigeria’s capital , economically and politically has now been subtly hijacked by a select few. What once welcomed all Nigerians is now showing signs of selective hostility and veiled xenophobia toward the very investors and citizens who built and sustained it. Three inevitable paths lie ahead: 1. The federal government must establish and empower federal commercial capitals in all six geopolitical zones, ensuring balanced development and economic inclusion. 2. The citizenship law must be reformed recognizing birth and length of stay as valid criteria for citizenship and political participation in any Nigerian state. 3. The constitution must be restructured ,removing over-centralized powers from the exclusive list, enabling states to grow, innovate, or even choose their own path forward. If the Lagos precedent persists unchecked, it will lead to one destination, a future we may all regret. The signs are on the wall, and the clock is ticking |

Goodvibes007:.you still don't get it , Lagos was the federal capital. And now still enjoys the semblance of a commercial capital with the federal government giving it and undue advantage by funding railway projects, sea port projects , prioritizing road, airport and seaport. Any attempt to reverse the status of Lagos while not protecting the individual rights of other Nigerians whose resources were used to develop Lagos will only lead to very big undesirable end . |

kettykin:Industrial areas of Lagos like Ikeja, Agege, Mushin, Ikorodu, Epe, and Badagry were all developed by Awolowo's Western region and annexed to form Lagos state about 60 years ago. Lagos has stopped being the capital since 1993. The development Lagos has witnessed today is the hardworking of its present political structure created by President Tinubu when he was governor. Lagos was a mess prior to 1999. Below is a picture of Lagos as Capital and Lagos after 1999..

kettykin:You are a big joker. Lagos is Yorubaland today and will be forever. Ancestors of present day Yorubas in Lagos fought to keep Lagos Yoruba. We can smell Hope Uzondimas "no man's land" from a mile away. Same thing his ancestors did in the 1950s. We all saw what biafrian army did with SS minority during the biafrian war. Guess who paid most for that error.. the Soutn Easterners. |

Goodvibes007:Am not disputing the ownership of ikeja axis , I am simplifying that if Lagos continues as the headquarters of the banking, telecommunications, oil and gas companies and getting preference treatments from the federal government in terms of railway, seaport, power, airport projects against other regions and Abuja then the present attempt at tribalising Lagos, introducing xenophobia and new ethnocentrism will only lead to an undesirable ,unforgettable and unforseen destination |

Thewrath:Boss...have you seen anybody in Lagos , Abuja, or porthacourt holding anybody from going back to his homeland... Let all your people relocate to your states and then start governing yourselves the way you believe in... |

kettykin:So its lagos fault that headquarters of the banking, telecommunications, oil and gas companies decided tk stay in Lagos and not else where. Maybe hold your own governors accountable time I.e. make their own states attractive enough for investment. I remember how Tibubu as a governor was hustling for investors, even traveling from one country to another, while some governors in Enugu were shouting Ebeanor Upandan. We dont need to tribalize lagos. Lagos is already tribalized from its origin, culture, tradition and history. Its Yorubaland and will continue to be. I can see you are pushing "no man's land" vibe. |

chopnaira:Keep pushing the xenophobia very hard so that the tipping point will come sooner and you will understand why kaduna is the most peaceful city on Nigeria, I won't say more than this. |

🤣 Kettykin, so why should anybody take you serious since you've now confirmed that your story that Lagos is dying, it'll be like Warri and that people are running away is not true? How do people believe that your new claim of a civil war is not another lie? 🤣 |

Some people have already forgotten what happened to their fathers and grandfathers at Ore. ![]() Lagos to the West is protected by Porto Novo (Yoruba city in Benin republic) and Ogun and Ondo to the East. Osun and Oyo to the north of Ogun. Atlantic Ocean to the south. You people should dead your agenda.

Honestly, these people just want to plunge Nigeria into chaos.. how can someone from a different State go to another to claim indigene?. do you want to start dragging their kingship, and other sensitive positions with the real indigenes or what exactly is the Imo Governor driving at?. PBAT should not listen to these people.. restructuring with proper regional system of Governance is the only way forward for Nigeria. Don't cause problem that even the Military won't be able to curtail, we are different people and we must all respect each other's boundaries. Do the business that took you outside your region in peace and go back home, don't go and start demanding for kingship titles and ownership of land in other people's regions.. the endless Fulani killings should serve as serious warning to every discerning mind about what these greed.y lots are proposing. |

Do people really want a constitution that says an Hausa man born in Enugu can take the minister slot for Enugu and etc?. I don't think so but people can and have been integrating themselves. It does not need to be ingrained in the constitution in my opinion. On the issue of states, any group that wants a state should be given a state but what is making it hard is that states are equally represented in the senate. As it is now the SW and the NW are underrepresented in the government if their population is compared with other zones. |

Seems Fulanis are this guy's paymaster. How is he thinking about the favorable condition of indigenship for his people without seeing the negative effect of it. If Fulanis start taking up everywhere now, I am sure his tribe's men will be the first people to start crying. Abi this guy no dey think? Because he is rich and can afford to move his family away from this country anytime gbege start, he now wants to set the country on fire with his foolishness. Jobless Hope Uzodinma. |

Indegeneship can never change. It is equal to being a native of a land. You mean residence? That can change as you move but you are bound to a certain tribe and its tribal boundaries by your birth and it can never ever change. Not anywhere in the world. Natives are natives. Easterners should focus more on building their region. I think this recent push by SW is putting a lot of pressure and spotlight on SE leaders by their people. Before they could just push their people out on other regions. Now that other regions are pushing back, there is pressure on them to actually work and produce results. Which is a fantastic thing! No one will give up their heritage for you, so you can escape responsibility and your people can roam the earth causing trouble because they are not at peace at home. |
