EDO State Governor Monday Okpebholo’s insistence that the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, must seek his approval before visiting Edo State is not only an affront to basic decency but a clear subversion of the 1999 Constitution.https://punchng.com/okpebholos-reckless-outburst-endangers-freedoms/

APC introduced another level of evil and madness into our democracy. The illiterate hovernor does not even understand the 8mplication of his outbust. How educated, enlightened and loving Edo people found themselves with this unfortunate governor is worrisome. |

Phoen1X:Not everyone reason like you. You people would see a positive news from Bloomberg and IMF and still call it propaganda Nah! We are smarter than that As for the topic, the CSO of the state said he needs notification so as to guarantee Obi's safety. I dont understand the tears thats been flowing since he made that reasonable comment |

The so-called leaders are enabled and emboldened by the same impoverished followers; we see many of them on here cheering the Edo State governor on. It's unfortunate. And all for what? For paltry peanuts pinched out to them. The same politicians will deny them their rights and treat them like dungs tomorrow, and you see them lamenting. |

"Federal Republic of Nigeria is clear: every citizen has the right to move freely, speak without fear, and associate without interference throughout the republic. Section 41(1) guarantees unrestricted freedom of movement, so long as it is not for crime or violence. Obi is not on record as engaging in such illegalities in his philanthropic jaunts. Section 39 of the 1999 Constitution enshrines the right to free expression. These rights are inalienable, not privileges to be dispensed or withheld at the whim of any governor, regardless of office or “Chief Security Officer” status. |

It was incredibly easy to misunderstand Okpebholo's speech due to his rascally manner of speaking, that didn't even hit the nail on head in making his actual message clear to Obi. |

APC and thier electronic-idieots on nairaland are saying it's okay since Peter Obi is a VIP. Not long from now, another opposition party might have the audacity to also ban Seyi Tinubu from setting foot in the states they control for any humanitarian or political reasons since it was allowed under his father. 🤡 S |

So everyone is supposed to ignore the obvious mistake and focus on 'meaningful' contribution? If you want people to focus please avoid grammatical errors. There are so many positive points you guys can highlight in the current Government but all of you decide to spend all your time chasing Peter Obi up and down. I pity Tinubu for gathering dullards around him. Even if he wins, his supporters will not allow him be remembered for good. helinues: |

When Benue gov started this, am sure he doesn't know how far reaching it will get to. This could be a prelude to an outright banning of opposition figures in the future. A Gov/President can totally ban any opposition political party from gathering anywhere without an OUTRIGHT SECURITY CLARANCE in the coming years. Don't be surprised, in 2027 this will be taken further to prevent any opposition campaign in any state because of "Security issues" until a governor or president approves their gathering |

Does the governor take clearance from wike when he visits Abuja? The things that apc are encouraging today will be thier albatross tomorrow. There was a time the masses where united in condemning the excesses of the politicians. But some of those masses have shown thier true colours that they were only seeking to position themselves to be slaves to oppressors. |

The apc just looks like a gathering of illiterate thugs, extremely corrupt individuals and ethnic and religious bigots I really pray they don't plunge nigeria into another civil war or make the military boys hijack power again. |

The opposition is petrified of Obi. i label them the "opposition" because, despite occupying the seat of power, they lunge at Obi like serpents completely surrounded on all sides, hoping to score a bite. However, as ignominious as their attempts, they are matched only in scale by the characters of the reptiles that hurl them. A politically hungry SUG president, a no-name Rivers state politician, with the grand finale of this tomfoolery being the two most incompetent governors in the country -- Alia and Okpebholo -- who have watched as marauders march into their states and plunder innocents without making any effort to stop them. Despite the unending nature of these attacks, these governors point to Obi's "untimely" visit to their state as the issue most deserving of their attention. |

Kaiser20:That means u are a complete novice in nigeria's politics by nature u can only attract ur own kind it's a natural phenomenon. Looking at tinibu's past public ultrances where he encouraged his followers and party members to grab and run away with power and not to ever allow opposition figures to have any base in their states won't those statements suppose to give u a clue where all these apc governors are getting their inspiration from to do what they are currently doing? |
