Bad boy! Horrible things happened at Angola/Moz Carpark on car bonnets to disobedient children raised by wayward and careless mothers! Blessed be God some of the main actors at the slaughter slabs there are now repented and have gone on to be men of God with integrity who have not looked back.

Only the wayward ones would call it glorified secondary school like they always do whenever they wanna reset their malfunctioning brains.

The way some youths, most especially girls dress these days I wonder if they were born and raised in hell before they landed on earth. You can tell the design and colour of their panties (the one wey decide to wear ) by merely looking at them.......Some don't even wear panties at all, they'll wear leggings and still hang T-shirt to display càmel toes and bûmbûm.

BTW, nor be BOMB SHOT my eyes see so? grin.... I think say na bûmshort dem dey call am? undecided

Seems a religious extremist has been made the VC, cos it makes no sense at all. Some students already have tattoos as adults, so they should go and scrape it off or what? I hope the circular is fake...

When the university that's supposed to be a higher institution of learning and emancipation is now the opposite, you know something is wrong somewhere.

Good law for those immoral children, I pray Unilag follow this step as there is many immoral children in Akokites campus.

Hmmm ... bomb shorts? ...is this something new? If it is bum shorts they mean then this tells a lot about the level of the university. Before posting...this had to be reviewed by the administration and none couldn't correct it. If you ask me...this seems more like an adult day care institution. It's a shame and embarrassment that a Black African institution ... in Africa ... will not allow a Black person to have his/her natural hairstyle ....dreadlocks ... and will punish him/her for doing so. But the female will be allowed to wear wigs and perm her hair and whatever is not African hair culture but European culture will be allowed. Tattoo is African culture ... not allowed.

The biggest threat to Africa is an African with a colonialized mind.

You can't even hold a debate with most of your professors. They will use i m older to put you down.
I tell you … Miseducation is worse than not being educated.
It might even be ignorance but that shouldn’t be an excuse when you can watch videos of campus across the world from the same devices people are spewing rubbish from.

This country useless no be small.

I remember playing with a dude that plaits his hair, that guy is one of the coolest bassist I have played with and he destroyed so many of these stereotype for me.

The people making these stupid rules will turn around and vote Tinubu a second time.
Your dude was a performing artist not a student in a responsible community. In performing arts, anything goes. Every community has its core values and ethics. In the military, you can't wear dreadlocks, anywhere in the world. So, as a performing artist, anything goes.

Education itself is an organized body of standardized knowledge: where real knowing is sifted from myths and fables. It is the factory where knowledge is birthed, investigated, sifted, standardized, passed on to benefit the society; and where it is fedback for further investigations.
So Sir, any students or parents who feel universities cannot do beyond the curricula for learning should stay away from tertiary institutions. Education is a choice. Anyway, in today's Nigeria, education is a scam.

Met this dude with dreadlocks and I got to know he is a pastor and does some youth rehabilitation programme.
OAU is just disconnected from reality.

LASU also have their dress code similar to this. Even if you are a PhD student you must be careful how you dress within the school premises. And I really love this. Some students are disgusting the way they dress and you start wondering if they are students or Yahoo boys.

The environment generally dictates how you dress. If the school upgraded itself starting from the VC, people who engage with the institution would generally dress ‘appropriately’, whatever appropriately is. Students in public North American schools don’t even wear uniforms and Uniforms in British schools stops at secondary school or 6th form. Nigeria that it stops at secondary school; adults who have passed through the education system don’t want to relinquish that control over younger people 😭

Westerners generally try to make life easier for theirs offsprings, why do we have a culture of oppression huh

It's a snapshot of the entire country, with the exception of a few companies and individuals.

shortgun:
This dress code circular from Obafemi Awolowo University is not only draconian in content but embarrassingly sloppy in execution. For an academic institution that prides itself on intellectual excellence, this document is riddled with misspelled words, grammatical blunders and inconsistencies. If you’re going to police students’ appearance with such intensity the bare minimum is to do it with proper English.

Instead of equipping students to face the real world, you’re turning the university into a 1970s military barracks. If OAU put half this energy into fixing hostels, updating curricula, or paying lecturers maybe we wouldn’t be here talking about dress codes written like a failed WAEC essay.

Universities are supposed to prepare students for a diverse and globalized world not shame and punish them into submission. OAU as an institution is clearly stuck in the past

U don't know Awo boys. During our time, the school management can't even try to implement this policy. We will shut down the senate and shut down the school main gate immediately. They are lucky that OAU students have calm down.
Who losses, lecturers will still be paid, you shut down the Senate and school main gates, officials will enjoy the holiday you gave them. Abi you think it is sweet to stand in from of students to teach everyday? To raise hand to be writing on board?
That one na guarantee goodtime for staff club from morning to night. grin

Unwelcome touching, kissing and hugging of opposite sex
Massaging or sitting on the lap opposite sex
Rustication for two (2) semesters
Where did these immature sex starved jealous lecturers come from sef huh

Their mates dey concentrate on ground breaking research and writing code for AI and all they are busy with is policing teenagers who kiss one another or sit on one another's laps as if they did not kiss when they were teenagers. Some of these holier than thou hypocrites got women pregnant or themselves got pregnant at a very young age and now they are forming morality police out of jealousy for their children's age mates.

This is nice. Considering all dress code mentioned are for informal environment.
