🍁 Whenever Al-Mufadhal Ibn Fudalah (رحمه الله) prayed Asr prayer on a Friday, he’d seclude himself to a corner of the Masjid and would not cease to make supplication up until the sun had set. [Akhbar Al-Quda’ (3/238)]

🍁 Ibn Asakir mentioned in his book: “Al-Salt bin Bastam was afflicted with blindness, so his brothers sat and prayed for him on Friday at ‘Asr time. Before sunset, he sneezed, and his sight returned.” [Tarikh Madinah ad-Dimashq 64/140]

🍁 Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal (رحمه الله) said: “From what is proven from the ahadeeth is that this hour starts after Asr and it can also be hoped for after the setting of the sun.” [Sharh us-Sunnah: 4/209]

🍁 Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) said: “And this hour is the last hour after Asr, revered by all people of different faiths.” [Zaad al-Ma’ad 1/384]

Reformist modern scholars want us to rush and pray Asr at 3:40 pm to 4:15 pm max as against the other traditions that favour delaying it further, make us unable to wait to take advantage of this valuable period anymore because the world we live now has become even more fast paced, thereby also making us disappear from the mosque or the place of prayer long before 5pm and then miss out on this golden opportunity which comes even later.

Turns out that the (gentle) group of people they love to dismiss, as sufi, uphold this tradition better as they have well defined programs or disciplines to gather themselves or indulge in zikr at this period.

Seems we missed it at some point right before now.

May Allah help the ummah, ameen.

The Sabians were also praying during this period in the time of Muhammad. Many parts of Islam was copied from Sabians, Jews and Christians. There is nothing like revelation from any Angel. Just copy and paste!
