Not surprised about African countries not making the list...

Harvard University in the US alone generates or has more money than some African countries.

It's a pity African countries aren't tapping fully into their potentials.

That aside I am surprised Russia with a the economic and other sanctions was able to make the list and in a strong position too.

As for France the first thing that crossed my mind seeing her name there was how they must have used stolen wealth from African resources to develop their country.

Stolen resources and rare earth minerals from their so called assimilation policies from bukinafaso, Niger etc.

Africa/ns really needs to wake up!

With how Alot of Africa Franchophone countries were crying and changing Govt France still made it..

Is easy to see Made in France than to see Made in any Africa country. They've dere tourist Attractions. So do they really need Africa resources before they make money..

So what's Africa even Producing?

The currency you can bank on and are more stable are those Franchophone Xaf/Xof and it's been like that for Years...

The Problem of Africa is they always look for someone to blame for there cluelessness instead of admitting dere failure...

why would Nigeria make it when we practise Fascism packaged as Democracy

even with the packaging, the totalitarian nature is overwhelming. Only one man holds all the power. When he is seniled, the whole countries bears the brunt.

and they keep defending this economy.

What is surprising is that the UK is only a few hundred billion from catching up with Japan, and is around $600 billion ahead of France.

I have always wondered how the UK has such high GDP.

These days, you can hardly find anything anywhere that is is 'Made in England' or 'Made in the UK',yet its GDPis nearly 20% more than France. It is quite an achievement.

However, despite a high GDP, it has the most complaining people on planet earth smiley

If you check you tube, you would think it is worse than Somalia the way people there whinge non stop.

This simply means the baby boomer GENERATION failed AFRICA, they can cover up ,pretend, deflect and blame the youths as much as they want like they always do but they set up the youths for failure. They set up the future generations of AFRICA. The younger generation have a lot of work to Do.

Re: No African Country Made The IMF Top 20 Economies In 2025 by Ablesam171:
Africa has never had a real say in major global decisions. The only reason the world pays attention to Africa is because of its natural resources, not because Africa earned them, but because they were simply there by nature. Black people are the only race still disrespected just because of their skin color and all these are possible because our leaders are always begging them please give us this and give us that, please come and invest, instead of negotiating even in the case of negotiations we're always at the losing end of the negotiations.
Africa and its leaders need to wake up and start making smart choices that will give the continent a real seat at the table when important decisions are being made.

And when it's about population, Nigeria will feature in the top 10, we have problem in Africa, instead of growing economy rapidly, we focus on growing population. All what we know of is producing babies and not being productive. If we can't grow the economy to meet up with population growth, we can at least slow down the population growth by just adopting 2 kid policy till we are sensible enough to increase our productivity. GROW THE ECONOMY NOT THE POPULATION

Wale Edun already explained how Oshiomholeโ€™s Assembly of Past Criminals, APC destroyed everything that deregulation and privatisation PDP capitalists handed over to them a decade ago.

thisweekng:
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeriaโ€™s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubuโ€™s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, โ€œI think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

โ€œBut it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

โ€œIf we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.โ€
Private sector to drive the economy

Edunโ€™s honesty is welcome, but donโ€™t romanticize 2013โ€“2014. That growth barely helped most Nigerians. The real issue now is if the government will push serious reforms, corruption, energy, security, not just repeat โ€œprivate sector will drive growth.โ€
