A US-based mum has cried out in frustration and heartbreak after discovering that her 12-year-old daughter is pregnant. According to her, the shocking discovery began when she checked the trash can and noticed unused sanitary pads.

Suspicious, she confronted her daughter and asked why she hadn’t been using the pads despite claiming she was. When questioned further, the daughter hesitated but insisted she had been using them. Still unconvinced, the mother handed her a pregnancy test kit and asked her to take the test in the bathroom. The result? Positive. Her 12-year-old daughter was pregnant.

The devastated mother revealed that she is a single parent who has been raising her daughter alone, doing everything by herself. To make matters worse, she disclosed that the daughter had previously run away from home and only returned about a month and a half ago—only for this new shock to follow.

In a fit of anger and pain, she stated that the girl will now go back to her father. “If he likes, they can go for an abortion,” she said bitterly. “But she’s going to do it with her father. I’m tired. It’s not easy being a single mother.”

The mother also vowed to find out who is responsible for the pregnancy, threatening to arrest and jail whoever got her underaged daughter pregnant. She plans to conduct a blood test to trace the culprit.

OP, why do you believe it is OK to shame this girl for her mistake at 12 years of age? With this pictures of her, you are literally trying to drag her here on Nairaland.

This is so sad. So so sad. Who do you blame? In an environment where kids are exposed to controversial sexual ideologies at a very young age what do you expect. It only takes the special grace of God for them to turn out morally upright. Imagine a girl of such tender age has even run away from home before! Run to where? What's the world turning into?

Were are we heading, this world is already running towards its collapse.

How can that little girl be pregnant? 😳
With what body is she going to carry the pregnancy?
This generation is gone!

Young girls should be taught to abstain from sex, instead of protected sex.
It is for their own good. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

There was no intention of shaming the little girl. Dragging or not, I’m sure no one here knows the girl — the incident didn’t even happen in Nigeria. But knowing the kind of people here, I get it.

Hopefully, people learn something from this.

Poor child… I hope she finds peace, and heals from whatever is troubling her. Why would her mother expose her to world like this?

Hmmm… okay. So, what’s the way forward? What’s your advice, sir? What do you think the mother should do in this situation?🤔

First, you gave her a SMARTPHONE to communicate with men from different walks of life & you didn't realise that was awful, right?
Too young for such..

Secondly, why push her to her Dad now especially for abortion purposes?
Didn't she have this dad since?
Why now that such happened especially with you around?
You want her dad to be the only one to physically bear a shame he was never recently part of😭😭😭. A complete avoidance of accountability & responsibility.

Learn to own up. We make mistakes.
There was simply a huge gap you never supervised. Her dad or others may have wanted to speak, but for fear of being shouted down they kept quiet. I may be wrong too, but why the rush now to send her to her Dad?

Finally, if you are mature enough this wouldn't be on social media in the first place.

This woman failed as a mother. I can decipher that she shut off her daughter's dad from this poor girl's life and she was not a friend to her daughter.It is when yawa has gased, you remember her father- for abortion.
This woman should be closer to her daughter the more this period and be her close confidant as they both sail through the murky waters.
Parents should try to be in their children lives and be their friends/confidants. Smartphones for kids is a time bomb.If at all, the kids should have a smart phone , it should be 100% monitored and censored. Parenthood is all about intentional responsibility.

after the damage has been done, the father will now have full access to the girl.

Find out the male involved in the pregnancy to determine if the kid is being abused, and next, terminate the pregnancy ASAP, her body is too young for childbirth. Subsequently, place her on birth control to prevent such in the future. No need to throw a hissy fit, as kids make mistakes and ensure she understands sex education and her body biology.

After taking the child away from her father, now that the goods is bad,she remembers the father.

If the woman has been playing her part well as a mother, yet daughter turned out this way, then I do not blame her, She's right to send the child out of the house. I heard her mention "kids", meaning she may have more than one child, so life goes on.
