2011 Honda Accord Vs 2010 Toyota Camry: Please Which One Should I Buy? by Grit2943(op): 6:54am On Jul 25, 2025
Good morning everyone.
Please I need professional advice on the best option to choose between buying a 2011 Nigerian used Honda Accord and a 2010 Nigerian used Toyota Camry. Both engines have four cylinders each.
I am looking for reliability, lower maintenance cost and good fuel economy.
Thank you very much in advance.

2010 Camry is known to be very reliable, all previous recall related issues in Camry were fixed.

2011 Honda accord has a nice interior styling to it, a few reliability issues and poor resale value but honestly I think the elegance and interior makes up for it.

What the Camry lacks in interior styling, it made up for it in body style. Both vehicles are common on Nigerian roads anyway so let's forget about 'common vehicle syndrome' but Camry's interior is not bad at all. A lot of people will even argue that it has better styling than accords of the same generation. Think of Tesla's minimalist approach.

In terms of overall elegance, I give it to the Camry. But Accord is more aerodynamic, has a better drag coefficient and for that engine description, the accord slightly edges out Camry when it comes to fuel mileage.

The Camry will continue to run for years though, less maintenance, mechanics understand it better. It will bring you less 'shame' and will get you going many times than it won't.

Driving comfort of Camry is also better. Thanks to its venza wheelbase and technology.

Having said that, in the end it depends on how well these vehicles have been used but I can tell you that Camry handles misuse better than that Honda.

Your mind might be tilting towards Honda but if you want to ride a vehicle and not a vehicle riding you, GO FOR CAMRY WITHOUT THINKING IT TWICE!!

I heard the Camry of that year is good. So go for it. Although the accord is more heavier and better handling. If you plan to use it for a long time without minding reselling it. You might consider 2013 accord. Or 2015 civic. Better durable engine.

Please can you speak on one or 2 of such reliability issues you claim plague the 2011 version of the Honda Accord both either the i4 or v6 variants? 🤔

I am very interested to hear what you have to say on this topic in question thanks 👍

Excessive oil consumption and engine misfires (V6 with VCM)

Vibration and roughness from worn engine mounts

Automatic transmission hesitation, slipping or delayed shifting

Warped brake rotors causing vibration when braking

Faulty power door lock actuators

Cracked compliance bushings or worn steering components
Suspension bushings especially front compliance bushings may fail, resulting in noise or steering instability. Some owners also report steering fluid leaks and sudden control loss (Honda faced serious lawsuits for this particular one in 2011 to 2016)

Poorly designed or uncomfortable seats (Every Eagle spirit owner can tell you this)

what you are listing there are from abuse vehicle it’s not a major issue to the accord. If you buy original engine mount you won’t go there in years. But those new ones will spoil every 6 months. Misfiring is not a major issue for that car. Maybe you experience it doesn’t main it’s a general thing. Resell value yes. It’s was the carryover from the 1998 accord ball joint issue that made Honda suffer resell value.

Apart from the VCM issues all these other one are a wear and tear depreciation/maintenance related issues. I didn't know of any recalls for such. Plus the automatic transmission issue was not one to trigger recalls except in earlier models o the accord.

Where did you get all these your facts from? Edmunds?

Exactly 💯 what I'm thinking. It's like he's attribution wear and tear issues to factory defects which is absolutely impossible to reconcile on an accord of the 2011 model year

I used ES. I drove my dad's muscle for years too

I meant where did you get the information of a 2011 Honda Accord having all the factory defects you listed in that first post you made up there?

Have you used an accord before?

I used ES. Eagle Spirit, same Honda accord I drove my dad's muscle for years too

1989' Camry, 2003 Sequoia, 2004 sienna, 20011 Accord, and my dad's 2008 sienna. I have used these vehicles quiet well.

Fuel issues aside, the sequoia is my favorite(took it on so many cross country tours long before fulani started kidnapping people), followed by the camry. But since the sequoia is a v8, I would say the same gave me the best experience, took a lot of abuse, doesn't break, very great fuel consumption.

But when it comes to modern aesthetics and driving comfort, I am sorry bro, accord, for me, comes far behind the camry.

Yes I understand that the bolded part above ☝️ in your post is an individual opinion and everyone has a vehicle they feel they are comfortable with more than others. It's very normal.

But my own query was with this very post below 👇 which you made initially

Vibration and roughness from worn engine mounts

Automatic transmission hesitation, slipping or delayed shifting

Warped brake rotors causing vibration when braking

I read it and I told you that apart from the VCM and uncomfortable seating settings (especially if your on the taller side) issues which can both be eliminated quite easily by 3rd party tools, why did you include all those other issues on your list of problems with the 2011 model Honda Accord? Did you experience these issues over and over again while you were using yours hence the reason you say they are inherent defects with that vehicle model year or did you pull it off the internet and post it here as fact? 🤔

It’s the normal bag wagon of. Nigerians. They use personal experience to generalize cars. Someone who’s drive a severally abuse car will bad mouth car without asking from other users.

Any of both cars will serve the owner, only if the owner properly maintains them.

My biased opinion will be the accord, because I drive one.
