Let us fold our hands and watch where Tinubu and his ethnic politics is taking Nigeria.

The most interesting truth is that most of this people claiming and changing street names are not actually from lagos.
They are not lagosians by origin, just other yorubas who came from different states in the South West.

A lot of them don't even own half plot of land in lagos.

Fact remains that time will come when the real lagosians will be able to take over political leadership in lagos o
My concern is that anyone from other parts of Yorublaland can come to Lagos and become something else, they wouldn't have been in their own state, eg. Hamzat, deputy governor of Lagos State, whose father is an Oba in Ogun , Obasa, Tinubu, Sanwo- Olu, James Faleke, etc. But no one from Lagos State, can go to any part of other Yorubaland and become a counselor.
Unfortunately, the indegenous people of Lagos State, are comfortable in their state, playing second fiddle. That's my concern.

He is an Oba via his mother line.

He shock you bah. That's Yoruba unity for you. Lol.

Tinubu is lagosian via Her mother Habeebat Mogaji.

Sanwo Olu is an Ijebu lagosian.

Obasa is a Yewa Lagosian from Agege.

The only non lagosian you mentioned is Faleke from Kogi but he is Okun Yoruba and we love him.

History can be preserved while some names necessary to be changed to correct their sense
Then if it is changed, then its no longer history. It's current affairs. Let us no allow our tribalistic sentiments wash away the heros of our past.

Just listen to yourself🤣🤣🤣🤣 it doesn't matter where they are from, it is the duty of all Omoluabi's to protect their heritage within all borders of Yorubaland. Our ancestors own and built Lagos, you can as well develop any state in your region to an economic heaven...oh that's not possible, crime rate in your region is something else. You all run down to Lagos to live the real life🤣

On the contrary it is uou lots from different parts of south West that want to take lagos from the real owners.
You all have your states where you came from just like the igbos, so stop claiming lagos
Re: Street Naming: Lagos History Must Be Preserved, Says Fashola by kenq2t(m): 4:44pm On Jul 30, 2025
When Lagos was a swamp nobody knows it's history must be preserved now that people from other places invested their money in Lagos and made it a mage city you now remember the history of Lagos. Clowns

It very well matters where they came from. The real owners of lagos has never complained about igbos or Igbo street names. It is other yorubas who came to lagos like igbos did that are hating on igbos and claiming lagos.
You all have your states like every other Nigerians in lagos.

Thanks for that. But can any indegenous Lagosian, go to any of part of Yorubaland aside Lagos and become an ordinary counselor? That's my queston.
Can you stand before God, who created the heaven and earth and say Habeebat Morgaji was Tinubu's biological mother?
You know the dichotomy between people of Yelwa area in Ogun State and their struggle to become governor in Ogun State, but here, they are deputy governor, speaker of HOA. It's well.
Let me tell something, there's nobody or Igboman who doesn't know that Lagos belongs to some people, if not, when you buy land, who gives you receipt for the land, if nobody owns it
But the Yorubas are just using as a cloak, to attack the IGBOS in Lagos as the did to the Fulani/ Hausas in 2003,we understand your games, but you can't succeed. Trust me

Your ancestors did not build and did not own lagos. Your ancestors were farming cocoa and crops in Oyo and Ogbomoso before coming to hustle in lagos like other Nigerians

The indigenous people of lagos are not comfortable with the second fiddle role they are playing in lagos politics, it's just that they have been overwhelmed by these outsiders who are now claiming lagos. But it will not last forever because one day soon they will take over their State from those hate mongers.

Lol so this ownership mentality is really in you guys' head🤣🤣🤣 yes they were farming cocoa and used the proceeds to develop western region all the way to Delta. But your ancestors, what were they doing? 🤣🥲🧐🧐 money rituals? Civil war? Now you guys cant even survive in your own land, you have to start stealing other people's heritage🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

An Oba is greater than a councilor. It's a life position. His reply already answered your question.

Language, ancestry, and geography bind people together all over the world. The military is the one that tried to bundle everyone together, all in the name of unity, which never worked and has never worked anywhere in the world. The French in Canada have their province in Montreal, and they govern themselves without any interference from other English-speaking provinces in the same country, and they insist on their French heritage and make the French language official in all their dealings in their province. Even in terms of migration into their province, they favour Francophone countries and nationals more than others. Same thing with Portugal in Europe, they favour Brazilians from South America migrating to their country more than other nations, so it's nothing strange, just global dynamics of language, geography, and ancestry.

It never. Can an indegenous Lagosian become an Oba in any part of Lagos? You know in politics, a counselor, like the ward, is the lowest political post anyone can hold. I only used that as an example. I discovered, recently that even the G A.C chairman in. Lagos, Olusi, is from Ekiti State. Can the same be for a bonafide member of Lagos State?
I'm not a Lagosian by birth, I don't aspire to any elective position here, I have nothing to do with the politics of Lagos, but my concern is about those who truly are lagosians that you are suppressing.

We complain about your excessiveness and your greediness.

When did you become advocate of the Lagosians when your region is daily being ravaged by kidnappers and criminals
Re: Street Naming: Lagos History Must Be Preserved, Says Fashola by Karlman: 6:10pm On Jul 30, 2025
dequir:
We Yorubas collectively owned Eko, which you are calling Lagos. Because at its onset, when it was mainly a judge, inhabitated by the aboriginal Yorubas, we all migrated from various Yoruba communities to settle there because of its nearness to the sea, and our trading activities with the whitemen.

That's why we have various communities within the metropolis dominated by people from different Yoruba tribes. Epe and Ikorodu by the Ijebus. Lagos Island by the Aworis, Badagry by the Eguns, Maroko by the Ijaws and Ikale, Abuse Egba by the Egbas, etcetera. Also most of the communities in Eko are being ruled by the lineage of their ancestral founders till date. They are not being ruled by the Igbos, or any other tribes, who are recent migrants, who we Yorubas hospitably allowed to own lands among us.

But the moment they are going beyond their boundary, dragging our lands with us, that is why we are now baring our tribal fangs, saying enough is enough.

If they don't like it, let them pack their bags and baggage and return back to their own ancestral lands.
For Starters, Eko is not a yoruba word.
Secondly, you are not a lagosian and do not have any right in lagos more than others.

You lots that are creating tribal hate are usurpers who hijacked lagos politics at the detriment of the real lagosians and have been misbehaving. But your time will end sooner.

I dare you to mention your state of origin in south west?
There is no state in the entire south West that has anything better than other states in Nigeria. They are all dilapidated like their mates all over the country.

Stop claiming lagos, because your father's were farming cocoa and other crops in Oyo and Ogbomoso when Nigerians in general made Lagos what it is today.

You will first tell me your village in the East and back it up with your letter of identification from your LG then come and I will show you my state, my family name and my oriki.

From those people's history that was read, Lagos was populated from the beginning by all Yoruba tribes. The first are the Aworis then followed by Ijebus, Egba, Oyos, Ijeshas and other tribes.

Truly, restructuring Nigeria is way forward according to your signature.

You lots are very funny. I am not surprised that you can't name your state because I already knew shame wouldn't let you.

Non lagosians claiming lagos without their family even owning half a plot of land in lagos.
Yall should go and rest please.
Lagos is Nigeria commercial capital and will remain so. And as far as lagos is concerned you lots who came to lagos from yoruba hinterland will always cry about the progress of the Igbo man.
