SyrusdeHansome:If you're Nigerian and you too have thoughts like these, do you not think other Nigerians feel the same? The reason we can't govern ourselves, don't you know it? The reason wickedness is becoming rampant in the land, have you given thought to the cause? And hey, the reason citizens like you and the rest of us don't like the country and have little or zero care of the future of such a country, give it a little more thought. When you get answers to all these, you'll unde6why even nairaland will ban or suspend your account if you try to rally the masses to wake up and fight. You'll understand why many do not even have the time to worry about the future of Nigeria as the weapon called poverty has so shackled the mindset of the people, they prefer to eat themselves instead of to fight for a better future. It all stems from a root cause. And do not ever think such ailments are easy to combat as the stakeholders are not only in our land but also outside, powerful ones. I never chop, you say make I go fight. Especially with ordinary hand against person wey carry knife, carry gun, still get bomb join. No be suicide be that? This is the reality why many of us won't get up and do the needful. That's especially why those like and I who resent the status quo can do nothing. But pulling resources together and systematically bringing down the system can be possible. I typed tooany words to see if Seun bot go attack me again. As most times, if you type words like the ones I just did, na straight one hour ban with the post deleted immediately so two eyes no go see am. Even with technology, we're still somehow shackled. I get ideas to destroy all these but you no go fit stomach my barbaric ideas, as I like uprooting everything and scapegoating some. You know, kill the goats to warn the dogs kinda thing abi how that adage be sef. Abegi |

While providing for the family is important, a painful truth is emerging in many homes: children are being emotionally abandoned, even though their physical needs are being met. This neglect in proper upbringing, especially of the girl child, is leading to heartbreaking consequences. The recent case of a teenage girl found raped and abandoned in Anambra State, claiming she lives in Lagos but with no family or friend searching for her, is a loud warning. It tells us that many children are slipping through the cracks—unnoticed, unguided, and unprotected. The Cost of Parental Negligence Too many parents have traded presence for provision. They believe paying school fees, providing food, and buying gadgets is enough. But while children may smile with a full stomach and clean clothes, many are starving emotionally—longing for love, attention, discipline, and guidance. In this emotional void, peer pressure, social media, fake friendships, and dangerous influences begin to take root. Many girls, especially, fall victim to manipulation because no one ever taught them what self-worth looks like. No one warned them about the dangers of seeking love and validation from the wrong sources. Why the Girl Child Needs a Father Figure The role of a father in a girl’s life cannot be overemphasized. A loving, present, and protective father teaches his daughter how she deserves to be treated. He sets the standard for what healthy love and respect look like. He provides emotional security that helps her resist negative influences. When a father is absent—physically or emotionally—the girl child is often left exposed. She may seek affection from boys or men who exploit her, confuse attention for love, or fall into destructive cycles of insecurity, rebellion, and poor decisions. Peer Pressure and the Vulnerability of Girls Girls are more exposed than ever before. With the rise of social media, influencers, and fast lifestyles, many young girls are under immense pressure to "belong" and "shine." Without strong moral guidance at home, they begin to copy what they see online, chase validation, and ignore the dangers around them. Peer pressure now determines what many girls wear, how they talk, who they date, and even whether they attend school. Without solid parenting—especially the firm love of a father—they may not have the strength to say no. What Must Be Done Parents must return to intentional parenting—not just as providers, but as guides and mentors. Fathers must be present, not just as figureheads, but as active participants in their daughters' emotional lives. Family time must be sacred—listening, bonding, correcting, and nurturing. Community awareness must increase, reminding parents that raising a child isn’t just about survival, but about character and destiny. If we continue to ignore the emotional needs of our children, especially our girls, we will keep raising a generation that looks polished on the outside but is broken, lost, and hurting on the inside. It’s time to pause and re-evaluate: Are we raising our children, or just funding their lives? |

Anambra, the evil capital of the world . Don't change your ways. Don't clean your acts. Pretend everything is fine and others are your problem. Continue With the propaganda and whitewashing. I pray not to be one of your victims as I will stay away from you as far as possible. |

SyrusdeHansome:Nigeria is not becoming, it is a crime scene. A really big one. To reduce crime, you have to eliminate hunger. To reduce criminality, you have to eradicate hunger and lack mindset. You see that part, it will take atleast 50 years of consistency to do so. SINGAPORE did it. But i doubt nigeria has the political will to follow such suit |

95% of parents are foolish and useless. They have made children vulnerable. Where is our African pride? That one thing that made us far better than the white? We have lost it coz we want to be like the white. No more decent child in the space. No more virgin. Ashawo everywhere and we call them children. I'm still finding it hard to understand to days world we live in. |
