Were the Jews right to execute Jesus Christ?.

First of all, some people insist it was not the Jews that killed Jesus but the Romans but I do not support this view because Jesus was not a threat to Rome in any way. He did not oppose Roman authority and when according to a Bible account he was prodded by the Jews on Rome, he advised everybody to pay tax to Emperor Caesar. He was not a viable messiah and only viable messiahs with large followings were engaged by Rome. A Jewish messiah is someone that will free their country from Rome as at then and make them sovereign again. Many people that assumed that role were killed by Rome and when their followers still insisted they rose from the dead, a particular one was left in a gulley to rot so that everybody can see he did not rise up again.
Back to the Jews and Jesus Christ. I believe Jesus Christ was killed either directly or indirectly by Jewish theocrats for being an apostate. He broke blasphemy laws. Going by what is happening in today’s world where people are allowed to make all kinds of theological claims and brainwash people causing death and misery all over the world, I believe there should be apostasy laws. People should not be free to publicly make any claim about God that they deem fit. They should especially not be able to make claims putting themselves on super human pedestals. There is nothing any human being is that other human beings can not become and if we don't respect that fact we will have issues in our society. In that light I support the Jews that had apostasy laws to prosecute Jesus Christ with in the first century. Though that was not his name but a Greek alias.
What I don't support is the severity of the sentence.
Jesus Christ was prosecuted by the Jews specifically because he publicly claimed to be greater than David, Moses and etc and went further to say he was equal with God. All in public. He claimed to be a leader (more or less King) of the Jews and the Romans were involved because of that. He however never led any insurrection against Rome and did say that his own Kingdom is in the minds of men. The Romans did not see any reason to convict him and they handed him over to the Jews according to the Bible.
In conclusion, were the Jews right to prosecute Jesus Christ?. Yes but the sentence was too severe. However in the past and even in modern times, sentencing for apostasy are always that severe. Since Jesus, many people have been executed for apostasy.

The Jews were wrong!
The first prophet given the power to perform miracles like a God is Moses {Exodus 7:1} and God told the Israelites that there has not risen any prophet like him until the end of the old covenant. Deuteronomy 34:10-12
God also told the Israelites that a prophet like Moses will rise among the Israelites {Deuteronomy 18:18} God warned them that whoever failed to listen to this prophet will be condemned {Deuteronomy 18:19} so from that time on the Israelites were looking forward to seeing the promised prophet but none of those who came after Moses proved to be greater than Moses until the day John the baptist began declaring in the wilderness that someone is coming after him who existed before him {John 1:30} everyone knew that John was six months older than Jesus so what exactly did John mean by that statement?
Well John is indirectly telling them that it's time to meet the promised prophet!
Jesus surely proved to be greater than all the prophets put together through his miracles and the Jews acknowledged this but they don't want him for a reason you should know!
The Jews were an arrogant race who feels they are the most important race in all the earth so when Jesus told them that they have to show love to their neighbors by humbly seeking friendship with people who aren't even worshipers of their God they felt that will make them vulnerable to attack from their enemies and most importantly the Romans who are forcefully colonizing them will have a upper hand {John 11:48} that is the very reason why they conspired to have him killed! John 11:53

So he never claimed to be equal with God he said God is GREATER than him! John 14:28

He never claimed to be God rather he said he is one of the worshipers of God and himself with other worshipers are BROTHERS that's what God never said about His worshipers God never called any of His worshipers His brother! John 20:17

If someone said today 'I and the father are one' as Jesus was recorded to have said in John 10:30 would you consider that blasphemous or not?. Let us face it, Jesus was an apostate. The Jews were right to have apostasy laws but it should not have been capital punishment. However Jesus was not the first or last to be executed for apostasy.

When God's word said about the husband and wife:

"a man will leave his father and his mother and he will stick to his wife, and they will become One" Genesis 2:24

Does it mean that both are equals?

When Jesus said:

"I have given them the glory that you have given me, in order that they may be one just as we are one" John 17:22

Is he saying all his disciples will become God?

He said his disciples may be one with each other meaning unified and equal just as he and God are unified and equal according to him. You reinforced my point with your response. He saw himself as equal to God just like Peter for instance would be equal to James

1. It does not matter what people think but what is recorded, and the record clearly shows that the Jews of Israel handed off the man, Jesus Christ of Israel, to the Romans to have him executed by them on their behalf. undecided

2. He was not a messiah to the Romans, but to the Israelites; there is no record that the Romans even needed a messiah, to begin with. So, the Roman Empire rightly could not have been considered a messiah. He was instead meant to be a Messiah for his people, who chose to misinterpret his messiahship.

3. They thought He was to save them from the Romans, not realizing His Messiahhood was part of the reason for the captivity of Judah. The Prophets of Israel never promised any of what you claim to the people. Rather, they promised destruction in the land when the Messiah finally arrived, and destruction is what happened after the arrival of Jesus Christ of Israel. undecided

4. There is no need for your opinion as it is of no consequence. We know from historical records that he was handed over by the Jews and killed on their behalf by the Romans. undecided

5. Nonsense! 🙄

6. Right or wrong in what sense? What does it matter today, whichever it was? People are even today being executed for the very same. Why hyperfocus on a case from 2000 years ago? undecided

It's not about being right or wrong. It is inherent in human nature to kill dreams and greatness. Remember Joseph story. His brothers sold him out because of his dreams.

The high priest, priests and elders were afraid of losing recognition. So, the man stealing the show must die:

John 11:47-48 - The Pharisees' fear of losing influence:

"Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation."

Matthew 27:17-18

"Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ? For he knew that FOR ENVY they had delivered him."

Even today, so much lives are being destroyed by family members, close friends because of envy.

The Bible for instance was written by Jews. There were no Christian or Muslims during Jesus' birth. All the people present were Jews and no Jew believe today in the virgin birth. Can we therefore say the Bible is wrong on that despite the teeming mass of Christians and Muslims that believe?

For your information there are members of Jehovah's Witnesses in Israel today who are Jew by birth in fact we know some of them who shed tears after they become true Christians so don't just utter words that you can't defend! smiley

Correction! The Bible was written by Israelites -- all 12 tribes of Israel and not just people from the two Jewish tribes of Israel. 🥱🥱

2. Also, where is your evidence that all Jews -- descendants of Judah and Benjamin majorly --- do not believe in Jesus Christ of Israel? Care to reveal your definitive source for this claim? 🥱🥱🥱

Nowadays Jews generally don't know what tribe they come from. However you are right that they are mainly descended from Judah and Benjamin because the Northern kingdom was exiled and sold into slavery by Assyria. However we have to add Levi because the Levites were living among all the tribes performing priestly duties. Some Jews still know they are descended from Levites.
However we can refer to the Northern kingdom as ancient Jews as well because they are the same people. Nothing wrong with referring to them as ancient Jews but present Jews are mainly descended from Judah, Benjamin and Levi apart from members of the Northern kingdom that would have been living in Judah.
Then I am surprised you don't know Jews don't believe in Jesus Christ. They have a name for the biological father of Jesus whom they say was a Roman soldier. The name is Pantheras. They generally make fun of Christians and they have their own traditional tales about Jesus and his disciples. This is something that is known to anybody that has taken time to research the Abrahamic faiths

Then Christ is a Greek word and Christian means little Christs. The meaning of Christ is perfect son of God. Iesous is the perfect son of Zeus. Christian is not derogatory. It is in fact the opposite. They were commending the good conduct of ancient Christians in Antioch.
Then the Romans made Christianity a state religion. They made it popular but we can not really say they founded it. They added the politics though. Early Christians were like JW. They were apolitical and they kept to themselves. If the head of the government of a country becomes a JW and makes it a state religion today the whole thing will play out again and the shy JW will become political

2. Stop cock-and-bullsheeting yourself! 🥱🥱

Anyone who claims to be a Jew has to at least be descended from the bloodline of Benjamin or the tribe of Judah. Anyone without that ancestry cannot be a Jew. Not all Israelites are Jews. 🥱🥱

2. Yes, the Levites were added since they abandoned the Northern Kingdom to migrated back to Jerusalem where the Temple was, and this probably as the Northern Kingdom of Israel fell into decline. However, the original Jewish clans remain Judah and Benjamin. That the Levites mingled with them over time does not change it all. undecided

3. Wrong! The Northern Kingdom of Israel wss never the Jewish Nation. Rather, the southern nation of Judah was the Jewish Nation. undecided

4. Repeating a claim does not make it a fact. Again, provide proof of this census that suggests all Jews reject Jesus Christ of Israel undecided

I don't subscribe to common knowledge but facts,. He group that had been against Jesus Christ of Israel and His disciples were those of the religion of Judaism; They are the Jews who stood against Jesus Christ of Israel and his followers until the end, while there were other Jews who followed Jesus Christ of Israel. undecided

The religion of Judaism DOES NOT speak for all Jews; it never has and never will. So quoting claims made by those of the religion of Judaism as common knowledge for all Jews amounts to admitting ignorance. undecided

"no Jew believe today in the virgin birth"
According to the Bible majority of Jews don't believe true prophets of God that is why God kept sending prophets to them and they keep on killing those prophets so if you are banking on what majority of Jews told you then you have been thoroughly deceived.
Ask a Jew if Moses was a prophet of their God they will tell you "YES" but ask who were those opposing Moses in the wilderness? They will tell you that if they were alive in the time of Moses they won't join those opposers.
Ask a Jew if Elijah was a prophet of their God they will answer "YES" but ask them who were those opposing Elijah back then they will tell you that if they were alive back then they won't join those opposing Elijah.
That's how majority of Jews keep opposing true prophets of God.
As for the virgin birth it's written in their own books that a virgin will become pregnant! Isaiah 7:14
I once quoted this verse for a Jew he said that verse was talking about a young woman then i asked him what is extraordinary in a young woman getting pregnant if that's what Isaiah meant?
He became provoked and walked away!
So if you keep banking on what majority of Jews are saying then you are not searching for truth.
As a Yorùbá man you know what our adage says:

* "Ayé kọ òótọ́"
*"Olóòọ́tọ́ kìí l'ẹ́ní"
*"Òtítọ́ d'ọ́jà ó kùtà, ọ̀wọ́n gógó ni aráyé ra irọ́"

All these Proverbs are saying majority of people hates the truth.
Jesus himself warned us not to follow the crowd because majority are carried away with deceit as their minds are twisted! Matthew 7:13-14 compare to Exodus 23 1:2

* "Ayé kọ òótọ́"

It would be wrong to state that the majority of Jews rejected their prophets back then that they still revere today. Yes, those people may have had opponents but not the majority. However Jesus was utterly rejected back then and now by the majority.

You can't lie to defend what you don't know!

In the days of Noah only seven people believe Noah.
In the days of lot only three people survived the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
In the days of Moses 250 chieftains in Israel were against Moses.
In the days of Elijah 450 prophets were against Elijah.
The Jews themselves can't deny any of these things so stop defending what you don't know! smiley

Are you now saying Noah and Lot were Jewish or that Moses was unpopular among Jews?. That any prophet had some issues with some people does not mean they were rejected by the community as Jesus was

The truth is there has never been a time when the majority accepted a true prophet unless God forced such a prophet on them!
Moses was opposed several times by his own people but God kept destroying all opposers of Moses.
Jesus said that will no longer be the case because what he brought doesn't end among the Israelites so if Jesus and his disciples have to destroy their opposers it won't be out of freewill that people will become Christians but by force.
So when the Jews in general rejected Jesus he told them that their nation has been rejected by God and till today they never had peace! smiley

Whatever is written remains valid until you prove it wrong neither you nor i was present when these things were recorded it's like saying all the stories written about people who lived in ancient times are false so it's whatever you feel against mine! wink
thats not how it works, extra ordinary claims requires extra ordinary proofs, any fool can write anything and claim it’s the word of god,but then prove it
