There’s no way SE won’t be low in contrast to SW
There’s a lot of movement away from SE especially to the SW or SS
I don’t know if it’s political or not but it’s real
A big chunk of the Igbo youth are base in SW or SS and still moving
There’s a big wave of people moving away from the east
Weak
Psychologically weak

We need to stop this estimation and do a proper census using biometrics to capture authentic information from real people. I don't know why this country is afraid to find out the actual tribal and religious makeup of its own people.
Let them keep deceiving themselves.

They are not over estimated. Just check around and see from our politicians.

An average politician from the North will have atleast three wives with above 10 children still counting.
We are not up to 150 million in this country. For an experiment, a stadium cannot contain more than 100,000 but you'll think they're more than a million

South east is lowest because they are all coming to Lagos. Not to talk of others that are moving to India, china and Ghana to develop those places
Be like say you don’t know the population of Igbos is Oyo state , you go fear

SE has 5 states
SS has 6
SW has 6.

So put that factor and edit ur comment.
Again these are estimated

I doubt it though. Have you lived or been to the north? Where exactly are all these numbers? I think we don't have a clue on how many we are. We are probably around 120-140 million

They will still cheat in the so called proper census. At a point, you will hear that the biometric is not coming up, then the cheating will start because of using manual to carry on. Honestly, the problem of Nigeria are Nigerians.

A very accurate and perfect survey.

I hope by the time the FG is ready to do the proper census we won't have any region opposing it.

Meanwhile, I'm laughing at some people trying to fault the stats, no how the South can come near the North in numbers.

Check around and see their governors, the number of their wives, and children and go out there to interview an average northerners, a man of below 30 years old is already with over 5 children.
that's a fact

Re: 2024 Estimated Nigerian Population - North-West Highest, South-East Lowest by lawani(m): 9:27am On Aug 01, 2025
If Lagos alone is like 25 million how can the whole SW be 44 million?. SW is not less than 50 million in population. We are more than 50 million. The population of the SE according to JAMB registration, NIN registration and etc is less than that of Lagos state. They are like 80 percent of Lagos state.
What I believe is that the best kind of federal system is one whereby the revenue you can raise will determine your representation in government in an atmosphere where cost of living is even. Do your census by yourself and send report to the center. That is how it should be.

Then I don't believe the usual tale that the Igbo population all over Nigeria is higher than Yoruba. I believe if an actual census is taken the Yoruba will be higher. If statistics say Yoruba are more than double Igbo in the UK and the USA why not in Kano, Kaduna, Maiduguri or Jos if an actual census is taken?. In Ilesa here where I stay, one can't say Igbo is more than Hausa in population but they are more integrated with the community.

It is only in Nigeria that the hinterland dwellers are more than the people in the lowland areas that are closer to the sea. May we be delivered.

Shame no dey catch these statisense people for this estimation?

Population census supposed to be once every 10years, the last we had was 2006, GEJ was planning to do it cos the one we did last was heavily flawed with so many vague names and identities.
Buhari came in, formed committees, inaugurate NPC board, gave them mandates, till his useless tenure elaspe, nothing to show.

Fake statistics. The north can't match the south population
I think you are shooting the breeze.

The Nigeria Population Commission (NPC) registered 424,302 births in Gombe State between January and November.

Of those registered 187,283 or 44.13 per cent were girls while 237,019 or 55.86 per cent were boys.

Adedeji Adeniyi, head of NPC’s Civil Registration and Vital Statistics in Gombe State, gave the statistics on Friday in Gombe, the state capital.

Do you know what it means to have more than 400K extra mouths to feed in one northern state, in just one year (2023)? cool

You are just making up stuff as you go along.

Take it from someone who crunches stats for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Nigeria's population is huge!

The National Population Commission (NPC) has registered and offered birth certificates to over 10 million children born in 2024 nationwide, its chairman, Alhaji Nasir Isa Kwarra, has said. Kwarra announced this while addressing reporters after the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, presented a birth certificate to the Baby of the Year at the Asokoro General Hospital yesterday in Abuja.

You are 100% correct.
I do tell people that the population of Hausa people in SW is more than that if Igbo people. But the issue is that Igbos have been integrated with inter tribal marriage with Yorubas which has made them part of us until recently. But an Hausa man will still go back to his town to bring his wife here.
Hausas are more than Igbos in South West but Igbos are more integrated due to Marriage and Education.
The fact is that there are more Yorubas in the North like Kwara, Kogi, Nigeria, Nasarawa, Kano and Kaduna than Igbos but Igbos dey always cause trouble which makes them popular and gives them the wrong impression that they are many.
