Mujtahida:
The value we place on basketball is not the same as football. Even in football, the value varies. Basketball is a niche sport in Nigeria. It does not command the mass appeal of football.

And this Falcons own was based on the iconic significance of the win.

Whatever the case, it is entirely within the prerogative of the President to gift them money and national honors.

Maybe we will learn a thing or two about what such motivation means to our sport men and women who often get nothing better than presidential handshake.
I'm all for honor and glorifying those who fly our flag high. It's the least we can do for ourselves as a people. No one will do it for us.

The metric for such honor is subjective as you have rightly pointed out. Yet, we must forewarn ourselves because achievements can be repeated. There is risk of the expectation to either match or surpass that honor, which if not met will only brew envy.

Go speak to the US or Canadian Women's national soccer team. Perceived value trumps accolades. Honestly speaking, how big is D'Tigress as a brand in Nigeria? How many of our media houses are even covering them? How many Nigerians even know that we have a women's basketball program?
The president has mentioned them and that’s enough coverage

You're only buttressing the point of selectively honoring.

I could ask the same about women's football in Nigeria. This win is popular because of the drama of the final. Don't talk like women's football is in national consciousness.

Finally, your examples don't follow too. The point is not salaries. It is honor

Discrimination is a difficult concept to explain to Nigerians because our nation by design encourages discrimination. In a country like the US where citizens are expected to be treated equally you can't do this.

It's why funding for sports even for national teams don't come from government. Federations are expected to sort out their own funding from partners and sponsors so your rewards as an athlete is determined by how much funding your sports association gets. If the President of the US does this for example for one sports, he is by law expected to do same for every other sports cause not doing so would be discrimination.

Ademola Lookman Expresses Frustration over Atalanta's Block on his Transfer

NB:

For those who constantly tied Osimhen's transfer struggles to attitude, I hope you now see how ridiculous your stance were. Victor didn't even do a public post as frustrating and inciting as the process were. And if you don't still think your stance is ridiculous, at least be consistent and hold Lookman to the same standard.

We can agree to disagree. Considering D'Tigress track record, your point in honor is valid. Hopefully the girls will be honored accordingly.

Is Galatasaray Togo? Does Togo have players? Do countries sign players? Those countries you mentioned don't have quality players, that is why they can't win it, or do you think if Argentina's squad wear the Libyan jersey and use the Libyan flag they won't go far in the World Cup? Do you know club football is not national team football? Your team is only as good as the quality of your players and signings over time.

If Galatasaray's probability to win the Champions League two seasons ago was 20%, do you think it'll still be 20% now? With the signings they made? Has the Club World Cup not even taught anybody anything here?

Make una no dey talk things to just suit una agenda. If you don't like the move, you don't like it, no be all these amateurish takes on football wey all of us dey watch for here.
well on point

Ademola Lookman's statistics 🆚 Jack Grealish

Ademola Lookman's stats in 3 years annihilates Grealish's stats in 4 years. But Grealish earns €18M per year and Ademola Lookman currently earns €1.8M net per year at Atalanta. 😂 Inter Milan are now proposing €3.6M net.

African Player of the Year o. I'm so pissed ahswearughad. I just dey do statistics of all the current left wingers in the world so far and not up to 4 are better than Lookman. But he's earning like an academy player.

Let's see how the saga goes, make he first even comot for this Atalanta, make person know what next.

I'm interested in this law oo. So if Trump gives 10k to one sport, he must give 10k to all the sports? Do all government workers in the US earn the same amount of money across all occupations?

Nah nothing for CHAN. DTigress and Super falcons are the most successful Nigerian teams by a mile and even at world competitions, they alone have made it to the quarterfinals.

I just dey look how all these white players dey sign for big clubs, get bumper salaries, e reach Lookman turn inter dey offer am peanuts.

Them say Osimhen wages too high. Lookman is better than every single winger in that Serie A, the most expensive winger amongst them all by market value, but he's almost the lowest in earnings.

Florian Wirtz, boom 6M to 12M
Ekitike, boom, 3M to 10M
Gyökeres, boom 2M to 10M
Lookman, boom 1.8M to 3.6M

With those crazy numbers! We need to do better abeg. We are being bullied but we no wan gree say na wetin dey happen be that.
