Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has issued a stern warning to Rauf Aregbesola, Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), over his recent political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a fiery tweet, Onanuga accused the former Interior Minister of betrayal, reminding him that Tinubu was responsible for his rise from a “struggling party man” to commissioner in Lagos and later governor of Osun State.

Onanuga described Aregbesola’s current alliance with opposition forces as “perfidy”, insisting that anyone who turns against the president at this critical time would face consequences.

He said no politician could “repay good with evil and get away with it,” warning that Tinubu’s camp would not fold its arms while former loyalists attempted to undermine the political structure that brought them to prominence.



Aregbesola, once a key ally and political protégé of Tinubu, recently collapsed his Omoluabi Progressives bloc into the ADC, where he now serves as Interim National Secretary — a move widely interpreted as positioning himself against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the build-up to 2027.

His defection has unsettled Tinubu loyalists, who view it as an act of disloyalty from a man once considered part of the president’s inner circle.

Only in your biased eyes is Aregbe "doing serious damage". This is someone ostracised by most Yoruba politico-intelligentsia class. Difference is they don't speak their mind openly as fiery Onanuga does.

It is not in public, for people like you to see, Aregbe is being punished. He is a pariah who is of course finished in the politics of the SW because only dishonorable people , which most Yoruba leaders are not, who will side with dishonorable people because they too are capable of and supportive of what Aregbe did against who Nigerians term "destiny helper".

It is the reason you, for example, supported Atiku, a Fulani, to replace another Fulani (Buhari) who had just finished two terms of 8 years as President so Fulanis could have a possible 16 years unbroken stint in power as if, of over 400 ethnic groups of Nigeria, our nation is about them alone.

It is the same support for treachery, and lack of honour, now pushing some , like Malami, etal to back Atiku to contest again in 2023. When you see Northerners backing Atiku, you are looking at treacherous and disnonorable Northerners.
