BankyGee:Lookman should cut his salary and play for Inter. His salary is the problem. Once he reduces it, Real Madrid will come for him. |

The naysayers have got nothing to say despite their unfounded claims against Osimhen, look at how the Current APOTY is being treated for a player that had always give his best. From his league performance to his goals in the Europa League which included an hat trick masterclass against high flying Leverkusen with an unbeaten record in the final. What did Luku do wrong? If you say Osimhen was cause of a disrespect to coach or his village people or him listening to Yes-men, what do you have to say of Lookman travails? BankyGee: |

🦅 #Besiktas are pushing to sign Wilfred #Ndidi. An offer has been made to the player and to Leicester. An agreement between the clubs is in place, but Ndidi has yet to make a decision and is still hesitating. The 28 y/o defensive midfielder has also received enquiries from Bundesliga clubs. @SkySportDE 🇳🇬 |

Odunayaw:Make we just dey look. I go soon know whether he know him worth or not. Only that hat-trick for Europa League final dey enough to give am x4 of this €1.8m wey he dey earn. You give those kind of performances to increase your value, not decrease it or remain at one spot. If na one English player run that thing now, them go don turn am to god. Even Højlund earns €2.7m net and €5m gross. Only Lookman assists plenty pass Højlund entire goal contributions this season for Premier League. Imagine if Højlund has done Lookman's numbers for 3 seasons consistently, na beg dem go dey use offer am €8m or €10m. Make we sha dey look still. |

Mujtahida:Baba, if you're interested in having a conversation then I'll be here to engage. Your retort doesn't even make logical sense na. Difference in renumeration is determined by objective factors like experience, qualifications and other requirements specific to said roles. That's totally different from the conversation being had. Discrimination in the work place will be if two persons working the same role are compensated differently for subjective factors such as gender, sexual preferences, religious persuasion, race etc. To your point, if Trump gives 10k to one sports, by law he has set a precedence that he must follow for other sports. Should he decide to lower or increase said gift, he must by law justify why that is. The difference in valuation or perception by the populace won't fly in court which was my initial argument. |

lovewins:"If the President of the US does this for example for one sports, he is by law expected to do same for every other sports cause not doing so would be discrimination." I don't understand how my drawing practical implication of discrimination as per difference in remuneration is illogical when it is the kernel of the issue at stake in our discussion in relation to the falcons and D'tigress. It's that law I'm interested in. What's the name of the law? And please note that you set the premise oo. You are the one who mentioned that by law, the American president is mandated to do the same thing for all sports if be does for one sport oo. So kindly mention that law. Name of the law, and the relevant section and possible judicial interpretation will be of great help. I'm genuinely interested |

Mujtahida:Ok. Let me clarify. He is not obligated by law to reward athletes. He's however mandated by law not to discriminate. That's the bone of contention here. You can do a Google search on discrimination laws as there are many of them. Title IX is an example of anti discrimination legislation. I'll give a more recent example. The US women's soccer team took the football association to court demanding equal treatment with the guys. This doesn't fall under the same umbrella in my opinion as pay for athletes by associations are generally determined by revenue generated. For example, the winner of the 2024 AFCON took home 7 million dollars while the winner of WAFCON took home $1M dollars. Both teams business why won't be taking home the same pay and the reasons are obvious. Same applies to football in the US and I sincerely felt the association would have won. The ladies however leveraged on media and public pressure to get a settlement recently. Forthwith they'll be treated same as the guys as they agreed to pool revenue together and negotiated under the same collective bargaining agreement even though they differ in revenue generation. Now this is a case the association can easily win in court because by definition they aren't discriminating, but had to settle because of the appearance of discrimination, how much more the government (in BAT's case) who is actively discriminating. So in Court BAT will have to justify the disparity in reward. All of the reasons given by everybody so far falls under discrimination. Tennis is another example, men and women used to be paid different rewards before a fight for equality evened it out. The argument for difference in revenue couldn't be made because same audience watched both the men and the women's game. You can research the advocacy of Billy Jean King on this matter. I can cite several other examples but this is already too long. |

lovewins:In the context of rewarding sportmen, I don't know how you reached the conclusion as per the bolded unless you are speaking generally. Such a case cannot fly in court here. There is simply no legal grounds for it. It is not justiciable. And I think you are comparing apples and oranges as regards Nigeria and the US. The issue in America is remuneration. That is not what we are talking about here. It's a largesse from the President. More like a matter of prerogative or discretion. It's like the prerogative of mercy that the president exercises over criminals. He can decide to release A and not B. |
