In all seriousness though, the recent success of the Super Falcons and D'Tigresses, if nothing else, should serve as motivation for the Super Eagles for the upcoming AFCON and remaining WC qualifying games. They need to capitalize on the momentum and deliver their very best.

Senegal finished runner-up in the 2019 AFCON and came home with the trophy the next edition (2021). Hopefully it will be the same for us (runner-up 2023, winners 2025).

Napoli and Athletico Madrid are even offering more than Atalanta but he wants Inter Millan.

Maybe he is thinking of winning UEFA champions league.

In the context of rewarding sportmen, I don't know how you reached the conclusion as per the bolded unless you are speaking generally.

Such a case cannot fly in court here. There is simply no legal grounds for it. It is not justiciable.

And I think you are comparing apples and oranges as regards Nigeria and the US. The issue in America is remuneration. That is not what we are talking about here. It's a largesse from the President. More like a matter of prerogative or discretion.

It's like the prerogative of mercy that the president exercises over criminals. He can decide to release A and not B.
Your argument is now premised on the initial point I made which makes the entire back and forth unnecessary. I said "Discrimination is a difficult concept to explain to Nigerians because our nation by design encourages discrimination"

I already conceded that we by design encourage discrimination and so may find it difficult a concept to appreciate which is exactly what's happening here. It's why the president can lopsided political appointments that favours his ethnic leaning and the next person is just waiting for an opportunity to get into power to do his own. So I don't disagree when you say "such a case cannot fly in court here" cause of course it won't but not for lack of merit.

Let me just say this conclusively, Presidents aren't kings who can do as they like. The authority of their office is back by a document called the constitution which sets the guardrails for the extent of their authority. So comparing presidential pardons which has constitutional backing to rewards that do not is faulty thinking in my opinion. If the President by his prerogative pardons someone, he's doing so because by the constitution he is allowed that latitude. So he isn't acting outside of ambit if his authority. So a President can for instance grant presidential pardon to only those of his ethnic background and he is protected by law to do so. It is why every president by law also selects a minister from every state because the constitution mandates it. So a president can detest a region of the country but must by law select ministers from said region. The framers intended for this provision to give some semblance of equality and protect against discrimination.

Giving financial rewards to athletes however isn't. There's no provision for subjective spending by the executive in our laws, It's why we have a budget. You also have to research when gifting athletes money started. It was during the military era when the head of state was a law to himself. So this culture was borrowed from a system of government that allowed for that latitude. Right now, doing so without guardrails is discriminatory. The fact that one may be able to get judgment on this in a Nigerian courts doesn't make it any less discriminatory.

These CHAN boys will disrupt our championship winning momentum. I hope I'm wrong but maybe a poor performance will serve to open eyes and direct attention to our poor domestic league

Yes prerogative of mercy is a constitutional right which giving of largesse is not. Point is that he's flouted no law in exercising his power as a president in this direction. It is not a matter of law but entirely up to his discretion. Certain positions command certain perquisites. This is known all over the world. This is unlike appointments and that too is limited to ministerial appointments.

Your point is that if he doesn't do the same thing for the D'Tigress, it is discrimination. I disagree. He's not acting from a place of legal obligation. He's entirely free to exercise his choice of gifting the players and honoring them.

If not has he discriminated against you by not awarding you OON or any of the other national honors when perhaps you have achieved more than many people who have been awarded?

I have an idea:
FIFA can organize an intercontinental champions cup.

Say five teams each from all the continental federations constituted of the best players from the different countries in each federation.

E go too sweet.
