princepee:This is not just a day's rain, it's nonstop heavy rain for almost 18 hours. I don't think there's any part of Lagos that did not experience it, even parts of neighbouring Ogun State. It's like all the rain that didn't fall in July decided to fall within 2 days in August. I'm shocked that the power got restored before the rain stopped completely. |

Open gutter filled with dirts or roads without no drainage system at all. But in all honesty, Lagos state and many other states in Nigeria really need to prioritize a well functioning drainage system. Flood happens but surely can be managed. |

Osebanjo:Almost everywhere of the world, if rain falls continuously for 18 hours, it will flood. Water will find its way and there isn't any drainage you can build to evacuate that amount of water which is why it is called a flash flood. When the rain stops, the water will go down. It is normal |

Mynd44:I know bro. All the same we have poor drainage system in Nigeria. |

Just look at the reckless manner the buildings were erected in that area...! No single consideration for flood control or adequate drainage routes. Please, where exactly is the flood water supposed to go to?!! I remember how citizens challenged and insulted Oshiomhole when he was governor and told them that several buildings had to go in order to control flood. Government from national down to state needs to take town planning and drainage control more seriously... They should be ruthless about it too. Most Nigerians are just anyhow people, cutting corners and later coming to blame the leaders. As if rain or flood water is expected to magically vanish into thin air. |

The rains were very serious and intense these few days so I'm not surprised some places in Lagos are experiencing floods ![]() |

This is our collective fault. We block drainages with our indiscriminate dumping of refuse almost everywhere. We are the culprits! |

I thought Lagos announced that there's a water pump to dispose of flood water ? Why 🤣 wasn't it put to work ? Bad planning, poor regulations, poor governance and profiteering over administration will always bring similar results. Expect more flooding. Secondly, this preoccupation with Lekki and environs after Victoria Island will kill some people. 😂 There are other places in Nigeria, but you chose to live in a place where you will be at the mercy of excess water and bad governance every rainy season and you expect sympathy. 😂😂😂 That Nigerian follow follow mentality will show you guys pepper this season. 🤦🏾♂️🤣 |

dominique:And so what? Rain does fall more than 18 hours in other places southwest and no flooding. Just accept that Lagos is overrated and lack proper drainage infrastructure |

Mynd44:I feel you, but truth be told, Lagos is overbuilt. Many parts of Lagos shouldn't have houses on them at all. The kind of flooding I saw in that video tells me very clearly that the area is an obvious flood plain and shouldn't have been developed. |
