A Nollywood Director in Malaysia,Ifeanyi Johnpaul Aguonu was sentenced to 10 strokes of cane and 15 years in jail for drug possession.

A Nigerian movie director was on Thursday given 15-years jail term after Malaysian authorities arrested him with 2.4kg of methamphetamines in his possession.

Ifeanyi Johnpaul Aguonu,38,was also slapped with 10 strokes of the cane for the offence of bringing the drugs into the country in March 2011.

High court Justice Abdul Alim Abdullah expressed concern that many Nigerians had entered Malaysia with drugs without fear of the law.

"Our Country has a strict rule when it comes to drugs,that the law provides a death penalty for drug trafficking.If you are convicted with a capital offence here,you could have been hung from the neck until you die,"the judge said before sentencing Aguonu.

"But you've been saved from the gallows because your counsel sent a representation and the Attorney-General Chambers agreed to give you an alternate charge,"he said

Well.... justice was served! I just hope that he has a change of mind even in prison and when he comes out thereby righting his wrong!

The problem is people dint listen, everyone knows that Malaysia is strict on drugs and people still go there just for quick money and endangering their lives. I fill no pity for this kind of people cos they are aware b4 embarking on the journey. He should go and tank his stars he got only 15years

Thats a country that implements law. Why can't these Nigerians stay clear of the illegal job, already giving good Nigerians bad names as drug pushers. Smh.

when people at family meetings and at tribal community meetings are not talked to on the evil people with similar cultures commit and are not advised on how to live as contented humans things such as this will always be heard of. And unfortunately this virus is spreading quickly to other parts of the country.

Also, whenever people who try to say the truth and advise people on how they behave/should live have their comment hidden all the time, the people whom the comments are addressed to will think what they are doing is not wrong.

really?? so with the amount of cases similar to this it is now it is just getting ''worrisome''?
please if you attend tribal/clan meetings tell the elders to start addressing the issue of drug trafficking and other evil/bad things.

My Igbo aunty that lived in the US for 10 years said Igbos usually have meetings(she lived in Texas)
