That's true because is still not huge in terms of ideal standard but a great pay in average Nigerian condition. Many Nigerians earn 50k or less, millions of Nigerians earn 100k or less.More millions of Nigerians earn 200k or less so his own still better paywise.

U don't need to know how to swim to work off shore. U only require survival at sea skills which U obtain when u undergo T.B.O.S.I.E.T from any certified safety institution. Work safe!

No oil or offshore mostly in water terrain, that would employ one, without swimming training, not sure about this ur job ooh if e be true or cruise

I do not think there is any truth to his story

Swimming is technically not a prerequisite for offshore jobs. Take your survival at sea and bosiet seriously. Know how to and when to put on your life jacket and how to stay afloat with it. In the sea swimming may not really be of much help except you work in a swamp.

The Occupational Health and Safety Management System of your company is questionable. You should have gone through BOSIET before you're even allowed to sign your employment letter. I am surprised you're working without the adequate training.

He cant be earning that low in a junior area of specialization. It is either he'sdoing unskilled labour or working as one of the deckhands for the marine vessel contractor and not eith the msin oil and gas production company. And it is most definitely as a contract staff seconded to that location

Interesting! You seem to be new offshore. There's no offshore facility that doesn't provide you with at least two life jackets per individual, one in your cabin and the other at your lifeboat station.

How did you get offshore without a BOSIET? If you had done one you wouldn't be typing this. More like you are trying to get attention from those who don't know requirement to go offshore.

It's not about swimming.
How did you get a job offshore without requisite training and certification, we have a way of turning everything on it's head in this country or how can it be explained that you got a job offshore with either HUET or BOSIET certificate........it's actually not about swimming but bring able to execute floatation drills until you can br rescued. If you were employed through a subcontractor, the sub can actually lose the contract as it's a violation deploying someone without the training and certification.
