If not for insecurity, Nigeria is so rich already. smiley

Instead of monitorng banks accounts, the government or FIRS should monitor insecurity.

Bandits impose taxes, drive people away from their lands, which contributes to a massive loss in revenues.

I was talking about someone buyinga brand new 2026 car on one thread 2 days ago . It's the same guy. He's not up to 2 years in Canada that he bought the car.

At least his job is paying reasonably
Bought a car in n Canada or leased (the fancy word is finance) a car in Canada because I know he can’t afford to pay 45K.

A young man is in grief over 40 million naira - bad investment, and you’re capping sideways about what could have been. Imagine, his parents where very well to do going by there sheer numbers of paupers in this country. Go to the treasury bills section of Nairaland they will tell you how to invest 40 million and still have it.

Canada wey America wan annex, even the America sef is battling for economic growth shamelessly.

You japa go Canada to go and do 9 - 5 jobs.

Instead of you to go to a trade school , get certified and join union.

Learn trades like HVAC , plumbing and electrician, blue collar jobs are hot cake and in hot demand.

I no sabi who Dey give una mu…mu information to go abroad and start doing 9 - 5 desk job.

U better go and get recession proof skills , that’s the way to survive first world countries

After I graduated from LASU in Lagos, I went back to Enugu to learn fashion deigning profession, after few years I returned back to Lagos but the most annoying thing is that I could not see a good fashion firm to get me employed, but one of my cousins whom I used to sew for told me I would be needed in Canada and I would make more money from what I am doing
no mention of what he read in lasu

he then went to enugu to learn fashion design
then he came to lagos to look for employment in a fashion firm
then he was told that fashion designers are in demand in canada

if this is not some clout farming slop, the guy has his own problem
you just enter canada and start fashion designing - just like that?

From frying pan to fire. I suppose Canadians will treat you better than Nigeria.

What a devoted slave.

Blame your travelling agent. Better agents won't just help you to process your visa, they would also link you with job .

I have a friend who relocated to Canada like a year plus or 2 now, he was first on government payment for like 6 months before securing a job

One AI generated video about unemployment in UK. They asked the guy about the unemployment in the country, his response was the immigrants are taking our jobs, then the presenter asked him,

What qualifications do you have to secured a decent job

His response: The immigrants are taking that too

That was really very funny
Which job? Any agent that tells you he will get you a job along with your visa to Canada is very likely a fraud.
If you aren't using an immigration consultant or an Immigration lawyer, just be hopeful you don't get scammed.
Your friend that got paid by government probably seek asylum in Canada, government will not pay you a dime for immigrating to their country.
Lastly, don't use student route to come to Canada, it's just a means to suffer. If you cant get your PR don't bother moving to Canada

What majority of people always forget is, everywhere is an abroad. The place you are running to, people are suffering there too.

If you don't have a good degree to earn you a decent job, have a skill or self employed ( work at home), travelling to abroad might end up in regret

That monthly bills can make you go gaga
My monthly bill is 5000. That includes my mortgage of 2350.
Luckily my car is paid off. That would have been an additional 1000.

Unnecessary lamentations..

Just enjoy your Canada..
Don’t mind him. Canada is literally free for immigrants ans non immigrants. If you don’t have a job yet, government pays $15,000 dollars per month (that’s around 20million naira per month), yet this this is not enough? Free housing, free tuition, free foods, free ride to anywhere, and as a matter of fact they pay close to $2,000 per month if u are sick just to buy medication. Nigerian are not contented yet

It's not easy to get into trade school. You need someone to sign you on as apprentice. That is were the difficulty is. It's filled with nepotism. Oyinbo sef wants their kids to do trade.

For an apprenticeship program. For 10 positions, 1000 people could apply.

Canada is filled with Indians, they have taken all the job spots, go to any supermarket you will see them there, as an african you have very slim chance of getting a job.
Lol... Why should any serious human being be aiming to enter Canada or any top nation just to settle for minimum wage employment with Indians?!!

Before thinking of boarding any plane out of this nation, you ought to have certifications and mad skills under your belt.

Language skills will also go a long way.

Do you know learning French as a second language already puts you even ahead of top professionals in the Canada Job market?!! Research this!

Especially government work... Bilingual people are literally being begged to come and live and work in key Canadian provinces.

If you are in regulated career e.g nursing, medicine, pharmacy, engineering, law, medical lab e.t.c, you can't escape that minimum wage for a while.

It's not easy to break into those profession. It can take around 1 to 15 years or even never. Depending on opportunity and luck.

You don’t necessarily have to go to trade school, you can search top ranking HVAC companies in US, walk in and tell them you want to become an apprentice… they will hire you and you make $15 - 17 per hour.

After a year plus , you must have learnt the rudiments, start buying tools gradually, get certified with EPA licenses.

Do commercial , residential or industrial HVAC and make bloody money in 5+ years.

Interesting.

At current interest rates - he would be earning 773 000 to just under 1 million naira per month in interest on the Nigeria money market. Significantly more in an equity fund.

He could also significantly leverage those funds without impairing his capital.

Interesting choice.

Yes, but that's not a bad thing... Since it's for a while.

Besides, none of those medical professionals come in via Student route... They are the main people that come in as Permanent Residents, except they don't know what they are doing.

PR status is no joke at all! That's the biggest goldmine.

Yeah. 8 years is the maximum a lender will give you. If they extend to 10 years, that means the person is in collections and the credit is bad.
