The management of Warere Beach Hotel in Zanzibar, Tanzania has reacted to claims made by Nigerian tourist, Zainab Oladeinde, that she was robbed and almost raped while on vacation at the beach last year, IGBERETV reports.

Zainab in a Twitter thread posted on Saturday said she arrived in Zanzibar on Saturday, April 16, 2021, for her birthday celebration on April 18. Zainab, who traveled alone, alleged that in the wee hours of April 18, an unidentified man snuck into her room and tried to rape her. She said over $1000 was also stolen from her. Ms Zainab also alleged that the Zanzibar authorities did next to nothing to help her as they accused her of lying.

In a statement released on Sunday 17th April, 2022, the management of the hotel said when the incident happened, it filed a report before the police. The management says the police report indicated that Miss Zainab's case was a personal one and was not a result of negligence on the part of the hotel.

"We are saddened that we must post this.

Our Warere website was hacked, today 16 April 2022. Simultaneously, we were inundated by a massive release of defamatory reviews and messages through many different social media platforms regarding accusations of sexual assault at our property. Within 3 hours we received over 4,000 negative reviews on Google from people who had never stayed at our hotel.

As a woman-owned and operated business, the Warere takes guest safety and the safety of single women travelers extremely seriously, as evidenced by 6 years of verified positive reviews from women all over the world.

We tried our best to support Ms Zainab Oladehinde as soon as we learned of the accusations. We immediately brought her to the police and offered her support. The case was brought before Government authorities in April 2021 when it occurred. The police report indicated that this was a personal case, and not negligence on the part of the Warere.

After passing by the Zanzibar Nungwi police, the District Commissioners Office, the Regional Commissioners Office and the office of the Second Vice President of the govt of Zanzibar, Ms. Zainab declined to take the case further. Ms Zainab Oladehinde was informed that the hotel would abide by damages rewarded by the court system of Zanzibar.

We will continue to serve our guests from all corners of the world with the same level of hospitality and excellence that we have become known for throughout Zanzibar over the past six years."

The Zanzibar Commission of Tourism also released a statement regretting the unfortunate incident and that an investigation has since been launched.

Next time they will take a Nigerian complaint seriously. If not, a nuclear bomb will land in their country.

A case of 2021 and this is what their PR can put forward. You don't attack the victim. Even if she demande for money. You accept, apologies for face value, inform the authorities of your position and earlier outcome. They will invite her and things settled amicably. This is business and not family issue.

Now, the country has been stigmatized. The hotel rating has gone to 1star. The country tourism sector will be affected, job losses imminent and Warere Beach Hotel may not exist. Who is at loss?

See how you are confidently defending an incident you were not a witness to. You are quoting her own statement as the honest to God truth.
An advice to you is don't jump into conclusion hearing from only one side, you are bound to make error in judgment. Always keep an open mind until you hear from every side.

My family run away from Congo war and settled in Tanzania since 1997.
Since then TZ has been our lovely home as along the way we were granted full citizenship, we had open opportunity to return back but we declined.
Nigerians should be careful, especially when dealing with other African countries.
It's not a good thing to say but even South Africans are not dealing with Nigerians for no reason.

How is an attempted rape in an hotel room by a supposed staff a personal issue.

They are even claiming the guy is not their staff but that of the security company, who will now take responsibility? The hotel or the security company?

Is the hotel not responsible for whoever they allow to get access to their property.

Nigerians need to be very careful with these other African countries especially those of East Africa.Their police will attempt to extort you and dont get me started on the people...its best to stay professional with them at all times and keep everything recorded. They are moat likely revording you too anyway. Be smart and play safe always.You may need it

Theres like an institutional hate against Nigerians going on there.Nigerians are not safe with those people.Either in carrear and definately not solitary travel.

Theres this unhealthy rivalry against Nigerians who are absolutely unaware of this at first till the harm has been done.Its sad that its spilling onto the next generation and we definately cant let them go into an ambush such as this one unprepared. They did not even apologize, they keep blaming her.
Whether deals gone wrong or not it's still a case of attempted rape.

The hotel owner only care about the negative comments on Google.

The lady too quickly accepting $10,000 compensation is even too fast and lowly.
