i have friends in medicine engineering, accounting, logistics, software development in canada

but they all had actual careers and work experience

and they sorted out their jobs before moving

you don't japa to a first world country without proper white collar work experience
What year did the last person move, Canadians with years of experience are complaining a foreign skilled person will now get the job.
Most of the jobs secured before traveling are either multinational companies like deloitte, Google, Mobil and co. Other jobs are based on connection, your relative own the company or is a top executive in the company.
Canada does not value foreign experience unlike USA or UK. Don't deceive yourself.

Tell them, brother! They don't know these simple and true facts!

While they are there grandstanding and looking for cheap minimum wage employment, truck driving licensed guys are getting mad money.
I’m telling you , I don’t know why most Nigerians are obsessed with white collar jobs when you can earn twice or more in blue collar trades.

I keep telling people , if you ever get Into the US , please just go and learn a blue collar trade via apprenticeship. You even get paid $15 - 17 while starting out… just focus on grabbi the damn skill, the money will come in about 3 - 5 years… it’s a process not a get rich quick scheme.

Elevator mechanics are grossing over 200K USD per annum.. you hardly see Nigerians doing blue collar jobs , you wan do big man Dey siddon ontop desk and wearing suit , meanwhile shi shi no Dey your pocket,

A lot also come in via student route though.
Well, Canada, Australia, and certainly other nations have a high demand for medical professionals especially doctors and nurses.

Anyone in these fields has no business going in through student route.

Your colleagues will be shocked and even laugh at you for being that desperate and uninformed.

You are correct. The only person I know that was able to make such move works as a sales director for GE in Nigeria.
I hear people working in unregulated profession with Deloitte, PwC, KPMG e.t.c have also been able to make such move.

My friend that works for schlum and a few GE guys I know still had to start all over again because they were a geophysicist and engineers respectively i.e. Regulated professions.

Because you study nursing, medicine, pharmacy e.t.c doesn't mean you will get or over others that studied say history or philosophy. This used to be the case when I immigrated in 2010.

But now it's all about getting high scores in IELTS and being young image. Higher education like Msc or PhD also helps.

I can't speak for Australia though.

This world na chance and luck and a sprinkle of brilliance. The most successful guy in my graduating set at OAU never left Nigeria until he became rich enough to set up a office in the UK.. He is now a billionaire. He studied mechanical engineering at OAU but now the co-owner of moniepoint.

The 2nd most successful I know had to Japa to make it. He founded an engineering firm in the UK.

Guy, let's not go back and forth on this...!

Canada has a nomination stream and quota for PR via Express Entry and Provincial nominations every single year.

Medical professionals top that list consistently.

You will hardly see Doctor, nurse or pharmacist in Canada today that didn't get an instant PR when coming in.

The guy in this story is not serious. He can feed and pay rent but despises the jobs that provide because it is not office job.

Let talk bro

OChimex:
The unemployment in the US is not as a result of lack of jobs, it's as a result of people being lazy, taking advantage of unemployment benefits from the govt, and people being selective with jobs. In the US, every company is hiring every day.
Again, the guy in Canada is a cat who thinks moving to Canada that he will become a lion...no way.
Their system is developed for smart individuals. Not for dunce.
But I will tell you for free that you can go from. Zero to making over $150k a year in the US within 3 years....

Yeah. He will surely feed. There are food banks.
But if he blew that 45m, no way he can pay rent.
I am guessing he came in via visit visa and overstayed hence becoming illegal. This is becoming common nowadays.

If he came in through PR, he could at least get a minimum wage job.

There are lots of jobs in the USA. I was in Atlanta last week. One has to be really lazy not to get a job in the US. The US is one monster of a country, but Canada is an entirely different story.
Bills are lower, taxes are lower and professional salaries are higher in the US too.

This story seems fabricated to collaborate with the negatives of the Nigerian nation!
If actually it's true, then the said Chukwudi just wasted his parents money and time in sending him to school and at the same time, learning fashion design!
He's just impatient at making it in life, he wants to live a larger than thou life!
Same Nigeria that is not good, is churning out some bastard billionaires in same industry!

that's a sure travel agent. You are on point here. Even the #45m he used to process the visa is very much. I'm hopeful the stranded brother will get a tangible job.
No where did the lamenter said he used the whooping sum of #45m to process his visa.

After the passing of his father, he made the difficult decision to sell the family home, a beloved residence filled with memories, for a significant sum of ₦45 million.

This money was intended to serve as a foundation for a fresh start in Canada, a country he believed held greater opportunities for his future.

Can't you sense the arrogance and the laziness in his tone?

He learnt tailoring and was looking for a company to employ him!

Within a month of being jobless in Cana, the first thing would have been to get a machine for his trade and court the Nigerian community but na lie .......

Bros, you didn't make a mistake in anyway. You can make the N45M within few weeks when things stablize for you. This is just a phase and it will eventually pass away.
I was there 3 years ago and today, I am happy that I made the tough decision of leaving my multinational job to abroad.
Today, I am gainfully employed by a bigger multinational company with a perk benefit of a 2025 brand new official car.

Your story will soon change.

True. It's freaking expensive to sew clothes here. That would have been a cash cow for him.

A Naija guy barbs hair on the next street. He is so booked that it's hard getting an appointment to Barb hair. For adult, 30 dollars. For kids 25 dollars. He has converted his basement to a barber shop. This means he is making more than 1500 dollars per month which is what he would have made if he rented same basement out.

At today's exchange rate of 1,500 naira to the US dollar, 45 million naira is just $27K USD, which is only enough to rent an apartment for less than a year, leaving the costs of food, transport, electricity, gas and water unpaid.

If he had papers, that's plenty money to start life with. But I am guessing he came in via visit and decided to overstay thereby becoming an illegal immigrant.

Even with his unemployment status in Canada, I will still advise him never to relocate back to Nigeria. Hence, we'll hear he has committed suicide. Canada is still far more better than Nigeria current situation. With time he will be employed.
