Whether you have a Job or not abroad, the minimum cost of living is $1500/month at the very least.

Can you survive, if it takes you 1 year to get a Job ?

Dont forget, America,UK, Canada have unemployed people.....they have their own citizens looking for jobs.
The average weekly pay for an Average Wage in the United States is $1,522 a week. So still not bad if u have a decent job.

As a young Nigerian, if you don't have a skill or craft in nigeria that you've developed or built..... traveling outside the country will be very difficult.

You can't be lazy in Nigeria while hoping that you can easily be feeding fat in another man's country by sleeping an snoring.
Are Nigerians lazy? Nigerians are one of the most hardworking people on earth. Only in Nigeria a graduate will be doing bricklaying work, doing okada, being a boss conductor etc and u call them lazy? Come on.

Brother please note that this job u are talking about takes years to complete.

First u should ask which visa him take enter..
For example in uk here most came with 1 year student visa or two years most n it's through school. U wont leave classes to learn apprenticeshi more also the system won't allow u.

It's only when u are settled then u can think that area
Where did I state that it takes 2 weeks or less to be proficient in the skill or trade ?!

I never mentioned the UK. United States of America was the POV.

Read to understand , not comment.

Canada is not as bad as that.. If you relocated to Canada, firstly what is the Visa u are holding? I relocated to Canada with my family in 2018 as a PR and now a Canadian Citizen. So my question is what was your status at the point of landing in Canada? Do you mind changing your Career. I changed my Career while in Canada and went to do a Certification course. And i have been working with it since 2019. You can not come to Canada with a VV and you expect to get a good job. Bro if your hand work is like Plumbing, Mechanic or Electrician that can help you in Canada not Tailoring. Someone like me i still Sew my Native wears from Nigeria. smiley and i am sure many people does that. Bro! take your tailoring to Europe and not Canada. I wish u all the best so you can start sending money to your Dad that invested in you. PELE!!

Before you know, he go start to thief or sell drugs.
Exactly. One illegality or the other. If it works for him people here will be saying he bought shopping plaza within one year of Canada. If it doesn't work, nobody here will see or remember it. People only see people it worked for, encouraging more desperation for japa. And the cycle continues!😆

The unemployment in the US is not as a result of lack of jobs, it's as a result of people being lazy, taking advantage of unemployment benefits from the govt, and people being selective with jobs. In the US, every company is hiring every day .
Again, the guy in Canada is a cat who thinks moving to Canada that he will become a lion...no way.
Their system is developed for smart individuals. Not for dunce.
But I will tell you for free that you can go from. Zero to making over $150k a year in the US within 3 years....
At the bolded, it’s a big lie.

Have you ever been to the states before?

I’m telling you , I don’t know why most Nigerians are obsessed with white collar jobs when you can earn twice or more in blue collar trades.

I keep telling people , if you ever get Into the US , please just go and learn a blue collar trade via apprenticeship. You even get paid $15 - 17 while starting out… just focus on grabbi the damn skill, the money will come in about 3 - 5 years… it’s a process not a get rich quick scheme.

Elevator mechanics are grossing over 200K USD per annum.. you hardly see Nigerians doing blue collar jobs , you wan do big man Dey siddon ontop desk and wearing suit , meanwhile shi shi no Dey your pocket,
They make it hard to get into those trades. It's like a union, a mafia. I don't think it is by choice Nigerians and indians are not into such trades

The bolded is NOT true. One thing US has excess of is food. U can say anything else (housing, employment, money) but not food

If you spend that amount of money to travel abroad, better stick it out there because there will be nothing to come back to Nigeria for except more pain and suffering
Exactly money he can recover within 6 months of working there

You Gerrit. Trades are very hard to get into. It's a man-know-man industry. I am always amused at how people just drop electrician, plumbing, e.t.c.
Even that electrician is split into 3 and non is easy to get into.
My friend that was even lucky to get into electrical trade, it took him 3 years to get enough hours to complete year 1, and he had 3 more years to go.

He just abandoned it and is now a truck driver. Here he makes lots of money as he drives back and forth between the USA and Canada. All he needed was just a class 1 licence which he still paid close to 5000 dollars for training and licensing.

We have an apprenticeship program that we open every two years at my place of work. It's 30 slots and it is always filled up by kids of current employees. Lol.

We advertise it for advertising sake. But all the positions are usually taken even before the advertisement is released to the street.
