*Let us talk about broiler birds* Broiler birds are for meat production. These birds doesn't need much heat like other birds at brooding stage and with good antibiotic drug with vitamin they will be sound at brooding stage. Feed is the most important factor to broiler birds, once they are well fed both day and night they will convert the feed to meat on their bodies, also they will be ready for slaughter from age week 6 to week 8. Let us not forget to observe anticoccidiosis drugs for them from week 2 to week 6 and feed them with quality feed for Excellent result *FOLTEM cares*

*Important note for arrival of day old broiler bird* Day 1 – Broiler Chicks Arrival & Early Management 1. Pre-heat the brooding area to 32–35°C before chicks arrive. 2. Give warm sugar water mixed with multivitamins (e.g., Vitamin+glucose) for the first 6 hours. For customers that do receive birds on every Tuesday or Friday which they are both day 2, kindly give those birds glucose and vitamin for 1 hour and afterwards add antibiotic drug to glucose and vitamin. 3. Do not give antibiotics on Day 1 (Day 1 is either every Monday or Thursday) – allow chicks to stabilize and hydrate first. 4. Provide super starter feed (13–15g per chick) using clean trays. 5. Keep 24 hours light and limit human handling. Note: Avoid giving any drugs within the first 24 hours – their intestines are fragile and need time to adjust *FOLTEM cares*

Formulated feed is good at this moment because feed material prices are down eg maize goes for ₦460 per kg, soya ₦800 per kg (Ibadan price)etc. With good formula and good feedmill that one can get *quality feed materials* , farmers will cut the cost down and maximise their profit. Note: if any farmer is not sure of the quality feed materials from a feedmill or the other, kindly stick to finished feed to avoid unwanted wahala they will be caused by bad feed. *FOLTEM cares*

Also this cold weather is a very big disadvantage to brood Local turkeys, the cold weather is killing large number of young local turkeys at this moment. I will advise we hold on till November/December to brood local poults (turkeys) and this is to avoid loss account on our business. *FOLTEM cares* |
