Trade wars have never and will never ever sustain a nations economy for a long time..its typically a temporary aid band and only brings short term gains like the supposed 3% economic gain for the US. In the long run trade wars (Tarrifs battle) always ends up deleterious for countries.

Trade is not a binary thing. Every country should diversify its trade. You need balance. Make sure your import does not outpace your export.

EU and many countries put Tarrif permanently on US goods till trump.

They keep US imports out and make US industries struggle to compete in their markets while they enjoy free trade from the US, where they bring in product cheaper than domestically made products and as a result, industries folded.
