If a governor from the SE can be dethroned and someone else who came last was enthroned, and another governor almost got rigged out if not for the personal intervention of an official, if the Edo governor was believed to be elected without the popular votes, if Rivers state is being remote controlled from Abuja and even the police and courts are being used to interfer in state activities, then the country is in a mess. Bottom-top approach works better when solving problems that started from the bottom and got to the top. In Nigeria's case, the problem started from the top and went to the bottom. If the top is fixed, all the problems you mentioned (including how small boxes grow big into a pyramid) will be resolved. We can't realistically even clean things up from the bottom when the leader says "don't clean it". The first step is getting a new leader who is ready for the mess to be gone.

Our position is simple. Let's have leadership that is committed to reforms. Once reforms happen, people will have the power to remove bad leaders. That power will force the leaders to perform in order to earn their place, and over time, accountability becomes the norm.
