The problem with nuclear energy is waste management. Other, it can be safely managed but it will take a very long time for the isotopes to decay. If they can send them to he button of the sea it would be okay. Or if they can shoot them out to space.
Yea that's a real problem. Modt t of it is stored underground I believe, some is used for armor piercing anti tank missiles.
Energy generation requires govt intervention and support.

green energy isnt a folly. Its the future.. and it will happen gradually.

Whilst fossil fuels is still pretty much relevant , conservatives should not all together discard the fact that the world would chase after green energy.. America shouldn't and wouldnt be left behind.. America should ensure a robust energy mix and not completely discard a valid energy value chain or calling it a folly.
You wouldn't believe basilico's job is solar panel installation.

They must not be painted green, so he probably doesn't think its to do with energy.

Nice piece.

This section challenged my preconception that America would survive Trump.
That’s exactly as the ancient political philosophers predicted: as democracies enter their late, chaotic stage, the people want an autocrat. They yearn for one. And in America, they voted for one twice. The forces we are up against are far beyond Trump. They’re called the cycles of history and a critical mass of the American people, who no longer want to govern themselves, who are sick of this republic and no longer want to keep it if it means sharing power with those they despise.
https://andrewsullivan.substack.com/p/the-permanent-stain-360
And another section

The tyrant’s first textbook tactic, of course, is declaring an emergency to justify the seizure of arbitrary power. Trump has now done so over 30 times in various executive orders and directives in his first seven months. Previous presidents have moved the dial of executive power, as a polarized, deadlocked Congress has surrendered more and more authority, but even John “Signing Statements” Yoo — who once argued that a US president has the right to crush the testicles of a child if he so wishes — now acknowledges that Trump has “elevated it to another level” (see AP graphic below):

And unlike, say, Putin, who capitalized on (and may well have orchestrated) an actual emergency — a terror attack — to make his first big move, Trump just declares non-existent ones real on Twitter — and presto! — they are real. He knows he doesn’t even have to bother to justify them. He rightly assumes that Americans have less resistance to bald-faced autocratic lies in 2025 than Russians did in 1999.

Trump’s mouthpiece justifies it this way: “President Trump is rightfully enlisting his emergency powers to quickly rectify four years of failure and fix the many catastrophes he inherited from Joe Biden — wide open borders, wars in Ukraine and Gaza, radical climate regulations, historic inflation, and economic and national security threats posed by trade deficits.”

Unpack that for a second. A failed previous presidency, wars fought by other countries in other countries, subsidies for green energy, 2.7 percent inflation, and a trade deficit not much different than in the past few decades: if this amounts to a “national emergency,” then an emergency is a permanent condition, and the president can rule by fiat from here on out. And so here we are: with the Congress a sad rubber-stamp to the mad king, and with the lower-court checks on him stayed by SCOTUS, which is taking its own sweet time to adjudicate.

Meanwhile, America is one-man rule. Resist and he’ll ruin you. He’ll destroy your law firm’s business; he’ll stop that corporate merger you want; he’ll put a tariff on your company; he’ll launch a DOJ investigation into you; he’ll get you fired for doing your job in government faithfully; he’ll sue you if you print something true about him; and if you’re a federal judge and rule against him, he’ll sic an online mob, and maybe a real mob, onto you. He has done all these things this year — and openly celebrated them.
...
Let’s be perfectly clear: Trump has less than zero constitutional or legal authority to do any of this. Tariffs are constitutionally the Senate’s prerogative, and are applied for reasons to do with trade and industry. For a president unilaterally to use them as a club to coerce other countries on unrelated policies — on a whim unrelated to any Congressional mandate — is an impeachable offense. And yet what were only a few years ago obviously impeachable offenses are now simply known as the Trump administration.

Same thing happened when Nigerians voted for Buhari.

My attitude then was, if the majority want him who am I to say no. My disappointment however was his 2.0 was far too watered down for my liking. I would have loved benalvino3 who wasn't alive during his 1.0, to experience 200 year prison sentences for corrupt officials, but Buhari went democratic on me, sadly.

You supported a dictator twice. It's not like you neutrally stood at the corner and watch things played out. The guy was your choice twice.

budaatum:
I think you have not read enough of what I've written and advise you go do some homework.

First, my support for bubu is support for the least worse amongst them all. Only a lazy fuq would let Atiku near the goose that lays the golden egg.

Second, anyone who's gone through enough Nigerian politicians would know they are there for their own good and will promise you heaven and earth only to get there to heaven and earth themselves.

Third, we, the people, are responsible for the leaders or rulers we elect. This is after all a democracy, or at least, the best of a democracy we have been able to create for ourselves, so take some responsibility, I say, instead of being a naive lazy fuq.

Do note! A vote for bubu is a vote for hardship, as anyone who went through bubu phase one would have told you, and only lazy fuqs would like to return to the easy food of ghanamustgoes of previous eras in a time when a barrel of oil barely covers cost. It was our money then too buying houses in New York and London and Dubai while most Nigerians were fed crumbs!
Confused and speaking from both side of his mouth

budaatum:

First, Buhari's government didn't bring hardship. The lack of investment in the "
7 years of abundance" that preceeded Buhari contributed to the 7 of famine he took over. And no, it does not sound unreasonable in context.
Budaatum supports anything that destroys.

There is nothing you can teach me about green energy.
When I have time I have go through all these in a day . **Image** below.

Lithium, cobalt etc. Go dwindle before hydrocarbon. Na nuclear fusion be the future. They should focus on Thorium
Plutonium and uranium waste is hard to manage. And thorium cannot be weaponize as well.
America needs to lead in all aspects of energy exploitation and production, not down play anyone, especially green energy.

Trump is a Temu third world leader.

Trump is implementing the play book of third world country leaders. Authoritarian..he's trying it on Americans to see if it works..its actually working to an extent, because we have thick skulled individuals who would support him regardless.

The way Tinubu took over rivers state is no different from the way Trump is militarizing states in the US or plans to.

He's already bought the Supreme court.. the senate house and senate republican leadership is no better than the Akpabio and Tajudeens led chambers in Nigeria.. all boot licking and heartless individuals..

shocked cool

america will return to hydrogen.. because the rest of the world will mature it and become masters at it.

I have attended several pipeline conferences in Berlin, and if you see the momentum hydrogen is mustering in line to compliment/replace methane gas in the future you'd be shocked.

If Americans stick to being conservative on everything they'll carry last..

EVs are good. You need fossil,or nuclear, geothermal or hydro to charge them.

Assuming you get 5 Sunlight Hours in a day .To charge a 100KW Tesla car , you need 20Kw of installed solar panels. Large panels of 500W needed are 40 occupying 1100 sq feet. Who has that space?

Also, only the US and Israel matters.

Why the afghans different from Palestinians, the afghans don't support the murderous Taliban, but the Palestinians supports the murderous Hamas

Its what budaatum and these people don't understand. The cost of energy goes up as they move to RENEWABLE ENERGY. how come something that is renewable is costing more?

Not gonna happen. Electrolysis requires a lot of energy. Not good for the environment. It's not conservatives that are holding technology back. They just know how to accept reality.

I have posted a lot about climate change here. It all started with the need to rein in and wrench power from Big oil.
Through data that they can't prove, using computer models scientists started the religion of climate change. Science is settled. A lot of funds go to research with progressives getting the bulk. Climate change became a tool to gain control. Computers process the data you give them better than human beings Give it garbage , it will spew out garbage. The turning point came when they narrowed down on Carbon Dioxide as the leading cause , largely emitted from fossil fuels.
You may not be aware but there are companies that are paid to extract CO2 and sequester it in underground storage. Total hogwash. With more CO2 you get more vegetation and more food . Greenhouses pump CO2 to hasten photosynthesis upto 2000 ppm. Yet climate experts yrlp at CO2 levels approaching 440 ppm.

The drive to move to clean , green renewable is a sinister attempt to have more govt in your life Climate passports, 15 minute cities, limiting your Carbon footprints etc. ESG took it a notch higher with companies getting access to cheaper financing if they hit high ESG scores. Ask Sri Lanka what happened when they banned fertilizers ( oil by-product) to maintain their 98/100 ESG scores. Tesla got a lower ESG score than ExxonMobil, which is just laughable as it's more about micromanaging businesses.
ExxonMobil surpassed Tesla in the 2022 S&P 500 ESG Index, prioritizing industry-relative performance.
Sustainalytics gave Tesla a better 2024 ESG score, citing lower risk than ExxonMobil.
Industry-specific metrics and exclusion of Scope 3 emissions distort ESG comparisons significantly.
Tesla’s governance and social controversies contrast ExxonMobil’s environmental efforts within its sector.
It's all a big scam to replace oil with renewables that they can control. Trump understands this perfectly well and that's one reason they hate him.
Don't confuse a cleaner pollution free environment with climate change. Internal Combustion Engines are more efficient nowadays leading to less hazardous smog . America has high standards of pollution control than other countries, but the liberals want more - Get rid of beef, use electricity in home heating ,ban fracking, ban New York coal fired pizzas ,eat lab grown meat, etc. The limit will be capping population growth.

Here we go, another Hamas terrorist killed while moonlighting as a journalist. Nateevs and Budatuum can now add this to their journalist count.

https://www.nairaland.com/8495371/five-al-jazeera-journalists-killed

The IDF Struck the Terrorist Anas Al-Sharif Who Posed as a Journalist for the Al Jazeera Network

The IDF had previously disclosed intelligence information and many documents found in the Gaza Strip, confirming his military affiliation to Hamas. The documents include personnel rosters, lists of terrorist training courses, phone directories, and salary documents for the terrorist, and provide unequivocal proof that he serves as a military terrorist in Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Here he is in a selfie with deceased Hamas leader Sinwar and Hamas leadership

With the cries about redistricting and a census count of citizens only , this makes a lot of sense . Democrats import illegal aliens in order to gain more congressional seats and turn red states purple or outright blue when the illegals become voters. Biden sold the border wall because he didn't want any hindrance to immigrants legal or not.

Biden regime took measures to force banks and financial institutions to drop Trump as a customer.

They wanted to finish him completely, Letitia case judge had a court appointed manager overseeing Trump businesses. I'm not sure if the court-appointed monitor, retired Judge Barbara Jones, is still overseeing the Trump Organization’s financial activities as of today.
