Corruption, Bad Leadership Responsible For Increasing Hunger, Poverty - Obi by fergie001(mod): 9:23am On Aug 11, 2025
In our country today, hunger and poverty are not just distant statistics, they are the harsh reality that millions of our people face daily.

Recently, the United Nations stated that about 34 million Nigerians will face acute food insecurity, and abour 63% of our population, which is about 133 million people, now live in multidimensional poverty.

Inflation even with the suppressed statistics is nearly 30%, while unemployment and economic mismanagement have nearly wiped out our once vibrant middle class.

Families who once lived stable lives are now slipping into poverty.

But this is not just ordinary, it is as a result of incompetent leadership without capacity and compassion, who are not interested in putting the Nigerian people first in their actions.

Other nations have faced similar challenges and turned their fortunes around through disciplined leadership, sound economic policies, and a total commitment from the leaders to invest in human development and pulling their people out of poverty.

A recent example is what is happening in Argentina.

In Argentina, over 52% of its population lived in poverty by early 2024 according to the World Bank, with millions of Argentines unable to meet basic needs. Inflation was above 200%, and economic confidence had collapsed. Yet, within two years, through decisive action to cut waste in governance and prioritize economic stability, the newly inaugurated president was able to cut down the poverty rate to 38.1% from 52% in just 2 years and extreme poverty fell to 8.2%, with inflation just around 2–3% monthly.

As at 2025, the urban poverty had declined to 31.6%, lifting millions of people out of poverty. Investor confidence grew and the economy began to grow. The people now see real improvements in their daily lives.

Both Argentina and the current Nigerian leadership assumed office in the same year, and this proves what I have always stated, that two years may not be enough to change a nation with a 100% turn around but it is more than enough to kickstart the transformation journey that will change the fortune of our dear country, with the people witnessing real and genuine change, but only if the leadership is honest, focused, and committed to the people.

Nigeria can work. We can reduce hunger, and restore dignity to Nigerians. But this will not happen while corruption and criminality dominate our governance.

Our nation requires leaders who will put the people first, manage resources prudently, and stand firm in rejecting corrupt practices. Nigeria will work, but only if we, as leaders, commit to tackling corruption, cutting the cost of governance, and focusing on critical areas of development like education, healthcare, and lifting the people out of poverty, just as other nations have done with remarkable results.

A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

He's throwing stones at himself, he increased poverty in Anambra when he was Governor. He left them poorer than he met them. Your media chochocho keeps demarketing you and exposing your hypocrisy.
And no reasonable person with a working common sense will cite the present Argentina as an example. Millei recently borrowed $20billion from world bank, imagine Tinubu borrowing that kind of money, it is hypocrite like Obi that will carry vuvuzela blowing it to the world, but same person is praising Millei. As at today, Argentina is one of the most expensive countries in Latin America with one of the lowest purchasing power. Trash!

Someone that can't win Governor of Anambra if he should contest today because of his past records as governor of the state.

The opposition can't even use 'hunger' for their campaign anymore. The prices of food keeps coming down.

Same Nigerians crying of hunger are the ones hoarding food but are forced to bring them out so that they don't lose totally as price keeps dropping.

And unless you are lazy. No food for lazy man .

Change is constant. The Obi you know then when he was a governor is different from Obi today. No elective positions he will contest today in a free, fair and credible election he won't win. He has the backing of all Nigerians including you.

You dey mind am?. He brought out a candidate to contest against Obiano, he and his candidate lost. He brought another one to contest against Soludo, he and his candidate lost. Another election is coming very soon, let's see how his candidate would fare against Soludo, after all if you're that popular, people would follow you and vote your candidate.

The Agulu con artist has dropped another one. What did he do about all these in 8 years while he was Governor?
Anyone can point out issues and make promises, but what did you do when you had the opportunity to correct these problems? That's what's important, not cho cho cho all over the place.

Nice one , a compassionate leader is speaking for Nigerians.

Tinubu is only interested in the elite few , a tactics that will keep majority poor and beg for 2k to sell their votes easily .

It's painful that most landlord of tenants (including you reading this ) have increased their rent over 100 to 200% , therefore achieving one of the aim of tinubu to reduce purchasing power to Nigerians .

He is increasing revenue but nit generating wealth .
FOB have been implemented , January 1st 5% vat go touch pms and diesel .
10% vAT is on the pipeline waiting to hit us .

In my own little way , I will secure lagos again for this man

Tinubu increased poverty level in Lagos to 69%.

Now Tinubu is replicating same poverty rate on national level.

Tinubu has demarketed himself considering the tribulation Nigeria is passing through under his inept governance.
Re: Corruption, Bad Leadership Responsible For Increasing Hunger, Poverty - Obi by koladata(m):
I believe wickedness or occult practices is the driving force behind this. Imagine if $6 billion were distributed among 2 million small-scale businesses in Nigeria: that’s 2 million enterprises empowered and each of them will receive more than 4.5 million naira as loan, sparking a chain reaction that could transform the economy. Even those without a business would feel the ripple effects. Yet, this same amount was recently used to pad the budget , only to be squandered.

Even if the loans were never repaid, the impact on the economy would still be positive, as long as they are monitored closely and strictly used for business purposes.

1, In the last 24 Months, The Political class in the Tinubu led Administration has offered a masterclass in the largest mal-administration post 1960 independence.

2, Propaganda, Story Spinning, fake data & statistics is at an unprecedented level, never experienced in Nigerian history.

3, The Minister of Works and FCT Minister had better watch it !

If PBAT doesn't get a second term nod which has a 70% probability, the duo and the current set of Governors will be first targets for prosecution with obvious over inflated projects.

4, Nigerians have never been this poor and wretched on a large scale since Independence.

Rent, car ownership and food has taken the biggest hit.

5, Nigerians are currently consuming recycled and expired food with the Standard Organisation caught below guard.

6, The first two (2) year effort of PBAT Administration has been sabotaged by the Governors of the subnational who have enjoyed the proceeds of the subsidy removal and FIRS windfall and channeled to their private pockets. Nothing is trickling down except for some few Governors that are less than five (5).

Until PBAT leaves office, we wouldnt know the enormity of the corruption currently rocking the public service.

Nigeria is indeed a crime scene !

How many people did obi lift out of poverty during his 8yrs as governor

I expect obi to showcase to Nigerians what he has to offer than all this cheap criticisms

I wonder what will happen to obi if he loses in 2027.

Ge relies much on social media hype than building structures.

If obi think he will sweep the SE come 2027 as he did in 2023, then sorry is his name.

Obi will hate politics after 2027

It is a bunch of dishonest politicians and two-faced hypocrites would compare Argentina to Nigeria. Argentina is in a serious mess, an economic quagmire. Imagine Tinubu retrenching lots of civil servants in MDAs just to cut spending hence people losing their jobs, what would these bunch of opposition say?. Till today, people who lost their jobs haven't recovered. Food and basic necessities are out of the reach of the people due to high prices. Peter Obi is not well informed about economic situations in other climes, unfortunately, he only wanted to score a cheap political point and that has been his stock in trade.

Re: Corruption, Bad Leadership Responsible For Increasing Hunger, Poverty - Obi by emkz: 9:55am On Aug 11, 2025
It is true that corruption and bad leadership are the promoters of poverty.

1. How many industries did the sudden anti-poverty crusader build while he held sway in Anambra?

2. How many people did nis leadership help to lift out of poverty in Anambra?

3. How many leaders did he train to sustain his economic ideas in Anambra?

4. By how much did he raise revenue in Anambra? Some naysayers argued that if he had the revenue in Lagos, he could have done wonders. But someone increased the revenue in Lagos. Why couldn't the sudden miracle worker do the same for Anambra?

5. What happened to the money he claimed he saved?

6. Where is he getting the money he is investing for his electoral future?

Is he insulating himself from the bad leadership and corruption he is agonizing about?
