The bigotry is promoted by full-fledged adults, not Gen-Zs. When did Nigerian Gen-Zs gain easy access to the Internet? Was it Gen-Zs that promoted tribal bigotry in 2015? There are monikers that have been promoting tribal bigotry as far back as 2010, and those were not Gen-Zs. You people should take it easy with the Gen-Zs blame. They met Nigeria the way it is. They did not cause Nigeria's problems.

The tribal bigory on this site and elsewhere on Nigerian Internet space is heavily promoted by adults in their mid-30s to early 40s. Yes, you read that right. 40-year-olds are the people promoting tribal bigotry on Nairaland.
Thank you! Get him!!!!

This unnecessary blame/insult on Gen Z is becoming out of hand.

Good day everyone, this thread will be used to document the stories and excapades surrounding this new phase in my life. As the name implies, I am now a travel nurse which means I go to different cities on a contract with the hospitals for a period of time to work. Follow me on this journey and don't forget to follow me on Instagram @obinetter
I heard female nurses are Nymphomaniacs on the duty, how true is this?

Your problem is, you think you are smart.

Am i the one that put the notion into people's mind?... I have read and heard, even witnessed it myself, when i worked with DEUX PROJECT, the company that built and maintains LASUTH.

Unless you are pretending not to be in the know, even my friends that are in the medical field, either as a nurse or a doctor... Even, as a matter of fact, male doctors/nurses avoid marrying their female counterparts.

In fact, do you know that 50% to 70% of female nurses in the United States Of America have failed marriages?

I have never thought of myself being smart in this matter.

You know what you're doing and just deflecting. A lot of medical people marry within their profession, same in other fields as well.

Is it only female nurses that have failed marriages in the USA? Give it a rest please and don't ruin this thread.

And irrespective of profession, Marriage is a LOT OF WORK.

There are also nymphomaniacs everywhere. It has nothing to do with one's profession, you are the smart person and should know better.

OP make your way to California on your travel route. After 3 consecutive contracts, most facilities will be willing to help you stay permanently. New inexperienced grads start at around $75/hr. With a few years of experience, you’ll be at over $100/hr plus all the benefits, mandated ratios and breaks. All those 25 year olds you’re working with who have 5 years of experience and only an ADN are all making around $200k annually without overtime and they don’t have to leave their homes to go travel. It doesn’t get better than that.

Most of our travelers don’t leave. Or they do bicoastal nursing by keeping their tax home of record (usually in Texas or Florida) and block their shifts so they can go back and forth while working in CA indefinitely. Sutter, Kaiser and Stanford is where you have to look for those high numbers. Dignity is okay too but they start newer grads around $60/hr. Not terrible but kinda low compared to the others.

You might be discouraged by people telling you CA is super expensive. That’s because they’re only thinking of San Diego, San Francisco or LA. You don’t have to live inside those cities. Outside those major cities, cost of living (especially rent/mortgage) is similar to what you’d find in other so called low cost of living states. And employers will pay you the same as those who are in SF because the unions mandate them to.

Good luck in your travels. Following your journey.

I am so happy you are back.

I graduated yesterday from nursing school in Texas. Your old thread was one of the motivation for me.

Looking forward to more exciting gists from you.
Thank you for coming back to nairaland...
are there schools where you can do night classes instead of the regular classes from 8am to 3pm?

Medical practitioners are trying.

Not it’s four years or less (2-3 typically).

One year for prerequisites and 2 years for the main program. People do get bachelor’s in that field sometimes which is four years. But just like nursing, it’s one of those careers that you don’t need a full bachelor’s degree to do. The real clinical knowledge is imparted in 2-3 years.

The extra 1-2 years for bachelors just helps you be a more rounded clinician because you learn things like leadership, understanding research, statistics, sociology and politics etc. All great if you want to advance in the field but not necessary in order to understand the science of what you are doing.

Are you coming? 🤩
Say yes pls.

Very pleased to read this. It just dawned on me that I love the field and if given the opportunity, I would love it!!

Hahaha Coco! In the long run do I have a choice? If it is not today, it would be next tomorrow. But it must be done soonest.

I was in medical school before I left to the USA. IMSU had a backlog of students to graduate and I couldn't see myself spending 12 years studying one program so I left after my 6th year.

We still dey here oh. Good to see that things have gone really well for you. Still in Chicagoland? I remember back then you were in the South Suburbs when you first came. Still here in the NW Suburbs oh. Wifey is an RN with 28+ years experience. So I can understand your journey a bit. I'm still in IT myself, though I am in management now. After about 29+ years of writing code.
FrankNetter, you have done really well for yourself. And I am sure you are an inspiration to a lot of folks here. Well done my brother.
