What Is Something You Wish You Learnt Earlier In Life. by Nobody: 10:38pm On Aug 14, 2025
Good day everyone.

Was having this thought today and decided to share.

What is one thing you wish you learnt earlier in life ?

For me , I wish I avoided women during my hustling days, would have made more progress in my life financially and otherwise.

One of the biggest mistakes I made in life was to date a parasitic girl during my hustling and struggling days.
I was a young graduate of 22 years earning 40k back then which was quite little but I had a girlfriend who was very demanding. She billed me to the point where I couldn’t even save a single penny , I really loved her then and would literally give in to all her demands even when it wasn’t convenient.

Last last she still cheated on me and got pregnant for another guy, the heart break really shattered and it took me two years to recover.

Currently I’m in my late twenties, got a very good job and earn very well and my advice to young men starting life is to be ruthlessly selfish. Be selfish with your time , resources and ambitions.
I wish I learnt that early in life , I would have walked away from that liability of a girl and focus on myself.

Avoid dating broke girls who add little to no value to your life, be more interested in your growth and development.
(If possible avoid relationships during your struggling days)

What’s is something you wish you learnt early?

Easier said than done. Suppose broke girl is the only girl you "love"?
I'm in my early 30's and a medical doctor and I wish I studied something else.
I wish I knew not to study something simply because it is prestigious and in vogue

I don’t think you understood what I said
I said to avoid “broke girls who add little to value to your life”.
If she’s supportive then it’s fine, but if she’s the type that knows you’re struggling but still put her financial burden on you then “run for your life “.

No one cares until you win.

A man cannot win a war without God on his side.

You don’t have passion for medicine?
What do you wish you studied?

You’re still young and can still make a career change.

I definitely "don't have a passion for medicine"
Wish I studied something I'd travel around the world and have a lot of fun. That's my passion.
Make a career change out of Medicine? Easier said than done

I understand all right. Suppose “broke girl who adds little to value to your life” is who you "love"?

Wish I had an early knowledge and motivation to invest in Au. A gram as at 10 years ago was less than 15k. The money was there, but my investments were not feasible. If only I had started out on AU at that time, I would have been far up the ladder of the millionaire's club.

Today, it is 170k plus. Each time a lump sum is dolled out in this purchase, my head aches. Good investment, bad timing.

This is something they won’t teach you in school.
Honestly dating a broke girl from a poor family is one of the easiest ways to destroy yourself financially as a man.

Don't come and start telling pple to avoid relationships as a young struggling guys bcus urs failed miserably.

The reason ur ex was billing u helplessly even when you were earning really low income was bcus you think you don't deserve love , your ex also knows this and finished u with senseless billing too. look I've dated girls that before I even give them money i would have to beg them first bcus they wouldn't accept it at all, that's how much they loved me, even to the extent of buying gifts and giving me their money, yes. and all this happened while I was still broke and struggling but I didn't let that define my reality nor my perspective about what love is about , I knew I was worth it anyways and I attracted all that good good love.

"if you don't know ur worth in this life you will become worthless"

To be less career serious and ambitious. To just travel around the world and have fun.

Now I'm stuck with a career that keeps me wanting more as the end point is glory but offers little or no fun. Even travelling is not fun as it's based on courses in lieu of the career.

I love my career, but deep inside, I admire free birds who just travel the world and have fun at their own timing.

You did not have passion for medicine a mistake most doctors make. You can still change career it's not late at all.

Looking back, I used to regret some key decisions I took about life.
But on a deeper reflection, I don't think the result would have been any different
