Nollywood plays what happens in Nigeria, Hollywood plays what happens in America, don't joke with the most sophisticated military in the world. This actually happened. You only think it's not possible because you are used to Nigerian military.

My take
Why should I believe this yarn?

Some people are very credulous. They believe anything without asking questions especially when it involves Americans

I am not so credulous
Sounds like a Hollywood story
Notice how there is no mention of any input from the government of Niger or Nigeria

It is funny how colonisation has affected the capacity to reason

The greatest country on earth.

How I wished we had Biafra, we will sacrifice everything possible to replicate America and all the great things they do. The focus would have been on acquiring indigenous technology, zero tolerance to leadership corruption and marginalization of any part of Biafra in order to make all Biafrans feel loved and cherished to bring out the best in them. When someone knows that his or her country truly care for him and ready to do anything for him to live a fulfilled life, he or she will be ready to sacrifice his life and all to make the country proud at all times. You don't expect patriotism from someone you despise and oppress at every given opportunity.

Biafra would have been the pride of the black race cry
Everything you said was making sense until you said zero tolerance for corruption in leadership. You're forgetting that leaders are not from another planet but also fellow citizens. Biafrans that worship money like anything else cannot have incorruptible leadership.

Seems you actually lived in the woods, what you just watched wasn't a movie cos it actually happened exactly the way it was narrated. USA will never inform Nigeria government of such classified operations cos they know your government will sabotage the whole processes just the same way they are handling the bandits and bokoharam stuffs.

Ordinary Rag tag Talibans?? The U.S. maintained control over Taliban-held territories in Afghanistan for years before eventually withdrawing, leaving the country in the hands of trained Afghan forces, many of whom ultimately abandoned their posts, allowing the Taliban to reclaim control.. Groups like the Taliban may never fully disappear but they can be contained.
In war, you either lose or win. The Talibans fought an asymmetric war and defeated the US. Americans didn't leave the country for their Afghanistan partners to rule. They stayed behind to defend them until Talibans defeated the two groups.

This happened under the Dullard called Buhari and no Nigeria news platforms talked about it... The US didn't even take permission to enter the country because they knew their mission would have been jeopardized by terrorist sympathizers....

This goes to show that our politicians deliberately don't want to end terrorism if not they would have employed the services of the USA, Russia or Israeli government to help them out.
They took permission, the news was widely reported then, perhaps you it skipped your ear.

Yes, no input from Niger and/or Nigeria govt. Naija govt got the brief as the operation was already underway. The US is careful with operations like this to avoid compromise/sabotage. Feel free to Research how they tracked and eventually killed Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan without the Pakistani Govt knowing jack.
The terrorists are very strategic too and often have loyalists in strategic public positions for real-time access to otherwise strategic info

Language is important and thinkers pay attention to detail

I don't know if they overpowered anyone or if they paid a ransom
I simply do not know and neither do you ?
I only know what was in the news

Did anyone identify the building where the alleged overpowering took place or were the bodies of those they claimed to have killed ever recovered?
Did the so called Terrorists issue any statement?

The simple truth is they may well have paid a ransom, killed some random almajiris and claim to have carried out a heroic operation who will argue?

I simply do not know but have a problem with people arguing as if they were there as onlookers,passers-by, bystanders or whatever

With American military assistance, Nigeria's terrorist problem would be consigned to the history books in a matter of months as drones operating with AI target acquisition capability would be launched to neutralize kidnap/herder/bandit gangs with surgical precision from the air, until there are no further targets left to annihilate.
What is the need for American assistance 10 years after ebilokan’s expired General finished all the terrorists like responsible governments do?

I don’t understand this revisionist logic to discredit Buhari and his maker.

I wholeheartedly agree with your astute declaration that "Niger is not Nigeria", professor. That said, the October 31, 2020 hostage rescue that was executed by US Special Forces involved a US missionary who was kidnapped in Niger, and then taken across the border into Nigeria, where this audacious rescue mission occurred as detailed in Wikipedia, along with the Military Times website, which one can only hope you won't classify as a "Fake Noos" outlets, in your infinite wisdom.

https://www.militarytimes.com/news/your-military/2020/10/31/us-forces-rescue-american-hostage-in-nigeria/

In case you might be wondering how on Earth I stumbled on the above two links which explicitly authenticate that historic raid on Nigerian soil in 2020, I am delighted to inform you that my pilgrimage to consult The Jungle Oracle was not in vain, because it was there that these two links manifested deep in the foggy recesses of my brain around midnight during the most recent full moon, as though by magic. God breast Nigeria.
The only thing they believe and doesn't need evidence is anything anti American/western or that supports Islamic terrorism.
Don't be surprised if they tell you Osama bin laden was spotted in Saudi Arabia recently, afterall it's just hearsay and they is no evidence of death.

Where’s Osama now? And what about the video of Saddam Hussein being captured? People often criticize the U.S. military, but the proof of its strength is everywhere. That’s a big reason why the U.S. has so much control in the world.

What we are told is the US forces entered Nigeria from the sky bombed a building that no one has ever located or photographed
Killed several men whose bodies were never recovered
Extracted a hostage like James Bond suffered no casualties and then flew out with him
The END

forgive me for doubting this tale and believing that they funneled money to the kidnappers through Nigerian assets and then concocted this Action movie story

You're not the only one bro but sadly we are the minorities. You see the bolded? They are waaaayyy more than us, there are a lot of them on this platform and everywhere. They don't ask the most important questions - Why is an "American missionary" in Nigeria and his wife in Niger.

Iran couple of months ago arrested a British Intelligence personnel and her husband under the guise of conducting a personal research project exploring the meaning of a “good life.”

Darrel Blocker a CIA agent under the guise of a musician carried out espionage in Uganda and Senegal.

Louise Armstrong was also a CIA agent under the guise of musician, used concerts as a covert operation to orchestrate a coup in Congo.

But in Nigeria? Forget it bro, those who fall in the category of the bolded will come for you. Then you have the ones who are utterly gullible and dormant, Wetin concern Nigerian with nonsense where Big brother Naija etc dey.

Emergingnation:
Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.

During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.

He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.

His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.

“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.

“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.

“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.

Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.
